Raspberry almond apple cheesecake was amazing!! So fresh and flavorful!

The staff was so attentive and helped us solve our hunger before a concert with amazingly delicious food! They called back almost instantly too! The halibut was so healthy, flavorful, and light and the dessert was perfect!

The food is great here. We come back every summer. Staff is friendly and the chef is great. Creative menu and craft cocktail menu keeps us coming back. Old charm of Chautauqua views located in bestor plaza square. We have had lots of things on menu and haven't had anything I haven't liked. Brussels and naan appetizers was delicious too.

YES!!! Chautauqua has a bar, and not just a bar- practically a speak easy it's so awesome (just not hidden) :) "Good fences make great neighbors" drink is superb, I literally want to go everyday it's that good. Tastes like a beautifully concocted, savvy savory drink that you can't stop at just one. Bar tender is a magician! Live music, tonight it was jazz and they were great as well. Front room opens up for standing room or their are more tables on second level to look out over the park plaza.

Our server Danny was the bomb! It's a big deal that I'm writing this months after being here and I still remember his name. This was our first time there and we had a photo shoot after so we needed quick and asked a ton of questions. Very us. I ended up getting the hot dog and Daniel got the Rueben. This hot dog was so dang good. There were a few sauces that were super spicy but oh so good and the pickled carrots! So many crazy flavors but they worked so well together. I very much enjoyed my meal and it was way different than what I was expecting. The Rueben was a win for Daniel as well. We also ordered a lemon drink and a hot chocolate. But good, Daniel ordered his hot and cold and they were both so unique and delicious. It almost tasted alcoholic but it wasn't. My hot chocolate was the most rich hot chocolate I've ever tasted. It was almost too much in the small much I got. I had to share otherwise I would have turned to chocolate. So tasty!!! Definitely a unique place with a ton of character and great staff. We so enjoyed our experience.

Half way through the succulent Depeche Mode cocktail - pink gin with hints of peach, vanilla and honey with just a kiss of lemon twist...

So I'm a few sips into my new favorite cocktail - The Depeche Mode - I'm expressing my "Devotion" to 2 Ames! This is the place to go for amazing cocktails, great food and one of the best chefs in the east - chef Danny has created the perfect environment for before, during and after - cocktails and cuisine you'll keep coming back for.

The food was over-priced (especially given the quality), and the service was poor. Ambience was pleasant, though.

This year, our friends told us they had a great meal here, so we decided to give it another try. I'm really glad we did. The menu felt much fresher, with several interesting choices. I ordered the risotto, and while I wish it had been served a little hotter, it was delicious. The salmon was also excellent. At the end of dinner, I asked our server if Heirloom had hired a new chef because the food was so much better than I remembered. She said it was the same chef, but the team had worked together to improve this season's menu. Mission accomplished. I'm happy to update my rating to five stars. If you're staying at the Athenaeum, Heirloom is once again a restaurant I'd recommend.

We ended up quite satisfied ... delighted, even. We were greeted by the hostess, and seated promptly (this was important because we had a bit of time pressure), and had a very short wait for the server (Miranda, who will feature prominently later in this review!). We ordered, the strawberry/charred-peach/burrata/arugula salad for me, the ahi-guacamole + chips for my spouse (it was a light lunch that was needed). The food came promptly, and meanwhile another staff person had come by to verify that we didn't need to order drinks. The food was delicious, although I have just a couple small complaints: the guacamole overpowered the ahi tuna, so I think they'd be wiser to have the ahi in larger chunks. When the server came by to ask how we were doing, I mentioned that I liked the salad very much, but was disappointed to have only one strawberry (4 slices) on the salad. Miranda said, "Let me get you some more." She returned soon after with a small bowl of sliced strawberry (still only one, but I was pleased with her response and the good taste of these Albions -- which normally make a nice color appearance but rarely have good flavor). Anyway, if you are looking for a cheap lunch, go grab a sandwich at the other lunch venues. If you are looking for an experience -- the views outside of the lake and and boats, etc; the spacious dining room with overhead fans; the attentive but not intrusive service -- then do come here. At least for the lunch menu, I can recommend it very highly. And ask Miranda for an extra strawberry...

All the folks working were working very hard. There was no one standing around goofing off. Everyone seemed to be working toward showing all the guests, a wonderful time. To the food I don't know what to say. The food in the cocktails were something that I did not expect. I was overwhelmed with the intense creativity and flavor of the drinks the appetizers, the shrimp, the dessert. It was truly one of the nicest experiences that I have had lately. Don't miss out on this Gem.

We arrived BECAUSE of the expectation of listening to music while we ate - arrived at our 6:30 pm reservation. After we were seated, we were told, "the piano guy didn't show up." We were upset about the nonchalant way we were blown-off. Now, we had decent drinks + food BUT I don't think we'll return this season. No response to my Facebook message despite banner saying we'd hear back within 48 hours. Poorly handled all around. Should also mention we were not the only unhappy people as a couple of parties left after finding out there was no music. Very disappointed and can not recommend (anymore). UPDATE after owner comment: she says, communication was "not up to my liking" - ouch! My "liking" would have been something along the lines of "we're truly sorry but the scheduled pianist has taken ill." I would also have removed the flag outside saying "music tonight." YOU put the message on Facebook that you would respond within 48 hours. After my issue, you changed your message to "call us, don't expect a replay as we're busy". Really? Yes, better communication at the restaurant would have definitely made our dining experience more enjoyable. After setting expectations (Facebook reply time) - meeting them would have made me pause in writing this review :) Better training for the staff IS in order - it would not take a lot of effort to get everyone on the same message. In the end, this is not a huge deal. We're (merely) more disappointed after your response. We wish you well as past experiences have been fine. We'll move on for this season - and will probably try again next.

The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had breakfast in the restaurant, where the service was excellent and the food was as well. Twice Disappointed…read more We have now dined at this restaurant on two separate occasions, and unfortunately, both experiences left us very unimpressed--especially for a restaurant located in such a nice hotel and charging these prices. Our first experience was lunch in the spring of 2026 while we were staying at the hotel. We were extremely impressed with the hotel itself--the room, staff, and location were wonderful--so naturally we expected the restaurant to be of comparable quality. Sadly, it was not. Our food came out fairly quickly, but it was cold, and several items we ordered were missing. We then had to wait quite a while for someone to return so we could ask for the missing items and condiments, which were definitely needed to help the already subpar flavor. We left disappointed but decided perhaps it was simply an off day. We gave the restaurant another chance in August 2026 while celebrating my father-in-law's 89th birthday. Since this was dinner service, we hoped for a much better experience. His prime rib was actually very good, with no complaints other than the mashed potatoes being served cold. I ordered the Charbroiled Frenched Pork Chop, and unfortunately, it was awful. It had very little flavor and was dry and badly overcooked. The three onion rings served with it were rock hard, overcooked, and cold. They tasted as though they had been deep-fried much earlier and left sitting rather than being prepared fresh. I did send the onion rings back, but I chose not to send the pork chop back because I didn't want my 89-year-old father-in-law, who tires easily, to have to sit and wait while my meal was remade on his birthday. The coffee was another disappointment. At $15, even with a carafe provided, I certainly expected it to at least be hot. It wasn't. Our waiter was adequate and did nothing particularly wrong, but the level of service simply didn't match what I would expect at this price point. The interaction lacked the warmth, attentiveness, and polish you would normally associate with a higher-end dining experience. After two visits with many of the same issues--cold food, poorly prepared food, missing items, and service that doesn't match the prices--I don't think we can chalk this up to one bad night. The hotel itself is lovely, which makes the restaurant even more disappointing. With its location and atmosphere, this restaurant has the potential to be very good, but the kitchen and service need considerable attention. At these prices, guests should be able to expect freshly prepared, properly cooked, hot food accompanied by attentive service. Sadly, twice disappointed.

There is a public dock available just a couple hundred yards away from Tulip's. When we got there at about 11:30 on a Sunday the wait for a table was about 25 to 30 minutes. Plenty of room on the lawn out front to wait and even some outdoor games to play. We were called and seated at about 25 minutes; we had requested a table on the patio so my niece's dog could come along. Tulip's is located in a large Victorian house with a wrap around patio all overlooking the lake, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a summer brunch. Our server was great, friendly and helpful; orders are taken on a tablet and sent wirelessly to the kitchen. The menu has one side of breakfast items and the second side of lunch items. The food is slightly upscale without being overly fussy. There are some vegetarian items and others that can be made vegetarian by just leaving off the meat items. I ended up ordering the classic french toast, others at the table ordered sandwiches, corned beef hash, and omelets. Despite the restaurant being busy the food came out in about 10-15 minutes, all of the food being delivered by several servers; our server did check in to make sure that everything was delivered and that we were enjoying out food. Everyone enjoyed their food, portions were good, the food was well presented. My french toast was very good, carmalized on the outside custardy on the inside, slightly sweet and savory. It was presented with whipped butter and syrup. A nicely done classic and a great brunch. I would highly recommend Tulip's, a great place for breakfast and lunch. But beyond being massive, it was perfectly toasty and cheesy on top with layers of ham and Bechemel inside, and it sat in a pool of glistening hollandaise sauce. Our server, Misty, laughed when I told her that it should come with a disclaimer, but it was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten for breakfast. It came with a side of breakfast potatoes and a perfectly soft poached egg nestled on top. To top it all off, the coffee was divine.
