My wife and I walked into 111 for some flashes expecting a typical tattoo shop, but we walked into what could be described as a museum! The walls are covered in historical of flash sheets and artifacts that have been collected over an absurd amount of time from famous tattoo artists. Nate was knowledgeable on all aspects of his shop, including tattooing obviously! Nate has been tattooing at this location alone for almost 20 years, so getting tattooed by him was great fun. We had fantastic convos for the entirety of the two sessions, which helped past the time! The total time in shop was about 2 and a half hours but I'm not too sure, we were captivated by the shop in general! Personally, this shop hit everything I love about tattoos and then some! Now don't get it twisted, they do ALOT more than just American Traditional, so go check it out! The price was cheaper than most shops I've been as well, and we've been tatted in Indiana, California, and Colorado! In short, this shop blows the others out of the water! I came in for a walk-in appointment, I called ahead, and was told there was availability. I waited for over three hours, while the shop smelled like marijuana. I asked for my tattooist, and was told Nate went home for the day. I looked at their Flash, and saw a LOT of very weird, racist gorilla imagery, and Nazi/SS imagery. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I'm writing this review because I got tattooed by n8 ... Or Nate... Around 11 years ago. AND the tattoo he did on me is still one of my favorites and STILL has some of the brightest colors that anyone has ever put on me. Nate built my tattoo so it would age well and last for years to come. I had some ideas and he coached me in the right direction of what would work and what wouldn't, as well as what he thought would work well for balance and composition. 111 is a testament to nate's absolute LOVE and pride in tattooing. He has massive collections of antique tattoo memorabilia and plenty of hand painted flash for you to get ideas from -- which is what you SHOULD do rather than stealing others' ideas from Pinterest or Instagram. I highly suggest everyone check this place out and get tattooed here. It makes me wish I went to ball state all over again so I could get more tattoos from Nate. Tattoo shops in Muncie come and go. Either your favorite artist moves to Portland or Brooklyn or the parlor gets taken over by Nazis. I guess it's the nature of the beast. For the moment, 111 is my favorite shop in town, and I've sampled most. These guys are no prison scratchers. Nate Harmon and Shannon Hull (both formerly of Ground Zero) are artists, first and foremost. They're creative and imaginative fellows, and not merely kanji tramp-stamp hacks. Apart from the tattooing, the shop serves as a legit gallery and is a highlight on the Arts Walk. The decor itself is cool as shit, with tattoo flash wallpaper, eclectic tiling, creepy toys, stained glass, and a generally bizarre style. The shop is bright, clean, and utterly professional. The guys themselves are funny, accommodating, and do excellent work. I'll recommend 111 to anyone. read more

I agree with everything Albertro said. When I can't make it to North Carolina to go to Ace (which is pretty much all the time), I head over to Muncie to visit Shannon at Ground Zero. This is a clean, friendly shop with two very talented artists. I recently had Shannon design a tribute tattoo to my dad... I emailed him with a short paragraph about what I was thinking, along with some photos of tractors (Dad's into farming and restoring antique farm equipment) and he ended up drawing something so gorgeous that I seriously almost cried. It went way above and beyond my expectations and I LOVE it. He also has great ideas if you're not sure what you want... he's very cool and easy to talk to. While I haven't had any work done by Nate, he is equally as talented and laid-back. The crazy art on the walls and around the shop isn't for everyone, but it's interesting and different than what you see at other shops... even the flash is cool, and you'll almost never hear me say that! I don't judge tattoo shops/artists based on their prices, but I think 111 is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of work. Definitely call and make an appointment... they get a lot of walk-ins. And they only take cash, so make a run by the Chase ATM a couple blocks down before you go in. read more

My sister and went together to get pretty basic tattoos on our forearms. Daniel did our tattoos. We asked for black and grey ink. Both tattoos were done in blue ink. Neither tattoo was centered. My sisters tattoo got dangerously infected. She had to go to her dermatologist for help. She asked for a crescent moon with a black cat sitting in the moon and two bats at the top of the moon. We both asked for the Pharisees belle âme, which means beautiful soul. I had to argue with Daniel to get him to position the tattoo where I wanted. He finally snidely said, "it's your body"! So, I called to request a refund and the person I spoke with yelled at me and used the word f-uck several times. The shop did not offer to fix our tattoos. In fact, I was told they were not going to refund money or even fix our tattoos. I would not recommend going to this tattoo shop for the most basic tattoo. I especially would not recommend Daniel. The only reason I did one star is because I couldn't do this review without doing one star. Infected tattoo will be uploaded following this review. Do not use this tattoo parlor!!! read more

By far the best shop in Indiana. My favorite shop I've ever been to, and I've been to shops all over the country. If you are heavily tattooed, you need to check this place out. It's the ultimate tattoo temple. If you are looking for you first, or first few tattoos, this is the place. This is my second review. I went in for a cover up of a bad tattoo. This was the third time of trying to get this tattoo looking right. Nate did the cover up, which is completely different than the first dolphin I had wanted, but I love it!! Plus, when you're covering something up your choices are limited, right?
