I've never had croutons that style. It was a gorgeous dish. My filet was one of the most tender steaks I have ever had, including on 30A. My husband's sirloin (steak & frites) was also so tender and delicious. The steak sauce included in the steak and frites did no service to the steak and it was much better without. Additionally, I would have loved my asparagus plated separately. Only other issue was a drop of water that landed on my face in the hallway to the restroom. In town for one night and wanted a good dinner. Didn't have to be special and fantastic but it was! From the decor to the waitstaff service to the food and finally the personal touch from the manager, this place turned into unexpected very pleasant experience. On a Monday night without reservations, I and a co-worker walked in at 6:30pm. Greeted quickly and friendly at the door then quickly seated near the back where we could observe the obvious regulars. It was evident that some locals know they have a good thing. Our waitperson was pleased to learn we had not eaten at 36 before and she immediately told us of the specials and preferences. We took her word on the steaks and both ordered the 8 oz filet medium rare. I ordered the 36 wedge salad and my co-worker ordered the tossed green salad. Drinks and bread came quickly. The bread was a warm sourdough and wonderful. Our salads were large and delicious. The 36 Wedge salad comes with the signature blue cheese + cream cheese crispy baked croutons. I don't understand how they were both crunchy and melted in my mouth but they were incredible! The steaks arrived right on time served over a huge portion of mashed potatoes and stalks of steamed broccilini Both steaks cooked perfectly and sooo tender. Good first impression. You get the feel of an upscale experience. They won brownie pints for having more than one choice of water! A Pellegrino with choice of fruit is lovely. Marie, my server, was knowledgeable on varietals of wine. Actually pulled me from my traditional Chardonnay to a burgundy/Chardonnay blend. Great flavor. Much lighter and creamier than I'm used to. The menu was a bit beat up. That surprised me as well as the inability of the pages to stay put. Liked a bit shoddy, but that was a small thing. Menu is 8 pages and only 1 is food. However, the server really knew her stuff. Also, I never felt slighted as a single diner. That's a nice feeling. Sometimes a single diner can feel a bit out of place as servers are disappointed by the prospect of a smaller check. I didn't feel that here. As a bread baker, I appreciated the sourdough presented. Salty, tender inside and crusty exterior, it was a nice starter. Music is an interesting eclectic. I also watch the staff dynamic when I'm dining. I didn't notice and side conversations. Staff seemed to be engaged with the task at hand. The scallops arrived and smelled fantastic. A slightly spicy glaze dressed the perimeter. Perfectly seared scallops were placed on a bed of corn relish. The relish has fresh corn, asparagus and squash tidbits. (Sidebar: if you split and take the seed bed out of yellow and green squash it stays crisp! -they did that!) The entree is a 16 ounce Strip...medium. I was served a 16 Strip...medium. Had I known they were going to do it right, I would have ordered medium rare. The sauce glazing the steak was acidic and deep. Broccolini was prepared crisp tender and accompanied a creamy potato puree. The steak was like cutting into the cliffs of Dover. Beautiful and pale with enough sat to make you cry. If you are going to drop a bill per person on a meal, this is the place to do it. A beautiful glass of a Shiraz and I'm set. read more

Can't say enough about the staff, the build out, the food or the ambiance. Having lived my adult life in Dallas, Texas where places like 36 (and much higher end actually) are abound, I have to say that 36 is about the best you can do anywhere near here. I was so excited I proposed to me now fiancé between dinner and desert and our server videoed it and took several pictures for us and comped our desert and brought us champagne on the house. We're in a pandemic, I'm trying to support local restaurants and they're not providing carry out! This really bothers me. Carlos and Garrett behind the bar make a fantastic dirty martini and great bourbons for old fashions. Now the food... Very short and sweet menu. We had the scallops pan seared and huge on a bed of arugula and mustardy aioli. So yum! For our entree we both had filets and love a perfectly rare steak. I requested the steak and frites which normally comes with a sirloin to sub a filet and no issue at all. The staff is wonderful. Find a little miss named Hope for a great server and of course Vanessa is the adorbs blondie helicopter-ing around the room as a great owner should. What a fantastic dining experience! Wow. This place is expensive, but the food is great. I went here on a Saturday night with a friend. I'm glad we made a reservation because the place was packed. The restaurant itself is immaculate and very classy. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and three servers said hello to us as the host led us to our table. Our server, Tim, was so pleasant and friendly. He seemed genuinely excited to hear that this was our first visit and he explained the entree selections in detail and made recommendations. My friend is a pescatarian and Tim told her which dishes would meet her dietary requirements. After we ordered, Tim brought freshly baked sourdough bread and butter. The bread was really good. Each of us started with the traditional Caesar salad and it was delicious -- light, lemony, garlicky, with tasty croutons. My friend had the swordfish and it came with a beautiful summer vegetable medley and a light tomato sauce. It was so good! On Tim's recommendation I ordered the filet mignon and it was the best steak I've eaten. It came with garlic smashed potatoes, grilled broccolini, and a mushroom sauce. I did everything but lick my plate. Throughout the meal both Tim and the host checked on us. Our water glasses were refilled several times and the bread replenished. We were stuffed, but we had to try the desserts. I had the white chocolate creme brûlée and my friend had the chocolate torte. Both would make anyone weak in the knees. So..... my mom treated my wife and I to our first meal here for our anniversary. While I don't know the owners directly, I know the father of John Eric Klein and the sister and brother-in-law of Vanessa Klein. Ever since they opened up, they've been the talk of the area. Last night's experience did not disappoint. I traditionally go with a dry wine, usually a Chardonnay or a Merlot, but went with the Cabernet last night at the suggestion of our waitress Jamie (who was fantastic). It was the perfect pairing for the rest of the meal! While I didn't personally have a salad, the rest at our table did. My wife said it was the best Caesar salad she had ever had; my mom tried the Beet salad and loved it; her husband had the Wedge salad that was the best presentation I have ever seen on one, and came with blue cheese / cream cheese croutons that were evidently "the bomb". We all had the filet mignon, and I discovered they could cook it "rare plus", which is between rare and medium rare. Oh my... the cut of meat was phenomenal, and - for me - the demi-glaze mushroom sauce was ever so present that it adequately complimented the beef, but in no way overtook it. I have eaten filets from coast to coast and can not ever remember a better one. The mashed potatoes were equally delicious, but they knew the star of the plate was the meat, and played along accordingly. We were served an apple empanada on the house for dessert, paired with a small scoop of maple bourbon ice cream (this thing isn't even on the menu), while my mom and her husband had the apple crumb cake that was recommended by Jamie and lived up to its billing - absolutely scrumptious!!! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fabulous sourdough bread that was served throughout the meal as we desired. There is a sprinkling of salt on the crust that almost gives it a "pretzel" like flavor, but the crust is firm while the white is soft and moist, the perfect loaf to compliment any meal here. Furthermore, what helped make the evening special was Jamie. She was knowledgeable about everything on and off the menu. She was patient and attentive, and fun to joke with. She didn't rush us at all, but always seemed to around at all the right times. Our entrees were not served until all of the salads were done and the plates removed, which was a much appreciated pace, but not one we are used to. We spent a couple of hours here and enjoyed every second of it! Finally, what caught us off guard was how many people we knew that we ran into here. They have a couple of interesting appetizer choices, all of which were good. The wine list had some good finds; the Napa Cabernet by the glass was a standout. Their bread had crystallized salt on the crust and was obviously fresh. The entrees are well prepared and very generous in portion size. I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because five out of eight entrees are steak and nothing is particularly inventive or unique. Don't get me wrong, steak is great, but I can grill a good steak at home. Its nice to get something special at a restaurant I can't do at home. At the very least, they could offer steak prepared in different ways. Never-the-less it's a good restaurant and I recommend it. This was an incredible dining experience! The ambiance is cozy with such character. The cocktails were perfect and every dish we had was incredibly delicious! I had the creamy squash soup which was devine! The mixed green salad was colorful and fresh with the apple cider vinaigrette dressing a light and tasty touch. My husband and I shared the 16 oz grilled Ribeye medium rare, cooked to perfection with a little mushroom demi glaze. The steak came with garlic smashed potatoes and the best grilled broccolini I have ever had! Because it was my birthday, we were treated to a bread pudding which had the most amazing flavor. I've tried many a bread pudding and this is the best! Lastly, the service was attentive but not overly hovering.
