While I wish this review was about celebrating happy moments, it's instead about something deeper…read more-- love, loss, and gratitude. Late on a Thursday evening, I learned that my 16-year-old dog -- my best friend in the entire world -- didn't have much time left. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I remembered hearing about a local photographer, Liz from Brownhaven Photography, and her heartfelt project called Blossom's Buddies. Liz created Blossom's Buddies in memory of her two senior pups, Blossom and Lila, who she loved deeply and lost within months of each other. To honor them, she now offers free photo sessions for senior pets (10 years or older) or for any animal who's received a terminal diagnosis. After digging through old screenshots, I found Liz's info and emailed her around 10pm on a Friday night with the subject line, "Senior Animal Portraits? (My best friend doesn't have long left with us)." By 7:45am the next morning, Liz had responded, and we were making plans to capture my doggo's photos before it was too late. Despite already having a packed day ahead, Liz graciously rearranged her schedule and came to our home at 8am that Sunday morning -- just to make sure we didn't miss our chance. She helped us pick the perfect spot and set the stage for what would become an epic and emotional photo session. Though she offers these sessions free of charge, we made sure to compensate her -- because the peace and comfort she gave us were absolutely priceless. Within just a few hours, Liz sent a preview of the first few photos -- and they were stunning. Somehow, she managed to capture my dog's soul and spirit in a way I didn't think was possible. What I didn't know at the time was that the photos she took that morning would be from his final day with us. He took his last sleep just hours later. In the days that followed, Liz worked quickly to finish the rest of the gallery. Each image took my breath away -- I cried tears of both grief and gratitude, knowing that while I had to say goodbye to my dog's physical body, Liz had given me something I would never have to say goodbye to. Liz is warm, caring, compassionate, and incredibly talented. She showed up for us with heart and empathy on one of the hardest days of our lives. She gave me a gift I will treasure forever -- the chance to see my best friend's light and love live on through her lens. I will never be able to thank Liz enough for her kindness, patience, and artistry. And I hope someday our paths cross again -- under happier circumstances. Until then, I'll keep the photos she gave me close to my heart, and remember that love -- just like her work -- truly lasts forever.

I met Brownhaven Photography owner Liz Brown at the 2025 Soup Cook-off at the Carlisle Expo Center…read more The Soup Cook-off was a fundraiser for the AKT Foundation, a nonprofit that supports women and children impacted by Domestic Violence. Professional and amateur chefs made homemade soups, and business owners showcased their products and/or services. Liz provided free photo opportunities with fun props at the Soup Cook-Off. This will be an interesting review to do as my wedding was in 2007, but I only recently contacted…read morethem to get an album made. I was embarrassed to contact Conte so many years after our contract ended. Kara got back in touch with me quickly and made me feel at ease. She explained that, because of the time lapse, if I wanted an album I would start anew. The digital cameras of 2007 are not what they are now, but they were still on their server. Many of our photos were dark and hard to distinguish. Kara took care editing the photos we chose for the album and they turned out beautifully! I'm actually happy I waited to get my album b/c the quality of the originals were greatly improved upon. You could make out details better and the darkness was adjusted. Kara also did a little more digging and said my engagement session photos were also still available. I had the entire wedding photo collection and engagement collection added to a usb drive. I am very pleased with how the album turned out and can't speak more highly of Kara and her work. I hope to work with her again in the future.

Tina photographed our wedding on May 24th and we are INCREDIBLY happy with how it turned out! I…read morechose Conte because of the family-business feel I got from Mike Conte at our first meeting, and because one of their packages provides the one thing I wanted. Digital high-resolution copies of all of the pictures provided on DVD with rights to print. Most of the pictures that I will be printing will be for photo albums or weren't even printed and will just be in albums online. I don't need expensive prints for that, and wasn't about to scan over 500 pictures to create online albums. I did pre-purchase 4 8x10s and 4 5x7s to be able to get professional quality prints of a few for ourselves and family. Tina was a little late and missed out on the "getting ready" pictures, but honestly, I was so nervous at that point that I think it would have been worse if she was there. The way things turned out, I only have pictures of myself in full makeup and hair, and in my dress already. She was so attentive the whole evening, I don't know what I would have done without her! She was as concerned with making sure we were okay and didn't need anything as our maitre d'! The pictures came out beautifully, and she was right. Most of the pictures that I thought "what the hell is she doing????" turned out to be some of my favorites! Photography, however, is subjective, so feel free to check out the pictures if you'd like. http://www.pictage.com/client/event.do?event=468276 Event code 052408 1/2 star off for Tina being late. 1/2 star off for not including black & white/other edits along with regular shots, but I can do that on my own...
