So I want to start by saying I'm not being mean here, I'm just being honest and I really don't want to see someone get screwed over if they call 24/7 when what they really need is a reliable cab.
Having said that I really don't think this cab company deserves even the one star I HAVE TO give it.
I used them about five times which may seem ridiculous given how unprofessional a company they are, but I always shrugged it off and Chalked it up to maybe just a bad driver on a bad day. Once I got the same service from the same drivers I realized that it was as I feared just a terrible service.
The cabs/drivers -
First off I will say the cabs are normally clean but on occasions smell like smoke.
They are (on the bright side) always a comfortable temp.
The drivers are rude, no doubt about it. I grew up downtown Chicago where cabs were an everyday part of my life and for sixteen years of using them daily I never ran into cabbies this rude.
Punctuality/time management -
Out of those five rides they were NOT on time once.
The closest they came was thirty-six minutes after the agreed pickup time.
The longest being two hours and forty-one minutes.
As I said before, I grew up using cabs and always called no less than one hour before I needed to be picked up, I'm not an idiot, I know not to call five minutes before I want them there. The time I requested pickup was never a problem, I was told every time that they would be there at the agreed time, but it just wasn't true.
The drivers for some reason insist on taking the longest possible way to get to your destination which obviously makes your ride cost more.
Professionalism/business ethics
On top of the drivers being rude and generally trying to rip you off, the dispatchers (who I was told by the drivers are also the owners,) are remarkably unprofessional.
If your cab is late THEY WILL NOT CALL YOU.
If your cab is late they will answer your call asking about the ETA of your cab once or twice but WILL IGNORE you after that.
The dispatchers will blatantly lie just to get you to hang up.
They will tell you literally anything they think you want to hear.
If they feel that you are bothering them they will just hang up on you.
The LAST time I called them for a ride I called at 9:12am and asked for a pick up at noon. That is just under three hours before I needed to be picked up. I again was told that time would be just fine and that they would be there.
They of coarse were not.
I called at 12:15 and asked if they knew how much longer the driver would be. I was told he was on the way and would be there in ten minutes (12:25) and that they would call me if anything changes. Ten minutes later the driver was still not at my home so I gave him another fifteen and called again at 12:40. I was told again he was about ten minutes out and that they would call if anything changes. Again at 12:50 he was still not there so I called to cancel my cab as I had called another company. They did not answer. I then called them nine more times over the next twenty-six minutes (1:16pm)which they responded with a combination of ignoring the call or picking up but not answering, just hanging up.
At that time the other cab (krazy cab out of valpo) had arrived so I left.
Let's skip to 2:41 pm when the 24/7 dispatcher called my phone yelling because I was not there and his driver had been waiting for (in his words) "seven fu(ing minutes". I told him that I didn't need his cab, that I called another and that I tried to call to which he told me "not everything is about you". I asked him if he though it was good business practice to blatantly lie and he said "yes".
I literally don't know what more I can say about this company. Please avoid it at all cost.
I would recommend Krazy cab, or just try to hitch a ride with a friend.
Ps. Also, I think it's important to add that I always tipped no less than $5 on a $14 ride and that seems more than fair. Even if your cab is garbage, it's polite to tip. read more
