    Mezcal craft cocktail

The food is great here. We come back every summer. Staff is friendly and the chef is great. Creative menu and craft cocktail menu keeps us coming back. Old charm of Chautauqua views located in bestor plaza square. We have had lots of things on menu and haven't had anything I haven't liked. Brussels and naan appetizers was delicious too.

"Good fences make great neighbors" - mezcal drink - you can't just have 1!!!

YES!!! Chautauqua has a bar, and not just a bar- practically a speak easy it's so awesome (just not hidden) :) "Good fences make great neighbors" drink is superb, I literally want to go everyday it's that good. Tastes like a beautifully concocted, savvy savory drink that you can't stop at just one. Bar tender is a magician! Live music, tonight it was jazz and they were great as well. Front room opens up for standing room or their are more tables on second level to look out over the park plaza.

Our server Danny was the bomb! It's a big deal that I'm writing this months after being here and I still remember his name. This was our first time there and we had a photo shoot after so we needed quick and asked a ton of questions. Very us. I ended up getting the hot dog and Daniel got the Rueben. This hot dog was so dang good. There were a few sauces that were super spicy but oh so good and the pickled carrots! So many crazy flavors but they worked so well together. I very much enjoyed my meal and it was way different than what I was expecting. The Rueben was a win for Daniel as well. We also ordered a lemon drink and a hot chocolate. But good, Daniel ordered his hot and cold and they were both so unique and delicious. It almost tasted alcoholic but it wasn't. My hot chocolate was the most rich hot chocolate I've ever tasted. It was almost too much in the small much I got. I had to share otherwise I would have turned to chocolate. So tasty!!! Definitely a unique place with a ton of character and great staff. We so enjoyed our experience.

Half way through the succulent Depeche Mode cocktail - pink gin with hints of peach, vanilla and honey with just a kiss of lemon twist...

So I'm a few sips into my new favorite cocktail - The Depeche Mode - I'm expressing my "Devotion" to 2 Ames! This is the place to go for amazing cocktails, great food and one of the best chefs in the east - chef Danny has created the perfect environment for before, during and after - cocktails and cuisine you'll keep coming back for.

We ended up quite satisfied ... delighted, even. We were greeted by the hostess, and seated promptly (this was important because we had a bit of time pressure), and had a very short wait for the server (Miranda, who will feature prominently later in this review!). We ordered, the strawberry/charred-peach/burrata/arugula salad for me, the ahi-guacamole + chips for my spouse (it was a light lunch that was needed). The food came promptly, and meanwhile another staff person had come by to verify that we didn't need to order drinks. The food was delicious, although I have just a couple small complaints: the guacamole overpowered the ahi tuna, so I think they'd be wiser to have the ahi in larger chunks. When the server came by to ask how we were doing, I mentioned that I liked the salad very much, but was disappointed to have only one strawberry (4 slices) on the salad. Miranda said, "Let me get you some more." She returned soon after with a small bowl of sliced strawberry (still only one, but I was pleased with her response and the good taste of these Albions -- which normally make a nice color appearance but rarely have good flavor). Anyway, if you are looking for a cheap lunch, go grab a sandwich at the other lunch venues. If you are looking for an experience -- the views outside of the lake and and boats, etc; the spacious dining room with overhead fans; the attentive but not intrusive service -- then do come here. At least for the lunch menu, I can recommend it very highly. And ask Miranda for an extra strawberry...

In addition to less than mediocre food, the service was terrible. A very bad restaurant in what once was probably a lovely setting.

I'm writing to recommend a fantastic restaurant in Bemus Point: Splash…read more My wife and I recently purchased a home across the lake in Bemus Point, and we are both very active in Chautauqua. One thing I've noted is that great restaurants are not particularly numerous, but they do exist. Being a performer and presenter with the Capitol Steps for 24 years, I traveled all around the country and appeared in almost every major (and minor) city more than once. And so, having eaten out on a regular basis literally all over the map, I am confident you can't go wrong if you give Splash a whirl. The food is always delicious, the wine is amazingly high-level, and the venue design, staff, and owners are top-notch. My wife and I particularly love the scallops, the shrimp shooters, and the meatball/sausage combination. And once you try the flourless chocolate cake, it's hard to go back to any other. Adding to that, I particularly love the retro design of the place with lots of big-band music, and even old classic shows on the television. Very cool. I highly recommend and hope that everyone gets a chance to patronize this wonderful, local establishment.

We were the only people in the restaurant on a weekday in the late afternoon, which was odd, but in this case it led to incredibly personalized and attentive service. The food was delicious -- nothing that blew us away with originality, but well executed tapas that are easy to recommend. The wine choices were pretty solid as well. Given the chance, I'd like to return for dinner when there's a live music with the piano that seems to be the focal point of the room! There doesn't appear to be a multitude of higher-end restaurants in the local area, but this definitely falls into that "nicer" category.
