When I got to the pay area I realized there was only ONE cashier open, and all the rest of the terminals, which used to be manned by human beings, are now self-serve only. The one cashier was busy with a customer but took the time to ask me if I wanted to use the self-serve (which I obviously would have done if I'd wanted to - Duh!), and I said "no". I turned and asked the man behind me if he wanted the self-serve and he also said "no" and sounded as annoyed as I was. What has happened to customer service? Stores just don't give a damn about their customers anymore! Instead of standing there waiting for that one poor woman to finish with the customer she was serving, I decided I'd find somewhere else to spend my money. I dropped the items I'd planned to buy on the counter and walked out, never to return. Another sorry development is that the famous Michaels coupons (now 30% off, used to be 50% then 40%) are now usable ONLY online! I can see where this is going, closing all the bricks and mortar stores and going online only, putting all their staff out of work and making it impossible to see what you're buying before purchasing. Each painting was of different dimensions and on wood of varying thicknesses. The owner helped me pick an appropriate frame and he custom-mounted each piece of art so that they all were flush with the frame. The backing of each piece was professionally finished as well. Yes, it's on the pricey side (about $80 for each of my custom frames) but the end result is that my artwork will last a lifetime in these frames! The actual frames exceeded my expectations and were prepared on time. Will certainly return as I build my art collection.
