The food here is bland and underwhelming. I paid just over $35 for a lychee lemonade, beef brisket pho with extra beef ($2) and spring rolls (+20% tip). The only thing I could compliment is the lemonade. Service was terrible. At about the 20 minute mark my lemonade made its way out. At 45 minutes the spring rolls came out, I'm shocked the SOUP was the last thing to come out. We're talking about SOUP here, wtf? At that point I just asked them to box it all up. When I get home, I realized there was no toppings. I got exactly what's pictured. I did learn a valuable lesson though. This place makes you pay AND tip up front. The food was fresh and the restaurant clean and attractive. I had the chicken banh mi, and found it tasty. The bread was fresh and crisp and the chicken plentiful. We also had the vegetarian eggrolls, which were crisp and filled with fresh vegetables and vermicelli. Rolled a little clumsily, but tasty, with a good dipping sauce. My husband had the vermicelli bowl with fried tofu, and seemed to enjoy it. While it was more expensive than we expected, most restaurants these days seem to be about the same, and the quality of food not as good as this was, so I'd recommend it. read more

I've circled around the shopping center anticipating for the open of this new Viet restaurant. I had high hopes for this restaurant and hoped it would be a reoccurring go-to pho spot in Irvine. Walked in the door and was warmly greeted by a young highschool girl. Place looked great and the interior was hip, but looks aren't all that. Ordered their bo luc lac after hearing the cashier recommend it (which they don't have anymore despite being open for a short period time) and their egg rolls. Egg rolls had an unconventional wrapping, seemed to be rice paper. Was cold and not crunchy. Paid a good 17 dollars for the Bo luc lac, and was given mostly bell peppers and a few bites of steak. It was average. Decided the give the place another shot. Came a week later. Brought my family, and this time we planned to get the pho. Same teenage girl served us, customer service was a positive experience she was kind and helpful. Purchased 4 rare beef phos, total came out to be around 80 dollars. Once again, was disappointed. Small servings, chewy noodles, and they rip you off on the protein. Not much beef, and wasn't gonna pay the extra amount to add additional slivers of beef on top. Although, the broth was good. Overall, this place is okay. Despite the great interior and decor, the servings are small, the flavor and quantity of the food doesn't justify the high price point. It's been a while since I found an excellent Vietnamese restaurant closer to home. Most of the time, when I crave Vietnamese food, I tend to drive quite a way to Westminster or Bolsa for authentic Vietnamese food, but when I saw this place going home, I decided to try it. I ordered my usual meal I would typically order at other places, and these are my thoughts regarding the food: Grilled Pork Noodles and Egg Rolls with Vermicelli Noodles The pork was grilled very well, where the meat was not dry and had a decent char for the smokiness. The marinade gave robustness to the pork and adding a touch of the fish sauce brought out the Vietnamese flavors. This is pretty rare that I've encountered a place that added peanuts to this dish. Growing up eating this dish, my mom always added peanuts to give this meal a bit of crunch, bringing a lovely touch. The egg roll was not super greasy and had a good crunch when biting into the wrap. Lychee Lemonade The drink was refreshing and tart to my liking, complimenting my meal. Pretty disappointing and seems like they're working through a few issues. Came in during their soft opening. Initially didn't see someone at the register space. Turns out she was squatting on the floor behind the counter looking at her phone which was kind of weird. Ordered the ox tail pho, but unfortunately they said they were out of some of the vegetables. For drinks, looks like a limited selection and they don't have fountain drinks or diet sodas. When the pho came, the broth was just ok, but the meat was incredibly tough. Usually with ox tail you the meat to be fall off the bone, but not the case here. Just pointless ordering this if they're going serve it like that. Could get a knife and fork to cut some of that meat off the bone, but even that would be a mess in the bowl and you'd be stuck chewing it for while. Don't recommend. read more

The main differentiator here is that there is someone in the kitchen that knows and cares. I've visited this place a few times since the opening to see how things would change. When I first went, the broth was extremely flavorful (but a bit sweet) and tasted like it was made from scratch without any assistance. The meats were also a higher quality compared to regular pho places that all get supplied from Minhs Meats. Since then, it seems like the management has been slowly winning - the broth tastes more like it's getting assistance from a mix, the meat quality is a little less. What would make this place work more is letting the chef do things they way they want. If that results in things costing $2-3 more, that should be allowed to happen. The way to differentiate in Irvine is by offering a higher quality product rather than conform to average and overcharge Also the egg rolls were terrible and different from the picture. I had high hopes for this place but ultimately did not have a good experience. I'm not sure if I stopped by when they were having an off day, but I encountered the following: 1. 20+ minutes to take our order/ had to call the waiter over because they seemed to have forgotten 2. 30+ minutes to receive food 3. We ordered the loaded banh mi fries, shaking filet mignon cubes, and Thai iced tea: The loaded banh mi fries were not good -- they sounded promising and even looked good, but the fries didn't really have much flavor. The shaking filet mignon cubes were alright, but to be honest, it's much better elsewhere within the same area. The Thai tea was decent/ pretty standard. 4. Another 30+ minutes after we finished eating to get the bill/ had to call the waiter over I don't know if I'll give it a second try in the future, but as of right now, I wouldn't recommend this spot. read more

The service is great. Friendly, prompt service is always nice. The food is pretty good. My hubby and I have been twice and we've ordered the spring rolls, egg rolls, chicken plate, pork plate and filet mignon pho. We liked all of the dishes, our least favorite would be the pork plate. It is expensive and the portions are small. The flavor is below average, as well. It is also one of those places where you order when you first walk in and then they bring your order to your table, like a fast food joint. This place is a zero. There's no zero option so I have to give it a one. We bought a banh mi and some spring rolls to-go. When we got home, we discovered that the banh mi was literally thrown into a narrow sandwich bag that was definitely not narrow enough because all the contents fell out. It was a mess. We had to reassemble the sandwich entirely which honestly, I suppose it can happen if they were in a hurry. BUT when we called to tell them what happened, their attitude was very flippant, kind of like a "who cares" sort of attitude and then they asked what we wanted. How about a sincere APOLOGY? The girl on the phone asked if we wanted our money back and when we said yes, she puts us on hold forever to get the manager, only to return herself and asks us to take pictures as "proof." By that time, we had already reassembled the sandwich and eaten through it. We just said forget it and hung up. All of that to say, the service is horrible and the food was not good. I REALLY wanted to love this place because it lives where my all-time favorite Thai restaurant used to be, but it's just OK. I've had my fair share of Vietnamese food as a daughter of Vietnamese immigrants. The food is good, not great, and didn't feel super authentic and more of an Americanized version - nothing wrong with that, and also what I kind of expected. The portion sizes are smaller than expected- my grilled chicken was four pieces. Idk where to start. I was looking at the reviews and wasn't sure how I felt. I love pho and trying different places. I was excited that there was gonna be one next to a couple of my favorite spots over in that plaza. When I first walked in I was greeted and the storefront was really nice and the restaurant was very modern and clean. They remodeled and it looks so much better than the business before that. I was looking at the menu and it was kinda minimal with some questioning items. I know there was some fusion going on. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet. Means Special Combination Pho. I also ordered the grilled pork spring rolls. To make my long story short. I felt robbed. I paid $18 for a Dac Biet and there was nothing special about this bowl of pho. There was so many sliced onions on it, sprigs of cilantro. Not chopped and no scallions. Then comes the meat. It was very minimal, I mean MINIMAL amounts of variety of meats. And the meatball is one of my favorite and it tasted alittle off. Then on a normal Pho Dac Biet there would be the rare mean (tai). And there wasn't even any in my bowl. It was so Mediocre. I was disappointed but I still ate it. The broth was alright. Nothing for me to brag about. But that is the one thing I look for is the broth. And it was okay but nothing that warms my soul on a cold day. If the broth is good, I don't need to add seasonings like Hoisen sauce to my soup. But this I did. Then my spring roll came after my bowl of Pho. Looked appetizing but the roll wasn't rolled well. The rice paper was really chewy. And the veggies for some reason was a mouthful to chew. So much sprigs of hard to chew chives and and leaf and stem of mint. The dipping sauce was basic peanut Hoisen. I got 2 rolls and paid 8.50 I think. The most exciting part of my mean is their jasmine Ice Tea. But they don't give refills? So that was a bummer. I've been to a lot of Vietnamese and Pho restaurants and they always have refills on plain Green Jasmine ice tea (Tra Da). Over all the restaurant was new and clean and staff was nice. But I would never come back. I don't Ming paying good money for good to amazing food. But that was a rip off. I left unsatisfied with the food. I could of went to another pho restaurant and paid less and didn't feel bad because I get what I paid for. What makes this place different from every other Pho Vietnamese restaurant??? I know in this area there is a few but what's makes them different. I will drive alittle further to go to my favorite spot and pay $18-20 for a bowl of pho because the broth is good, the offerings are better and the meat and variety of meat is WAY better. There's absolutely nothing special about thier pho... had the chicken one Pho Gah... n they had a few pieces of breast but again so so expensive. The ban mi was better... ingot the chicken. The bred was nice n fresh n that was a $10 price... for two people 2 pho and 1 sandwich we were at $50... what a bad experience for at best ok food. The inside does look nice. read more

Don't waste your time. Server had us repeat our order several times and still brought the wrong thing to our table. We didn't send the food back because we didn't want to be wasteful and got charged way more than expected since we didn't return the food. They "offered a discount" of $5 but we still paid for food that we neither ordered nor consumed (took home leftovers to attempt to salvage).
