Great place for lunch or breakfast. Had a really good Tuna Melt; quite tasty and filling. Some of the best fries ever! Interior had plenty of comfortable seating. Friendly service. Will return!

We were looking for a place to stop for lunch on our way from Shelburne to Middlebury and came across 3 Squares Cafe a in the quaint town of Vergennes, VT. 3 Squares Cafe is the type of hip cafe you'd expect to see in Vermont. The dining room is colorful and eclectic. The sandwiches we ordered were made with fresh, home cooked items. The service was friendly and efficient. If you are in the area stop by 3 Squares Cafe.

While passing through the quaint town of Vergennes, VT be sure to stop at this restaurant. We had the most delicious breakfast. Friendly staff will take your order from a variety of creative breakfasts items. The atmosphere is a wonderful warm country feel. Choose a coffee mug from a shelf of down home varieties and pour yourself a cup. Be sure to stop and enjoy the food, service and atmosphere.... you won't be disappointed.

Reuben on Sourdough bread, no Thousand Island dressing, mustard on side

Excellent food, service and atmosphere! We came here with our 7 year old grandson for an early lunch and we all walked away very happy. The menu is varied, with both substantial meat and vegetarian options, many of which were creative and yummy. The portions were very generous without being crazy (I finished it all). The staff are so accommodating! I joked that I am like Sally in "When Harry met Sally". I made lots of modifications with my order and they were not fazed and all and happy to roll with it. The adults had: 1. Reuben sandwich without Thousand Island dressing, on sourdough bread, with undressed greens, salad dressing and mustard on the side. Absolutely delicious!! 2. Vegetarian Reuben sandwich, which sounded great and was enjoyed. 3. Tuna melt The 7 year old had: Hamburger with french fries - child's portion. He can polish off a sizeable amount of food for a kid, but the child's portion was plenty for him. They also have this cool thing that if you take a picture of your time at 3 Square cafe and post via an app they give you the link for, a meal is donated locally. What a great endeavor! We will definitely go back sometime!

First, the food was really good and I love my French toast. The service was great. It felt like it came instantly. and the ambience was really nice and comfortable.

3 squares was definitely yummy, the man at the counter was awesome, but the prices are a little high for the portions and type of restaurant. The breakfast burrito was good but we should have requested the sour cream inside. The panino was yummy and a good portion with the breakfast potatoes, but definitely needed more bacon. The kids loved the pancakes, but $13 for 3 pancakes is slightly high. The endless coffee was an added bonus! We would definitely go back, just feel it's a little pricey.

Mushroom truffle scramble w/side of bacon.

Ambiance: Basic downtown cafe / coffeeshop, but with great breakfast options. Water is free, coffee is available from a coffee station to the side. You order first, then pick a spot to sit and they bring the food. Service: Very good, although a portion of the work is done by you. Food: Good. The Challah French toast my spouse had is great, and of course Vermont maple syrup. Bacon was overdone for my taste; it's as if it had been sitting out in a warming area for a long while. I had the mushroom truffle scramble which was good in its own right, but the home fries were also overcooked for my taste, and also over seasoned. Home fries shouldn't be this hard. But, it's great to have a local breakfast spot as close to home as this, and I'll concede we got there a bit later in the morning; will have to see if an earlier time might improve things.

Really cute on the inside and tons on the menu. I didn't even see the board with specials on it until after we ordered. Some of the best food on my trip so far. We got the banana walnut pancakes so fluffy light and with the syrup delicious. I got the smoked salmon toast which was packed with salmon so much I almost didn't finish it. We got inside of bacon and home fries which were good as well. Super nice place to hang with family grab a quick bit and you can see and smell the food being made. Def need to stop her for breakfast or lunch

My wife is a big burger fan (FYI: she raved about her burger, too), so I decided to try the place out, since we were in the area. Bit hard to locate, but parking was fine. Since the weather was good, we ate outside. There is both open air & tent-covered seating options. Speaking of seating - you must memorize your table # BEFORE going inside to order as meals are delivered to your table. I ordered the "Big Daddy M": 6oz beef, medium-cooked, with Bayley Hazen blue cheese, caramelized onions, bacon bits, garlic aioli, bibb lettuce and red onions. What a heavenly, savory combination. Each bite was full of flavor. And the French Fries? Well, super tasty as well - I ate every potato fried crumb. At other places, fries are usually bland, but not here. The order service inside was pleasant and quick; be sure to note the chalk board with a list of food options (e.g. my Wife ordered a custom burger, just the way she wanted). After ordering we went back outside to our #'d table - wait for the food was relatively quick. When done eating, just leave your baskets, etc. on the table (there is a sign stating this practice). Note: while I did not have kids here, there were plenty of families with young kids & toddlers. I definitely want to try this place a 2nd time.

I ended up getting the side salad which was also really delicious - baby lettuce with cucumbers, pumpkin seeds, cranberries with a vinaigrette dressing. This restaurant is pretty casual - you place your order at the bar and find seating anywhere inside. The kids meals were also a sufficient portion of food. Their truffle fries were excellent!

The restaurant was built around a 1921 Hacker Craft wooden boat, beautifully restored by friends of mine at Morgan Marine in Silver Bay, NY. The boat used to house an actual salad bar, pre-Covid. Now it's just a beautifully appointed mahogany boat in a big room just past the hostess station. The rest of F&I is a series of small and large rooms, some very intimate. There are artifacts everywhere (that you need to explore). Recently visited w best friend, Locomotive Breath (formerly known as Zagbolt). Sat at the bar. Seemingly lots of locals. Very capably waited on by bartender Andre. He was effective, efficient, and gregarious. Perfect young man for the job. We split a dozen wings (one of the specials which were smothered in an orange, peppery glaze). Delicious! I also had a cheeseburger w bacon. Perfectly broiled on a substantial bun. And onion rings. Plentiful. LB had a mesquite chicken panini w mashed. He loved it. Large selection of tapped and bottled beer, wine, alcohol of all kinds. One thing that kind of caught my attention was another patron's prime rib. Very fatty, on the thin side, $39. Did not think it was a good presentation or value. F&I is still one of the best restaurants around. Museum-like, and good food. Curtailed hours compared to years past, and looking for help (of all kinds). 4 stars

Two Brothers was the choice from the desk so we went with it and so glad we did. Place looked pretty busy, bar was full, we were seated pretty much right away. The menu is smaller (perfect amount of items , hate too many choices) but done well. We love doing shareable so we can try a bunch of different things. The mussels were the absolute show stopper here, different than most. Tequila, spicy, little bits of sausage, (i would have drank the broth or made this a soup it was so good) The Poutine was different than I was used to, it was our least favorite but still ok. This is just a personal preference but I'm used to being smothered in gravy, it was almost non existent. It's like the ere was a ladle on the bottom and fries on top so didn't get a lot of it. The street corn dip was really good, much different than others I've had as well but in a really good way. It was hearty with lots of corn, had some nice spice to it. We also had (not pictured) French onion soup, loved it, nice peppery, piping hot. The cheddar ale soup, best I've had, literally you can taste all the components of this, rich, thick, creamy, sharp cheddar with a hint of the ale in the background. For dessert we took the donut holes to go, the colors dip was amazing, the chocolate looked like it was seized up a bit, we also ate this a little later so it could have been us and not from then. This looks like a super fun place to belly up at the bar, it has the hometown feel , we are already planning a stop on our drive back later this week!
