We all decided to meet...and, I can affirm Sabine H knows her stuff. What a wonderful recommendation :) If you are familiar with Blue Bottle, Stumptown, etc in the States...Vits Kaffee will please your coffee-feigning palate just perfectly. If you aren't? Well, you're in for a treat, too! It's actually quite a large spot with many seating options, and very convenient to public transportation. Arriving around 2pm, our mellow group took over the back corner with couches. I think its meant for kids (some toys/games) but also really nice for a group of 7 or so to catch up and have some extremely lovely coffee. By 4pm all the tables were filled with weekend revelers....and the din elevated significantly. The sound was a bit loud, but very congenial and jovial. My two drinks: a cappuccino (swan milk foam art!) and a hot cocoa (this one came with a bear!). I actually preferred the hot cocoa, very rich and dark and such an indulgent treat. Some key points: *they roast in-house. It smells divine. *They have an extensive menu that describes all of the beans and procedures, and even information on how you can learn to make the milk foam designs! This may be motivation enough to learn German. So I can make milk foam like teddy bear faces. It really does make the experience better, it does! *table service or counter service is available. Our server was very helpful, and several stopped by to make sure our group had everything we needed. *cash or german bank cards only. Peach tart - (€3.80 = $4.20 USD) - Out of all the things I tried the peach tart was my favorite, although it seemed more like a peach cake with some custard. Petit feur -(€2.40 = $2.65 USD) - This dark chocolate hazlenut tart satisfied my craving for chocolate. It was extremely rich and decadent. Overall I really enjoyed the pastries here. A few minutes later, our food was ready. The apple pie was delicious. It's the only piece I tasted while in Germany. The bagel was very good. You can buy the hot chocolate spoon things and they'll bring it to you with a hot cup of milk so you can sip on it while people watching. Otherwise, take it home or pack it up and fly across the country with it! Either way, a delicious treat :) I ended up buying some chocolate bars and a small gift basket as souvenirs along with the hot chocolate spoons I enjoyed outside. The packaging is ~aesthetic~ and makes a great gift!
