Joe and his team rescued me from a pretty stressful situation, and I'm so grateful! I'm moving and had some new furniture delivered to my new place. The courier left my brand new sofa sitting out in the rain, leaving me very little time to find a way to get a large 100+ lb couch up four flights of stairs. I called around frantically trying to find a hauling service that offered same-day help, but most tried to make it unbearably expensive and complicated. Joe did the opposite -- he was incredibly kind and understanding and let me know that he could come right over. Within half an hour, he had come over and hauled my new sofa safely upstairs, making sure not to scratch the floors or damage anything in the new place, which was a level of care and precision I definitely haven't seen with other heavy lifting professionals. By the time he left, it started pouring heavily. He basically saved my new sofa from becoming a dirty rainwater mildew factory! The big junk companies I had contacted as I was dialing down the list all tried to make this job needlessly complex -- no same-day, $400 minimum, 2-hr minimum, etc. Joe, on the other hand, just asked what needed to be hauled and how he can help. You can tell that he's a really genuine person who sincerely cares about helping people. This was the kind of experience that makes you save the number in your phone because you know you'll be calling this team again and again. Without Joe's help, I would have lost my new sofa to rain damage and had to spend the first week in my new place with nowhere to sit. Scheduled 1800 Haul out for Sunday 6/20 between 9-11 they never showed up, when we called, no one answered but they texted back saying "we didn't see your appointment" and said they would be out 6/21 @ 10am they didn't show up and when we texted them they said the truck was at the dump and was far from us so we canceled. This company wasted our time with their unreliable business practices. To be 100% honest, I thought the service itself was a little more than I expected to pay. But I did compare to other companies nearby who do the same work and they are in the ballpark of the market. So no docking of stars for that. But I appreciate great customer service when I see it. And these guys were outstanding. Not only did they get everything I asked them to get with a smile, including a difficult to move box spring, they offered to keep taking stuff for me if I wanted to. They really asked me, "Are you sure we can't get anything else for you?" Truth is, I probably do have more stuff I should get rid of, I just haven't made that decision yet. I just moved to a house in roxborough area and found out my box spring wouldn't fit upstairs due to it being an old house with a narrow stairway. Went to the website, filled out the form for an estimate, and today, the crew of 3 called in advance of the midday appointment, looked at the sad situation, gave me a VERY reasonable rough estimate, and proceeded to "unf*ck my habitat" (to quote the very useful Tumblr site of the same name) in 30 minutes flat. I had no idea how much this type of service typically costs and called 4 different companies to get an estimate. I ultimately ended up going with 1-800-HAUL-OUT since they were the only ones willing to come out and actually see what I had before giving me a quote. So much better than trying to list out every item over the phone. Brendan was able to give me an exact quote in writing. It's not something common anymore to make an appointment at 11 pm the night before for a pick up between 1030 and 1230 the next morning and it actually happen. I was in a bind, as I was moving and had some furniture I needed to get rid of that I couldn't sell and couldn't leave behind. At 1030, I received a call saying they were about 20-30 min away. The haulers arrived and got rid of 3 large display cases (72.5 in tall, 32 in wide), an old coffee table and some random stuff I couldn't take to Cleveland with me. I had a Yelp deal ($40 for $100 worth of service) and it worked out for this poor former med student, almost resident. Some friends who were helping me move helped bring down some of the stuff we were giving to the haulers, a bonus for them I suppose! They had everything gone I needed in under an hour! Very professional and quick guys, very courteous. If you need to call about an appointment, do it after 9 AM or so! read more

I wish I could give a zero! Atrocious customer service!!! Completing a renovation of our home and needed to start moving the debris. Made an appointment online for 8:30. Appointment was confirmed and expected to get a call prior to our set appt time. No call, no email so I called. " We aren't going to be able to come out today. We are all booked until next week." How is that so when your online schedule is showing open time slots all day?! And if this is the case, why not contact people who are scheduling appointments to let them know they shouldn't be waiting around for service that won't ever show?! I will never do business with company. Unreliable and inconsiderate. We even wanted to hire them to do the rest of our demo; not worth wasting time when you are working with schedules and don't have time to waste. Look elsewhere. read more

What else can I say but "PHENOMENAL"? I made the appointment the night before online and was actually caught off guard by a team of professionals who were not only on time, but a full 20 minutes early! After a run through of what I was trying to accomplish, they provided me with a price which was well below my most conservative budgeting estimates after looking at the prices of the competition. After specifying what items were to stay (of which they were very attentive and careful), it only took two hours and my mother's basement was completely clear of clutter! They made short order of what I had deemed an insurmountable pile of assorted junk she had compiled over the years. They even swept up when they left! Superb Service - All of the previous 5 star ratings are totally true. I used a Yelp deal to reduce the cost of the job. Russ and Justin were the 2 guys that arrived and were extremely professional, efficient and fast... I had a huge sofa, 2 chairs and a full mattress set to be removed from a relative's apartment. Unfortunately the only elevator available could not accomodate the sofa. They were not bothered at all by that issue. Russ and Justin carried the sofa down 2 flights of stairs in the building and then another smaller set that led to the outside. The quote they provide is based on a fraction of the space that has to be used - from 1/6 to the entire truck. My items were quoted as 1/4 of the truck. I would recommend anyone in the Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery or Bucks County areas, use this company if they want any amount of items hauled away fast and for a competitive price. read more

I had scheduled with them to come pick up our junk as we were moving to another house. It was scheduled on a Saturday two weeks before we had to move. They didn't show up. They didn't even call. Then the next week when I contacted them, they scheduled for the following weekend. This was our last chance to get the junk out of the yard. They showed up this time, but late. I called and called but nobody answered and when I tried to leave a VM it was full. Then my wife called with another number and they picked up on the first ring. She told them that I have been trying to call and they responded with "is it the 610 number?" She said yes and that I was waiting on them and if they are going to stand me up again, to at least call me back. Finally, the workers showed up and smelled like alcohol. They then quoted me the price point that was nearest to the top. With no more time to hire a different company I signed off on it and moved on. Honestly, I don't know how I would've completed my surprisingly ever-more-complicated, truly never-ending, worth-it-but-still apartment move without Craigslist and Yelp. Picture it: yesterday. The SAGA was coming to a close. I had finished the great schlep (with the help of Broad Street Movers), lugging the 12 CDs I still inexplicably own and the 9,000 books I cart from hovel to hovel hoping that someone, anyone, will be like "Oh, you read a lot. What a big brain you have!" But my old place still has this flotsam and jetsam. Effluvia! A computer that gave up the ghost, the dresser that NO ONE REMEMBERS BUYING (dramatic music cue), a wicker basket because sometimes I like to decorate like Dorothy Zbornak. JUNK! I'm trying to do this new thing with my life where I don't fill it up with terrible stuff that I resent. I didn't want any of it but the Philadelphia trash men, who heretofore have been so great to me and my refuse-filled life, were like "GTFO with that noise". I just have so much baggage. I liken my experience to 1-800-HAUL-OUT to a awesome first date, it wasn't that expensive, it was quick and painless, and in the end my bed got tossed around. I had two couches a bed and box spring and some other odds and ends that needed to be thrown out, so I called HAUL-OUT, the day before Hurricane Sandy, and they arrived on time and moved with incredible speed, they moved so fast that my neighbor earned the comment of the day badge ( dont ask) when she said " Damn, those two moved faster then 1985 crackheads, I actually thought they were robbing your place", I just gave her a blank stare and forgot to tell her that I'm borrowing her wine openers for the next 5 years. It's not often that you can make an appointment online at 7 pm for service the following day at 830 am and it actually work. Granted the team actually showed up closer to 1030, but this was within the window provided (I later found this out, but don't recall seeing that on the website) and I received a call to let me know when they'd arrive. It was basically a 1 - 2 and done kinda process. I had a yelp deal so the service cost was totally affordable as well. The team showed up, assessed the load, packed it all up and were on their way within 30 minutes. The times of course are dependent upon how much crap you have. Called today, when the city trashmen refused to pick up a basement cleanout on our curb (which was all bagged up) unless we "tipped" them... such BS. Well, I couldn't stand looking at it and didn't want it to sit there for a week, so I called these guys based on the Yelp reviews. They showed up within 30 minutes of calling, gave a very reasonable estimate, and did a great job hauling everything away. I would highly recommend them and I will use them again, without a doubt. In the end, I ended up paying more money to get rid of the junk than I would have if I tipped the trashmen, but I will *not* be held hostage by the city workers that my taxes pay. That's ridiculous.
