The showers are a bit small. The lounge and restaurant is very nice, however. There is more than enough room to find a quite spot to read/work in one of the many lounge areas. They have the best breakfast around with plenty to choose from. I've only snacked on the dinner menu. Downtown Lund is only a 10 minute walk and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from there. They have a nice little bar to grab a drink as well. The pricing is competitive for the area. The service staff tends to be very friendly and helpful as well.

TripAdvisor is usually where I look, as the reviews are most often objective, up-to-date and give me an idea of how people feel about a place. After sifting through many of the reviews, I landed on the Mercur in Copehagen. I'm glad I did. Upon getting to the hotel, I observed Kristoffer at the front desk, assisting guests before me. I could tell he took pride in his work and really cared about the guests, based on his demeanor, suggestions and help. When I got to the desk to see if I could check in early, he apologized, letting me know that the room wasn't ready yet. I told him there was nothing to apologize for, as I was early and it was before the stated check-in time. He led me to the room to store my luggage. Kristoffer and I then embarked on a bit of my 'tourist' walking tour, giving me suggestions based on my interests, and even telling me who to ask for at a particular bar/restaurant, who I later made contact with and was so very friendly. I had a great day and evening out with the help of Kristoffer. I opted to add the breakfast into my room package and that was really good, so it was very convenient for my morning to get the day started on the day I would depart the beautiful city of Copenhagen. I was able to touch base with Kristoffer one more time that morning to thank him for all his suggestions and help. Kristoffer let me know that the location of the main train station was only a block+ from the hotel, making it extremely easy for me to get to the airport for my flight home to California. I'm always a fan of using public transportation when I can. I could see that many others adopted this attitude as well based on how many where there with their suitcases. If you are looking for a great place to stay, my suggestion is The Mercur. Close to the trains, and very close to the main walking promenade and Tivoli Gardens, among many other things.

Part of the house is used by other businesses including the ferry ticket office. Hotel reception is located on the ground floor, with rooms on 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor, plus restaurant / breakfast area on the 6th floor. Stayed there many times already and was happy always with the rooms except once where there was a problem with the heating. But even the heating problem was handled fair and satisfactory by 1) getting someone in to fix it (took two attempts meaning days but was fixed thereafter) and 2) charging only three instead of four nights because of the problem. Meaning the reception is quite responsive and helping in case of inquiries. The hotel itself has basic rooms, nothing special. But rooms have always been clean and tidy. The rooms have wooden floor, are large enough (even though not very large) and equiped with a closet, comfy bed (if you like not to soft beds), (a too) small desk, chair, wired internet connection (VPN able), sort of a mini bar and bathroom with shower. Half of the rooms or so have a window to the seaside / Trelleborg harbor. Meaning you can enjoy watching the ferries arriving / leaving and being loaded / unloaded. However there is no problem with noise from the harbor activities at least if you keep the window shut, no idea what it would be like with the window open. The bathroom comes with small and larger towel and soap, unfortunately without hair dryer. The hotel offer breakfast, which is extended continental and comes with: cereals, bread & rolls, jam, honey, chocolate spread, eggs and ham, cheese, salami, liverwurst, vegetables, pancakes, juice, water, milk and coffee. The owner of the hotel runs a small restaurant on the upmost floor in the same house. This restaurant serves also as breakfast facility. The main courses are not to expensive (for Sweden) and quality of the food is ok. Unfortunately the menu is quite small, so if you stay for a week or so you had it all! Restaurant also has draught beer for Swedish high prices of course. Trelleborg offers few (not many though) other places to eat out, but this one is alright and affordable so worth checking out when staying in the hotel.

Yes it isn't in Malmö Central but the train station is right in front & Malmö C is only a 10 minute train ride away and it gives an excuse to really get out and explore. Emporia-the local mall is across the street. Breakfast buffet is amazing and they also have a restaurant and bar area. Last bonus-you are only a 10 minute train ride from CPH airport.

Stay away from the cheese though, Danish cheeses are inexplicably nasty and very smelly.

There is a nice gym in the basement that has free weights and cardio equipment. Next door is also a small upscale supermarket. Overall, this is the best hotel in Malmo and they have gone above and beyond to ensure anyone has a comfortable stay. I can't wait to come back again.....
