I was visiting Saatchi during their Flowers installations. The collection was just ok, could be better. Since there is admission fee I was expecting more art works on the view. Saatchi is accessible facility with walking distance to public transport. Crew at Saatchi are engaging and very helpful. With so many other galleries and museums in London, I wouldn't recommend visiting unless they have interesting artworks on view that compromise the entrance fee.

But they are so much more, they complement public art galleries and museums with their exhibitions. Sprüth Magers is a particularly lovely example situated as it is in such a beautiful location. Not only do you get to see amazing art (they specialise in conceptual, minimalist and feminist art as well as photography), you get a rare chance to enter a perfectly preserved townhouse - the old-fashioned lifts alone are worth a visit, and pay attention to those beautifully worn wooden floors - for as close a feel of a past era you will ever get. The building itself is imposing and you certainly also get a sense of the owner's German heritage in that reception can be rather understated (isn't this meant to be a very British attribute?), but you won't be turned away and will be rewarded with a brief escape from the business buzz and designer consumerism dominating the neighbourhood. If, like me, you are fascinated by urban decay, industrial settings and black/white photography, then the current exhibition of Bernd and Hilla Becher is a must-see. They were last shown at the Tate - and you don't go there wondering how much each piece would cost - but rather to enjoy the displays for the art of it.

The stuff you see on the walls always leaves you feeling like you have been educated in some way and that your mind has been expanded. Some of the visuals can be pretty moving, just because of the subject matters that are presented to the viewer. If you are a FOTO8 member you can get reduced price entry for certain exhibitions. Generally it isn't as pricey as the National Portrait or the Tate so it won't break the bank and I really cannot recommend paying this place a visit.

The Fountain gallery is an asset to Bridge Road. We need somewhere like this. Although it is a…read moresmall shop it is amazingly effective. The premise is that it is a cooperative art gallery. It is collectively run by 18 artists who showcase their work here on alternate times. The Fountain Gallery also have guest artists. Usually each artist is allocated a certain period of time in which to showcase their work. I believe that the times are not fixed. Most artists seem to take it over for about a month. During this time they oversee the gallery, so customers can come and talk to the artists about their work. The art comes in a mixture of forms. Generally it is painted work, most in watercolours, sometimes there are photographers who exhibit their work. Occasionally there are potters. Although the gallery closes at 6, I have often walked past and seen open evenings, it is worth phoning ahead to find out what is on.

It's a co-operative of many artists so the exhibitions change frequently and, as a bonus, are run by the artists themselves. Come here to enjoy the art in relaxing surroundings, perhaps with a glass of wine to enhance your pleasure. Talk to the artist and buy anything from a postcard to a limited-edition print or even a full-blown oil painting or sculpture. If you want to turn yourself into a work of art you can sometimes buy, or commission, a pretty piece of original jewellery too.

The Parasol Unit, a foundation for contemporary art, is an exhibition space promoting current…read moreworking artist's projects. The foundation is privately funded and not-for-profit so it's free for the public to visit. They put on three to four shows a year and most exhibitions are dedicated to one artist whose work is spread throughout the two floors of light and airy gallery space. It's really easy to get to, just off city road (in between Old St tube station and Angel), and open every day except Monday. They also hold evening events including poetry reading, film shows, and exhibition talks every other Thursday. I saw the exhibition by Charles Avery called the 'Islanders', which was totally captivating. The artist has spent 10 years creating texts, drawings, installations and sculptures which make up and describe an imaginary island. The work was clever, intricate and detailed. I was even compelled to go back and see it again the following week. This has just been replaced with an exhibition showing 12 years worth of work by Y.Z. Kami called 'Endless Prayers', which I intend to see this month. I have high hopes for every new exhibition on here as the history of the Parasol Unit is impressive and has so far only shown thought provoking, inventive, new work by exceptionally talented contemporary artists.

I went to see the stilling works of Persian painter Y Z Kami, which got a great write-up in the Independent's culture section. The work he showed at the time was pretty diverse. The main space was given to these large scale frontal portraits of a range of people whose stories aren't told, looking somber and silent, staring forward. Apparently some element of the painting style leaned towards Fayum portraits which accompanied mummuies to their graves, but I've never seen one, so I can neither confirm or deny the fact. But knowing that information alone is quite strange, in that such a rich history contrasts with the story and context-less people he has painted. He has another set of collages, called Endless Prayers, a series of glued, brick-shaped cut outs from religious tomes, set in dizzying, hypnotic circular patterns. A historically intriguing and sober experience.

They are printed on high quality fine art paper; a shop that started 10 years ago with only 30 prints has now grown to 500 prints from photographers and art directors world wide. If you know you photographers you will find pieces by Francine Wimham, Fernando Aceves and Allan Ballard. If you don't have a clue what I am saying then you will see artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Bob Marley. They are rare instances of these famous people's lives and they are quite penetrating in that sense. In any case, an Allan Ballard, Bob Marley contact sheet digitally printed will cost around £1100 for A1 size. I cannot see how that is accessible to the public and fans.

A decade later, rockarchive is a worldwide name in photography stores with branches in major cities all around the globe. This is the Chelsea branch, located on the ever Sloaney Kings Rd. I really like this store; i could never imagine being able to afford any of the photographs, but harbouring a dream to be a rock photographer myself it's like research to peruse here, My only complaint is that the staff seem rather elitist. Check out their website for the catalogue of bands that they have prints of, some are simply beautiful and inspiring. Jill certainly did something right, and her popular brand is testament to this.
