Yes I had to wait a little but I didn't mind at all because they had plenty of toys that my son played with the whole time and snacks ! We did some research on barbershops in our area and when we came across 101 barbershop we wanted to support as they do free cuts for people with autism and special needs and I think that is so amazing. I came across this place on Instagram and called the number on the page. Person who answered lacked etiquette/customer service and told me to book an appointment online since it was for a free autism haircut. (Like dang sorry I bothered you). So I booked it online on the website that is linked on their Instagram, which gave me a booking/confirmation #. When the day for the haircut finally came they told me they couldn't find my appt, and so I showed them my booking # that I screenshotted the week before when I made the appt. When the "'manager" or something got there he had a condescending demeanor and dismissive body language and told me i needed to have email confirmation. I never received an email from their online booking, so idk if it was just technical difficulties or maybe I did something wrong. I showed him the screenshot of my confirmation # and he accused me of booking this appointment earlier that day! And said "this is just a screenshot". But I told him I booked it on the 13th (a week before). Regardless, it was his condescending attitude towards me that made me super uncomfortable and made me feel unwelcome. Thankfully he still allowed my son his haircut. Jordan and Justin cut my son's hair and they were very sweet and they tried their hardest to make it a great experience for my autistic 5 year old. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Went in today to have my son get a haircut. I had called the day before to set up an appointment and whoever answered said no appointment, walk in only. So I went, as soon as you step in the smell of weed hits you so strong (and this is supposed to be a kid friendly establishment????) we got this lanky guy with glasses (who by the way could not be bothered to wear deodorant) and I let him know I wanted a trim off the top, line up and a fade on my son. He buzzed the whole top off! And when he's using the machine, he's applying so much pressure my son kept telling him to slow down and stop as he is tender headed. Then comes the line up, which came out horrible. He missed spots, I had to ask him to hand me the machine so I can finish lining up the back of his head because he clearly wasn't going to do it. My son left with a horrible haircut and he was supposed to have make up pictures this upcoming Thursday! Our first visit over a year ago went great, this time around was horrible. New to the area, I was looking for a true barber for my husband's bald head & long beard. I walked in to get a gift card, and a young man said he had availability for the following day. I wanted the hubs to have THE WORKS - Beard trim/shave, shave head, hot towels, etc. This youngster had no idea how to shave him. Did not use a straight edge razor, used something like a disposable or box cutter. Anyways, when we got home, I had to shave his head again because there was still stubble ALL over. His beard was crooked, and part of it must have been tucked up under the cape because it was still 2 inches longer than the front part. I'm sure some of the other employees might have done different, but I do a better job on him at home than this guy did. Sorry - we will not be back. read more

I took my son in for a haircut. With my son's autism, he struggles with haircuts. We have been to a few different children's salons around town. They were so patient with my son as he cried and squirmed throughout the entire haircut. They gave him some teddy graham's and flavored water during the haircut and even a lollipop when he left. I've never seen anyone as patient (outside of therapy) with my son, and his haircut is much cleaner than it is with other salons. We'll definitely be back. PS. Came in as a walk-in. No problem. The young man who helped me was very patient, understanding, and a professional. He cut my hair how I wanted and trimmed my beard. This was my third visit. The atmosphere is always cordial, comfortable, and engaging. The good folks who work here give the place an atmosphere of an old time barber shop - a place of good conversations with new friends. A place where I wanted to get a good cup of coffee and hang out for a few hours. But life doesn't always allow such times... This is the only place in Henderson where autistic children can have a free haircut. On occasions, I forgot the schedule, the barbershop folks take their ministry of helping autistic children on the road to neighborhoods and other locations to give free haircuts. Went in for a free autism haircut for my daughter (which we have done before with great success). We came in and was told there is no one there to cut girls hair. That's fine. We headed out and they proceed to come out and tell me they can take her as long as she doesn't move a lot. I told them she had autism and that's not a guarantee so if they aren't confident then it's fine. They said it's fine. Cool, we go back in and he proceeded to to make my daughters hair extremely choppy and mind you, She wasn't moving enough to cause that. I point out how uneven her hair is and was told it's because the oil they put in her hair. I pointed out the choppy parts and told them to just give her a bob. They proceed to make it even choppier. I let her get off the chair and we left. I'll have to fix my daughter's hair on my own. This place had been great so far and I completely would have been ok coming back when someone who knew how to cut girls hair was available. But don't literally come follow me to my car letting me know you can do it then proceed to mess up her hair. It's hard enough getting her hair cut but this just adds to the frustration. My sons hair looks fantastic, really worth every penny. The staff was friendly and professional and the wait time was relatively low. Got a card for this barbershop through my sons therapist, they were super close and said they do free haircuts for kids on the autism spectrum! We were not able to come in the time Period but did come in later that day and joban was so patient with my son! If you want a plain, quick and easy cut, go to SportsClips or Great Clips, it's cheaper and people are nice. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. The haircut experience wasn't good. I contemplated whether writing this review since I like supporting small businesses but there is something bothering me with their business practice - surcharging. I'll explain below but let's start with the haircut feedback first. The guy didn't listen to how we want the hair cut for my son. My son came home upset, crying. The guy kept saying "I got you" when he was explaining how he want his hair cut -- keep the top long. But he cut it too short, he was too busy watching the NBA game, while cutting my son's hair. My soon took years to grow his hair and it vanished just within minutes and we truly regret coming to this place. Only if the guy listened this could've been prevented. I tried talking to him but he wasn't even looking at me. This isn't a place for people who are trying to find their go-to barber, they don't care about customer satisfaction. Surcharging! They charge you $3 more if you pay with a card, this is illegal if you are using a debit card. Surcharging only applies to credit card and it should not be more than 3% of the actual cost of the service or product. For example, for a $45 hair cut, they can only charge 3% of $45 which is $45 + $1.35 =$46.35 for the credit card processing fee, but they charged $48 instead, I understand it's not a lot of money but I have no respect to place that do malpractice for this type things. Also, if you are surcharging you need to comply with the card brand rules and this means rules implemented by the Visa and MasterCard. You need to display the card pricing not the cash price. You cannot just tell about the surcharge 'after' and surprise the customer. I do not like business that add additional fees just because they feel like it and assume everyone doesn't know or care let alone they resist to not follow the rules -- whoever their merchant account provider is should be charging this business a non-compliance fee for applying surcharges INCORRECTLY. I was not sure how he was going to react because he doesn't like people touching his hair or ears but Joven was really patient and caring towards my son. I have been looking for a men's hair cutter for two years now. I found this shop totally by chance and I'm glad I did. I drew Joven's seat on my first visit to 101. What a nice guy, and he really knows what he's doing. I got a great cut, my search is over. The owner was terrific. i showed three different photos and explained what i wanted and the barber was so eager to start cutting he clearly did not listen to a word i said. absolutely ridiculous. the blending was terrible, did not use alcohol on areas that were shaved. they also said they were able to cut curly hair but they didn't even wet it before combing it out with a non curly hair friendly comb. i don't know if there was anything redeeming. i wanted to come here because i assumed they would be patient with customers but my barber was nothing of the sort. save yourself the money and emotions of being disappointed with the final result and go somewhere else. read more

The barber who cut my son's hair for school did a great job on the fade, but he butchered his hair on top. It was super long and he wanted a messy look. The barber cut it with clippers and no scissors. It was uneven and looked terrible. We had to go have it fixed the next day by my stylist. Maybe it was because his hair was super straight. Amazing experience at 101 Barbershop. We brought my son for a haircut on the recommendation from some parents on an autism Facebook page. Our son HATES getting his hair cut. We have been cutting his hair at home for a year because he has such extreme tantrums during haircuts at other places. 101 Barbershop was so accommodating and relaxed that our son felt comfortable and sat in his dad's lap for the whole haircut without a single problem. They were so understanding of our son's behaviors and worked with us and him to get a great haircut. Our son's hair looks amazing! This haircut is by far the best haircut he has ever had. 101 Barbershop is now our family barbershop and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality haircut. read more

Dude didn't even use scissors to cut the hair dew, he just used the buzzer, cut was lazy at best. If you are going to spend $50 on a cut don't go here because the barber is LAZY. He watches movies and doesn't pay attention to his customer while cutting hair. He just run the buzzer over your head to make it sound like he's cutting, no scissors either. He answered his cell phone (which was fine) but as soon as he was off the phone he rushed to get me out because he obviously had something more important come up then to cut hair. I never asked for my sideburns to be trimmed and he trimmed them off entirely, GONE, nothing there! Not because it was part of the style, he messed up and cut them off accidentally while not paying any attention to his cut because he was entirely distracted. Or he just did it on purpose because that's how they roll. Dude hide me the entire time from any mirrors so I couldn't see the mistake he made without me knowing. At the end of the cut he just kicked me out of the chair with asking if the cut was good because he had to go somewhere. I hope the owner reads this and offers me a refund for the laziness because I had to cut my own hair after I spent $60. read more
