We went to get food on a Friday night. No place to sit. People were there mainly to drink. The restaurant was understaffed and the poor servers were doing their best. We had to share a table outside where the music was so loud you could not have a conversation. Food took a long time. It was cold. Won't be back soon and we are locals. Sad to see this place has not been able to keep up with the interest. Food was pretty good even though the wait. The owner keeps hiring high school students it seems who don't even know the menu. It's not good service at this point. I had to get up and pay because my server was so inattentive, and then he has the audacity to bump into me multiple times while I'm in line to pay-- instead of offering to get me the check. I was trying to be empathetic because I used to be a server and I know how it is when you're busy, but this boy doesn't even understand order of operations in serving. The son's owner took my neighboring tables order and they didn't get their food even after my father and I finished (they had a child with them too...). So on top of all this, the music was way too loud and started towards the end of the meal and the owner decided to add 18% gratuity because we were there during music hours. The food is decent, but that's about all that can be said about this place. First of all, it's not cheap. Second, the service is unbelievably slow. Dinner took something like 45 minutes to appear. If you have all night, and just love waiting, then this is the place for you, but otherwise, go into Salinas and find a Mexican place. read more

We have been longtime regular customers at 101 Wine Press since it first opened. We did take out dinner tonight and it was VERY disappointing. We were informed they no longer have the broccoli salad, which is our favorite side dish so we ordered the pasta salad instead. The pasta salad was inedible, it burned my mouth. Pasta salads are not supposed to be overly spicy. The tri-tip sandwich was AWFUL. The meat was dry & tough, like shoe leather, It seemed old and just warmed up. There was no BBQ sauce on the sandwich, and no BBQ sauce provided on the side. Very discouraged. read more

Stopped by on the way to Santa Cruz. Stumbled in without checking out the reviews. It was surprisingly good. Nick was very friendly. It's so nice they have a 16 oz pouch and a 64 oz plastic bottle for to go drinks. You could even to go the draft beer on tap! Can't get any better than this. We stop here once a year when checking out all of the succulent nurseries in the area. I diddnt write a review last year Becuase they seemed busy and understaffed. I thought maybe that reflected my experience with the service and food but I was wrong. Today we went there for the wrong drinks the entire food, service was no good and the food needed all the bbq sauce in the world to swallow. Asked for hazy little thing beers each time first time they gave me a 22oz modelo then a 16oz mine haze. Yes I should've said something but I just wanted what I asked for. First time here, and we are very happy we came! Like everywhere, they seem understaffed, but Nick did his best to make sure our service was excellent. He was knowledgeable of both the food and wine menu. Wine flight was fun and I found a new favorite, Seabold/BOLD. We tried the cheese and sausage board, delicious! The tri tip El Jefe sandwich was amazing!!! I would come back for it! You can smell the barbecue cooking and they had huge smokers cooking in the back when we arrived. Their competitors on Salinas, Aptos and the newly open BBQ place on Carmel, are around $20 to $22. Also they dont have Brisket or Pork... Why ??? To expensive for Prunedale... I'd rather make a small trip, either Capitola or Carmel... Heck even Salinas, than pay the ridiculous overly inflated prices. I stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a go with the family. The food was fantastic, the people were attentive and kind. They are a new business and the staff are still figuring things out, but they are making progress. Prunedale deserves to have more places like this. It is a little on the pricey side, so be ready. It is kid friendly (mine are 10 and 12), and they have kids meal options. The trip tip was yummy (my daughter only let me have one small bite), and the ribs are amazing. Good stuff! read more

I knew about this place for quite some time as they were in my place of business originally getting their sample menus printed. I have finally found the time to go visit as I heard good things through the years. I made it an evening and invited a few friends to check it out. Turns out, it was a big mistake. We got there around 630, but the weather was still nice so we decided to sit outside, even if was louder as a band was playing. The placed seemed pretty busy so we overlooked the slower service and with most places being understaffed, we understood....at first. The waitress finally comes around and of course the beer I wanted she states they are out of. Go Figure. How can they be out of a beer they sell on their menu at 645 on a Friday night? She suggests another so I gladly try her recommendation. It was good so no problem. We order our food and as we wait, and wait, and wait...it's getting later so the weather is getting colder. Some of the patrons outdoors were trying to light the outdoor heaters to no avail. As time went on, I decided to ask if they can turn on one of the heaters or both. I was told that she would get someone. You guessed it, no one came so I tried myself. We know that the heater was giving off propane as you can smell the gas, but it would not ignite. Simple solution is to use a lighter like you're starting a bbq. But, since no one came outside to light it, check on it, check on us, or even care, we all gave up and sat in the progressive cold. The cheese plate with sausage we ordered along with jalepeno mac and cheese came out and can you guess what our problem with it was? Yes, the mac and cheese was already cold, the cheese plate didn't come with nuts as the menu stated but olives instead. No one informed us upon ordering that, hey, we are ALSO out of nuts. The cheese plate only had 2 types of cheese of the 4 they list on the menu. One was correct from the menu but the other wasn't a listed cheese. Maybe they were out of cheese too? Cheese wasn't even that good. It tasted like I went to supermarket and took some cheddar cheese and pepperjack cheese, cut it up and served it. Coming from a restaurant, I expected better quality. Not to mention, I was told from my friend that they get better chili at Wendys. I will finish this by saying, I normally do not leave reviews often. It doesn't matter negative or positive. I just go on with my life and choose to either come back or not. The tipping point to me wanting to leave this negative review was the bill. They automatically added an 18% gratuity on to the bill. We had a party of 4. No where on the menu does it say gratuity is added to all bills or parties of a certain number on up. Basically, we paid them 18% for them to bring us bad food, ignore us, constantly want to clear our table to try and get us to move on, and to not even care if we are happy. Oh and btw, there were 2 outdoor heaters of which neither worked. Whomever owns this establishment needs to take a good look at either hiring good management or doing a much better job making sure your customers are happy and will return. Stop adding gratuity for bad service. You will continue to drive away customers and your staff will not improve as you are continuing to reward them for bad service. Why would they change when they do not give a crap about the business or the customers and still get paid. Needless to say, I will not be back here and I suggest anyone that reads this, keep up on the reviews to see if anything has changed from this review. read more

I stopped into this place today a bit desperate with my 12-year old daughter after finding all the restrooms closed in the other stores and restaurants in this mall because of Covid. I asked if my daughter and I could use the restroom. The young guy behind the counter said we could if we were buying something. When my daughter chose what she wanted to eat, I ordered 2 appetizers from the menu totaling $6 dollars. He said we could not use the restroom while waiting for our food because there was a $10 minimum! Though we live in the area, my family and I will never be coming to this place again. read more
