Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, the 14th & Chestnut Community Center is a faith-based non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Terre Haute children. Headed by Pastor Bill Felts, whom I had the privilege of meeting during one of my Tenderness Tour events, the 14th & Chestnut Community Center offers Kingdom Kids After School Program, Summer "ROCKS" Program, Grumbling Tummies Cafe, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard Food Pantry, a Clothes Closet, a Computer Lab, and a Mom's Matter Support Group. 14th & Chestnut really targets its surrounding neighborhood, an urban setting where Pastor Felts has spent years building relationships and truly integrating himself into the neighborhood. The Center has a positive relationship with nearby Indiana State and even recently had some ISU students visit to help Center students with their reading. While COVID-19 is certainly impacting programming, they've been able to creatively maintain such traditions as a Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas presents. To meet Pastor Felts is to meet a man who is clearly passionate about his mission and ministry. My Tenderness Tour was able to make a small donation to support the work of this ministry in Terre Haute and while the organization has lots of programs and offerings it's also the type of organization that truly appreciates donations big and small. I was actually in town to do a fundraiser for another organization, but I came away from this organization super impressed by its team and how much they accomplish.
