Boldt Castle is still in the process of being finished, so the 3rd and 4th floors are pretty much white washed plaster walls in the rooms, with no fireplaces. But the ground floor and 2nd are done and are spectacular. The grounds are beautiful! A great way to spend an afternoon. Snacks and drinks are available.

You feel the cool breeze despite the warm summer weather. Hearing info about the 1000 islands was cool. The prices for the boat tours seems pretty affordable, especially if you are doing the cruises in groups. There are washrooms onboard. Also, there was snacks and drinks have similar prices to concert and events food and drinks. For the 3 hour tour We took a morning tour. It was not very busy so there's a lot of space to move around. The most popular spot was the very front (bottom level). It's calm though it might be a little long for some. For the 5 hour tour: We took an afternoon/evening tour. Despite how busy it is, it was cool to visit and step foot on Boldt Island. Also, make sure you know which boat you were on as there will be multiple tour boats from other companies in the area. The Island and Castle were larger than I thought. The achitecture and interior were gorgeous and impressive. From what I remember, I think the gift shop accepts both currencies.

It's the USA on both sides and the border isn't for another five miles. The fencing and signage on the southern end is to prevent folks from dodging the toll that is currently USD $3.75 / CAD $4.75. There are five bridges which transition you from the American mainland to Wellesley Island to Hill Island (the actual crossing) to Constance Island to Georgina Island to the Canadian mainland. The bridge was built in 1937 with additions made in 1959. It carries two lanes in each direction with a pedestrian sidewalk. I did not cross the bridge today as I've already done my Canadian visit, crossing the other day at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo. But I did take the time to view the clever structure from the US side. BEAUTIFUL LIGHTHOUSE IN CAPE VINCENT, NY…read more====================================== My husband and I drove out to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse on Friday, November 15, 2024 while my son was at work. We should have checked the hours a bit better because Google said it was open, but it was closed for the season. It was still pretty from the outside, but very cold with the wind. This lighthouse is located at the end of the Great Lakes on Lake Ontario and the beginning of the St. Lawrence River. The property consists of three acres of land that was donated by Captain John Tibbetts in the early 1820's. In 1985 the new tower was built and is still in operation today. It has the only Fresnel lens still in operation on Lake Ontario. It can be seen from sixteen miles away. A foghorn was added and put into service in 1896. Down below there is a telescope that visitors can use. Points of interest are marked on the railing. If you are visiting the North Country I highly recommend a visit to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse.

He informed us about each and every island on the route. This boat tour was on Saint Lawrence river which comes from Canada. It was thrilling to know one side of the river is the USA and another side is Canada and houses on Canada side were so close, the person sitting on his patio can even wave us. Guide told us, for being an island, it should have 3 criteria, tree-house and the third thing I don't remember. We were amazed to see island having just one house and no space at all. Wondering how a person living there was able to stay there so long. Guess they are done with humans: P The beauty of Thousand Island is the bunch of unique small island in a vast water zone. The islands were super clean and have millionaires staying there. The staff was amazing and snacks on board we all reasonably priced. Our tour included 3 hours of time to get to the island and have a 1-hour stopover. Which was plenty of time. The way home included a stop to Bolt Castle with the option of catching any other Uncle Sam boat back to shore. The scenery is magnificent; the choice of things to do is great, but mostly it is a relaxing time. Enjoy both a sunrise and a sunset over the St. Lawrence.

This bridge should be replaced. The natural beauty of the area is great but in no way offsets the need for a new bridge.

I visited with family near the end of our road trip last summer…read more The tunnel seems to attract a decent amount of people. There are these info placards that has the history of the tunnel. The changing lights were helpful and cool to look at besides the placards. There is parking on either side of the tunnel. Parking facing the water is paid and would probably be shared with the 1000 Island cruises. I would suggest you to go in the summer because the tunnel feels like an ac room. Make sure to wear shoes with some grip. The floor was a little be slippery at time. There is a continuous dripping of water in parts of the tunnel.

A good tunnel experience…read more The tunnel was very nice and well maintained. Unfortunately, the music wasn't working which is why I am unable to give this place 5 stars today. The lights were working and it was a nice experience still. I thought the experience was awesome because a decorated railway tunnel is cool and is interesting to see. For the reasons that I have stated in this review, I recommend that you all check this tunnel out because of the excellent ambiance and for the beauty of it.

The tour guide did a wonderful job of answering questions and leading our large group through the exhibits. It also seems like the fort puts on great programming for kids and families, with Victorian school lessons and interactive exhibits. All the staff were friendly and engaging and seemed to be enjoying themselves. We will definitely come again if we are back in this area!
