Easily the best fish market in any radius and on any side of Long Beach. Matter of fact, I'd say the best fish market I've ever had the pleasure of eating at. Don't judge a book by its cover. The outside isn't the prettiest, but you'll be greeted with excellent food. I almost always get the #7 combo: 5 piece fish and 10 shrimp with fried and roll. The fries can be hit or miss but the seafood is batting a perfect score. From looks to smell to taste. Crispy, tender, & flavorful, and excellent condiments (hot sauce & tartar sauce). A definite favorite restaurant...

Fried Catfish (extra crispy), Fried Shrimp (extra crispy), fries and dinner roll (dry) and Tartar sauce

I come here every now and then and usually get the fried catfish and shrimp, always extra crispy because I like it crunchy. The fish and shrimp are tasty. The fries are fine, but the bread can be a little dry. The greens and potato salad are decent but small in portion.

Chicken Wings 10 Pieces

I used to love this place and one of my favorite pre pandemic. I stopped by today and I was surprised how the quality is just not where it used to be. The fish filet was smaller and thinner. The chicken wings was small and no meat. I'm not sure if there was a change of ownership. But looks like they are cutting cost without raising the prices to much. Another case of you get what you pay for. I'm not sure if I'm coming back.

8 Pieces of Orange Roughy
Danielle B.

When I checked my order in the car I was surprised to find that the family basket was comprised of nuggets/chunks of fish rather than filets. I ordered 8 pieces of Orange Roughy, which had an additional fee and 2 pieces of Catfish. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with my order and am giving it 2 stars for being misrepresented as a family sized portion as well as the negative response from the gentleman who worked there. He is well aware that the wording is misleading for the amount of food they are serving and sarcastically asked if I wanted more fish. Over all, a super disappointing experience would not return.

Some awesome fish fry.

OMG, my sister told me about this place in Long Beach. If you ever in Long Beach and you have a taste for some fried fish. Go yo #1 fish market. 5 star i drove from South Orange County worth the drive.

So I actually stumbled upon this place by accident. My phone had died and I lost my directions, and…read moresaw a little H. Salt, I remembered coming to H Salt as a kid, so I had to stop and grab some food for my mom as well. When I pulled into the parking lot, I quickly realized it's more of a one-way driveway setup. I almost ended up in an argument with another driver who was blocking the path and nearly backed into me. I'd honestly recommend finding street parking or parking nearby if possible. Once inside, there were quite a few customers. The atmosphere felt very old-school and slower paced, with more of an older crowd. The girl taking the order was very friendly, which I appreciated. I ordered the Three P's fish and chips, jumbo shrimp, and a large coleslaw. After taking it home, I thought the fish tasted light and fresh, and the fries were pretty good too. Overall, I thought it was decent. My mom, however, felt the food was a little soggy and could've been cooked a bit longer. She also mentioned the batter on the fish had a slightly sweet taste, almost like a donut or cake batter rather than a traditional fish batter. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily go far out of my way for it, but if you're already in the area, I'd say it's worth trying at least once.

Just had the 3pc fish and chips..... no flavor. I don't know what this establishment has done…read moredifferently, maybe the oil. But the fish was so bland and fries so burnt. With the no flavor I thought I had COVID or the flu because my sense of taste was gone. But I drank my bottled coke and realized it was the food. Sad because this is an oldie but goodie. But if they cannot afford the right oil they should just close instead of prolonging the end. I'm sure everyone tastes it and the deception to the customers will end their reign in great fried fish and other seafood items!!! And the tables were disgusting. No one tended to the dining area. Customers asked for a wipe down and were met with an employee looking at them crossed eyed. Or like they were just asked for money from their register. The towel they used made things worse. The smell... ??? They should just close

Parking is available but small, otherwise street parking. I went to the pickup window and got my food immediately. I literally spent no more than a minute there. I was the only one there at the moment. Food was piping hot. The shrimp was yummy & the fried-ness of it was perfect! Paired with the sauces well, cocktail & tartar. For my sides, the fries were plenty and glad they weren't salty. The coleslaw and potato salad were also delicious. I like that the coleslaw has some juice, I don't like "dry" coleslaw lol. Potato salad was tasty as well, potatoes cooked perfectly. The dinner roll was your basic roll, a little stale but not bad.

Luckily the fish shack was opened, and with no research we decided to come by and try it out We decided to go all in and order two combos, one with tilapia and chicken/cole slaw/ fried and the other with red snapper and hush puppies/sweet potato fries/ 5 fried shrimp We were so happy with the portion wizard, they were massive! It was def worth the price! My partner and I really enjoyed our meals and so happy we had different types of fish and sides all were great, I would want to try their catfish next and their desserts looked amazing!

I've had this place bookmarked for awhile. Intended to go every time I was on this side of town…read more Finally made it! I went hiking in RPV. Was craving fried oysters! Service was awesome! I had plenty of questions. I knew I wanted oysters. I got the oyster combo. Combo comes with two sides and bread/dinner roll. I opted for double hush puppies as my two sides. I also wanted fish, but didn't want to buy a whole dinner. The cashier told me I could get a single piece of fish. I believe it was $2.50 per piece. I love filet sole. It's thin and I like it crispy! The oysters were not big, but came with a lot of smaller pieces. I like the bigger oysters so I could taste more oyster than breading, but this did the trick as well! Smaller pieces, but more pieces! I love hush puppies! These were more crispy on the outside! When my order was ready, I asked for extra tartar and hot sauce. She gave me one and one little cup each. When I opened the bag, to my surprise there was a set of sauces in the dinner and for my single piece of fish! I'm so happy that I got so much tartar and hot sauce! I'm a dunker! The tartar sauce was more herby, like a ranch and not creamy like mayo. But still delicious! Especially when you mix it with hot sauce! This place is a small fish market, no tables. Just a few seats to wait for your food.
