The lobster was my favorite, as you could still get the full flavor of the lobster and the tempura added to it rather than just make it feel like it came from a chip shop. Very hard to do classy, AAA, fried food but they pulled it off. The wine list also a big plus, nice selection at quite reasonable prices. Service was stellar, very good pacing between courses and professional without being stuffy. Again, one of my favorite dining experiences on the island (and would be very good almost anywhere).

Went with a couple of friends and ordered Royal Flush Banquet and was generally pleased. First it truly was a banquet, a ton of food for a very reasonable price. It started with a platter of appetizers: salt and pepper spare ribs, crispy seaweed, spring rolls, prawn toast and chicken with satay sauce. Didn't love the salt and pepper spare ribs as they were breaded and deep fried (and I think bought at Robinsons). Everything else, though, was excellent. Then there was a course of crispy aromatic duck. Really enjoyed that, but I usually really enjoy deck. For the mains, we had steak cantonese style, lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork, king prawns with broccoli and fried rice. The steak was good, not fatty or chewy, pretty good quality. I loved the chicken but it was deep fried in a very sweet lemony sauce, so not for everyone. They brought us sweet and sour chicken and then brought the pork once we pointed it out. It was typical, and actually the pork and chicken were pretty interchangeable. I am not a fan of king prawns on the island, they are tiny compared to king prawns most places. That said, they tested good and were not overly fishy. The rice was also nice. Too stuffed for the dessert but one in our party did order the ice cream but was brought banana fritters. When pointed out, they effectively dropped a scoop of ice cream on the plate. So the food plentiful and pretty good. Almost dropped them a star as they made two mistakes on the order (sweet and sour chicken instead of pork, fritters instead of ice cream) but stuff happens. You also get a 5 pound chip to play in the casino with the bill, a fun touch.

Whilst service was a bit slow (busy Friday night) the staff were courteous and helpful. I actually highly rated the yang Chow fried rice (great flavour & spirited wok aroma) and broccoli prawns which was more of a crystal glaze than thick oyster sauce bath which is what the title would imply. Sometimes simple things and simple flavours are best - broccoli was cooked aldente with just the perfect snap upon bite. Give it a go, particularly the yang chow fried rice and try the non-deep fried foods which seems to be where this restaurant shines.

I chose the Spicy Chicken Chorizo and my wife got the Chicken Skewers. The bowls and portions were huge so we shared and still could barely eat it all. We ordered New Zealand cider that was really good. It was a week day so they were not crowded. We sat and enjoyed our meal, drinks and the free wifi. They are located right on the docks with a beautiful view. We'll go back when we return next year.

I tried most of what was on offer as we were a party of 10 which meant lots of variety. The olive bowl was ok but was a bit under seasoned and needed a bigger kick of garlic and more seasoning. Similarly the meatballs were also under seasoned and didn't taste like anything except a bit of bland tomato sauce. I also had so pork belly which was also bland and super greasy & not in a good way. I know its pork belly and is going to be fatty ( i told the chef and that was his reply) but I have made pork belly before at home and it tasted nothing like that. My pork belly was succulent and didn't sit in a pool of grease and was seasoned. The chef said people order it loads but i don't see how or why. Best avoided. I also had the chicken and spinach dish which had some sort of cream sauce running through in it. That was probably the nicest thing although again (you guessed it) under seasoned. Now for the good bits. They have Bitburger beer on tap and as far as i know are the only place on the island that does. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Its a very relaxed atmosphere. The drinks selection of vodkas, whiskies is quite basic. No grey goose or long list of fine whiskies but that's ok as they have enough to satisfy most. I will come back again and think others should give it a try if just for the atmosphere. The tapas were on the whole good for the isle of man but just not up to the standards of Spain. More spice please!

My main was a special of the day and definitely the highlight, dover sole grilled in butter and garlic. They had offered to prepare it however I liked but the waitress suggested it in this manner and I loved it. The fish was very tasty and the butter and garlic were great. Had creamed spinach with it that was also very good. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse. Nice strong flavour and relatively light dessert after three courses. They also had a good, reasonably priced wine list. Finally, found the service quite friendly and French without the bad parts of French.

For the main we had the chateaubriand (the tenderloin fillet) and it was good. It was originally served rare when we ordered medium rare but this was quickly corrected. The staff were very attentive and service was good. The chateaubriand came with sides of mushrooms, fires or potatoes, veg and onion rings. We decided to instead order sides from the menu and got creamed spinach ( very good and you should order this! my wife raved about this.) fries ( crispy and salty as they should be) tomato salad ( It was ok but nothing to rave about) mushrooms ( again, ok but not something to go crazy about) and baby potatoes. (surprisingly they didn't charge us extra for changing our sides. Very impressed with this as I expected and was prepared to pay for this.) We wanted to have dessert however I was too stuffed! If you are above 4 foot in height and more than 150 lbs then you need to be aware that this restaurant is not built for seating comfort. Still, will I be back? You bet I will. The food is a 5. First, on a nice day, it is the perfect place. Literally on the beach, with views out to sea (I could see a cruise ship on the horizon) and of everyone enjoying the beach. Outdoor dining so really taking advantage of the weather. The food was also good. I decided to go hyper-Manx so had queenies with bacon and garlic as well as chips with cheese and gravy. Both were quite good, though the portion of queenies seemed small. That said, they were well cooked, flavorful and the bacon was plentiful. The salad was surprisingly good, not just lettuce/rocket, but tomato, cucumber and even strawberries. The chips with gravy and cheese was also nice. Served very hot, the chips were very crispy and the cheese plentiful. All in all, a great experience on a great day.

There was no Haddock when we went. We arrived right on opening time 11.30am as did everyone else and the dining part was full in minutes - all adults. Lovely bright blue interior. Service is at the counter - and order came minutes later.

I love the curry sauce to dip those delicious chips into, along with malt vinegar. The service has always been quick, and the price is certainly right! I can't say enough great things about this chippy, I wish we had a comparable concept here in the states.
