Misleading, unfair and possibly fraudulent…read more Do NOT trust 1Rebel. My experience as a 19-year-old student was a nightmare - and I want to warn others before they lose hundreds like I did. - In November 2024, I joined 1Rebel after being told I could buy 10 sessions for £144 - with no mention of a long-term contract. I followed the instructions and paid. I attended 6 sessions and that should have been the end of it. - In March 2025, I bought a further 10 sessions for £220. Then, without any authorisation, 1Rebel charged that card £144 four times - a total of £720 in just two days - for a '12-month contract' that I was never told about, that I never agreed to and that I never signed. - When I complained in person I was told I was supposedly entering into a 12 month contract - something I never saw, signed or agreed to. We were never notified in advance of the recurring charges and they charged a completely different card to the one used for the original purchase. What is happening now? It has been almost 4 months and I still have not received my money back. There has been 1 phone call and 12 emails between me and 1Rebel and still no resolution. No refund and no compensation. All my complaints against 1Rebel have been either ignored or misrepresented: - I claimed it was against the Consumer Rights Act to make bulk transactions if the transactions were to be made monthly - 1Rebel said it was probably because my card was not working during those months (my card was working, it is the only card I use in my day to day life) - I claimed that when I purchased what I didn't know was a membership there was no warning about the cancellation policy and refund policy. - 1Rebel sent me screenshots claiming there were warnings about the policy, I went on my phone, my laptop, through the website and the app to check if this was true and it was not, STILL there were no warnings. - I was told I shouldn't have any questions as it was all in the T&Cs. - The only time I saw these T&Cs was when I created a 1Rebel account... in 2023!!!!!!! If you are forcing people to sign a contract for 12 months you should at least have some warning that it is a trap and you can't cancel until the contract is fulfilled. I am still trying to fight for justice and my rights... Avoid 1Rebel at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They trap customers in hidden contracts, charge unauthorised fees, and ignore your rights. There are much better, more ethical fitness providers in London. I have heard a lot of similar cases lately and am now collecting them to prepare a class action lawsuit and complaint to the consumer protection regulators. If you have encountered such violations, write to me at 1rebelfraud@gmail.com and together we will retain our rights and demand compensation

I thought the place itself, while it clearly was trying to be like "chic grungy" came across as just not that nice - I would have liked nicer/posher amenities for the price. The one nice touch were the chilled towels, but everything else came across as very like, rustic? I hated the treadmills - I found the belt to be very hard to run on, and the speeds changed too rapidly so I found myself almost tripping. The screens weren't super sensitive so I had to press buttons multiple times to get it to change speeds. The floor section was fine, but I was hoping for more core. The instructor was great and I liked how the workout was described to us very clearly and definitely planned ahead of time - he was great and I have no complaints about the class layout. Overall not my favorite class, but I would maybe come back to try one of their other concepts.

From the very first time I walked through the door they treated me like I was part of their local OTF family. Szilvia was the first person to greet me, and it was a fantastic first impression! She is high-energy and made me pumped just talking to her. She took me on a tour around the studio and made sure every question I had was answered to my satisfaction. She is a real asset to OTF Aldgate, and her Instagram skills are second to none! The manager of the studio is Julie, and she keeps the place running like a well-oiled machine. She is a hands-on manager, and you will often see her at the front desk and mingling among clients. She represents the studio and the orangetheory brand well! Marius and Meite are fabulous instructors, and both will motivate you to achieve personal goals you don't think you can achieve on your own. I consider them both friends and greatly appreciate the effort they have put into helping me achieve my personal fitness goals. For those not familiar with orangetheory, it is a 5-zone heartrate interval training regimen that is truly the finest workout I've ever done. The changes in my physical appearance, athletic performance and overall health are beyond amazing! There are not enough superlatives to describe what orangetheory has done for my health and appearance. They offer a free workout, so there is nothing to lose if you don't like it. But, if you are like every other friend I have convinced to go, you will quickly become the addict to the workout that I am! An hour investment of your day gives you so much in return.

It's back to BUSINESS people, I'm on a mission to be more fit than I've ever been in my entire life. Yes, I know... this will severely affect my yelping. :( GymBox is pretty nice... if I were to compare it to a restaurant, I'd say it's one of those trendy restaurants you go to for the nice atmosphere and cool decor. With that said, becoming a member comes with a price. Back in the states I was paying $30/month for a 24hour Fitness Super Sport. Right now, I'm paying about triple. How ridiculous is that?! Which is why I decided that GymBox will be my second home and I better get a bangin' body as a return on investment. Overall, you've got all the basic machines, free weights, boxing ring, and a variety of classes for anything you could possibly be interested in. You could literally spend an entire day in here and cross into multiple areas of fitness from MMA to dance to yoga to Muay Thai, etc. I've been to the Bank and Holborn location, and I prefer Bank. I believe the cardio machines at Bank are newer, however, the space is more cramped at this location compared to Holborn. On the surface, GymBox seems to be all clean and tidy and there are always people cleaning. There's so much to do here, you just have to GO and DO IT!

The whole thing boasts, "fun, party, etc" I really like their branding and think the whole dark concept with neon colours is really cool too. They have classes with trampolines, glow sticks, and strobe lights... Like this is pretty serious guys! Location - pretty much everywhere throughout Central London. I love that! After work, I can pop over to Bank or Old Street Locations. On my days off, I can go to Stratford Or Westfield..and there are other locations as well. Service - every time I've had a qualm or question, they've been very proactive and helpful about fixing and addressing my issue straight away. Experience - Very good overall and definitely worth the money. Probably some of the best classes any gym has to offer and great teachers who really go the extra mile to communicate with you and help you reach your goals Lastly, can I just say, I purchased a locker for the first couple months when I was only at one gym and one night, I absent mindedly left my stuff in the locker and the locker undone. I came back the next day to find everything right where I left it and even my locker still there (though unlocked)! This did it for me in terms of trust and service. Excellent gym! I'd 100% recommend to everyone!

Regardless of the time of day it is way too crowded now - even at 6am on Friday and 5pm on a Saturday you are queuing for machines. I have been a member for a number of years and in the last 18 months there has been a significant influx of people joining, I suspect due to the various short term offers that have been provided to try and persuade people to join the gym over competitive gyms that have opened round the corner as well as the other Clapham branch closing meaning all those gym goers now all go to the one gym by the station. Despite letting Fitness first know I wanted to cancel before my next renewal date and obeying the cancellation clause, I was told to pay for an extra month's worth of membership in order to cancel my contract. It's been a real shame the way they handle cancellations - I have been threatened with third parties collecting money if not paid by a certain date and daily emails from the branch offices telling me to settle up. It has now got to the point where I have been scared into paying another £85 even though I have not visited the gym in 3 months. If you want an overcrowded gym that won't let you cancel then this is for you.

I never thought I would like pilates. For some reason, I imagined it like yoga but without all the good parts, but it's actually quite dynamic and not like soul-less yoga at all. The studio offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced Reformer classes, their own spin on HIIT called TenHIIT, personal training, as well as massage. I've tried the Beginner Reformer class and TenHIIT. Reformer was was an hour long, small group: only about 4 people in the class, but I still would have liked a little more personal instruction. TenHIIT was an even smaller group: only 2, me and one other girl, in the class. Our instructor tortured us with a variety of strength and cardio circuits: weights, squats, lunges, jumping jacks... repeat x4 then onto treadmill sprints, TRX arms, burpees, plank... it was 45 mins of *tough*. Really, it's just like having a personal training session but on Classpass. The showers look nice (I showered at home before work) and there's towel service, which is convenient. 4 stars for small classes, great value, and variety from targeted Reformer for newbies like me to kill-me-now personal training sessions.

The pool is phenomenal. It's half-Olympic length and decorated with beautiful tiles. The lighting is subdued and it's cut into three lanes so you can pick and choose how vigorous a swim you want. In addition to the sauna and steam rooms, there is an aromatherapy room where you can unwind and forget about the stresses of your day. The equipment is first-rate and best of all you never have to wait while other people finish their workouts before you can jump on the bike/treadmill/etc. This is great if you're nipping in for a workout during your lunch break. They have some new equipment, Hypoxi systems, one of which looks like an instrument of torture and one which makes you look like you've just completed a moon landing but they are supposed to be guaranteed to show great results. The instrument of torture is a bike within a box and you need to wear a special suit while working out. This one targets your bum and thighs, while the other system involves a treadmill workout while wearing the special suit with pipes running off somewhere else, concentrating on your tummy area. I don't really understand the science but the vacuum created by the suit/equipment is supposed to speed up weight loss and toning. I would love to see if it works for the baby fat I haven't managed to lose from my tummy, but at £595 for 10 sessions it's a bit out of my price range. It's not cheap - individual membership is £72 a month, but it's so far above and beyond the likes of LA Fitness or Fitness First that you can justify the additional £15 or so a month for a central London health club.
