I say 'may' because we don't know which flavour of chewing gum she ate. Let's start at the beginning. The Pug ate an entire packet of Extra Whitening chewing gum - there are 3 flavours of this type of gum, 2 of which have an artificial sweetener called Xylitol which is highly toxic to dogs. Little dog, big dose = potentially fatal. I mentioned she ate an entire damned packet, right? Called up the vet and explained, he said to bring The Pug down immediately. He was waiting outside when I pulled the car up, he ran over and scooped the Pug up and bolted inside with her. Really, really appreciated his urgency, esp. as he had other dogs waiting. He explained everything very clearly & concisely to me, then he and his assistant sprang into action. They put in eye drops to make The Pug puke, then sifted through the vom for removing gum and packet fragments, and from these tried to identify which flavour she'd eaten, and then measured the potential amount of toxicity, all the while allowing me to buzz around like an anxious mother hen. Dr Peter Lee, you're a damned saint my friend, really appreciate everything you did for us. You're a gentleman and a professional. The Pug is fine now, btw. Still stupid, but healthy as an ox.

They smirked too, but I think they tried to make sure he didn't see. A dog with claustrophobia? Surely you can't be serious. Apparently it is serious, though the symptoms manifest themselves in different ways to the human parallel. Anyway, with plenty of TLC and advice from Mosman Vet the poor shame-faced pet is regaining his composure - though it's not been a quick process. Plenty of patience and sympathy - particularly courtesy of the team of caring and attentive vet nurses.

So, I have been taking my furkid to these guys for the last 7 years…read more Only last week my fur man started to not eat so I took him in. Initial consultation and blood tests and other tests as well as antibiotics and food all came to a grand total of $506. Ouch, I know. But this is my furkid we're talking about - the money came out of my moving fund because you see, I'm moving tomorrow. I got a call from the vet yesterday saying I needed to take him back as he is extremely dehydrated to the point that the vet is concerned for his kidney's and that they may fail. Cue my hyperventilation. Being that I'm moving in a few days, the vet wanted me to bring him back in to be put on an IV to re-hydrate him to ensure his kidney's don't suffer. Sure no problem, however he refused to give me a quote on how much we're looking at because I wasn't sure how I could afford it without a payment plan. But the vet wouldn't do or offer anything apart from give me a guilt trip about how his kidney's are something that won't recover once injured. Gee thanks for the compassion and understanding. I've been a loyal customer for 7 years and just paid you a whole lot of money the day before. The least you could do after making me cry at work because you told me my cat's kidney's are going to fail and he's going to die is offer me some kind of payment plan so that I can bring him straight in as, in your words, "I classify it as a medical emergency". But no. You're heartlessness has cost you a loyal customer. If you're after a vet that cares, for the love of whatever gods you believe in, do not take your pet here.

I used to take my dogs here for all their vet treatment. Both dogs have long since gone to where…read moredogs go when they die and I now go to a vet closer to home. On Lexington Avenue in Bella Vista, if you go too fast you miss the driveway which is hidden. The large signs saying Sydney Animal Hospital can only be seen from one direction so be careful. The hospital is bright and cheery - it reminds me of a children's dentist. All the vets on duty are female and very caring of the animals. They explain things very well and give you alternatives if you have a seriously ill pet. They also have a grooming salon. You take your pet in the morning then pick them up after 3pm smelling and looking beautiful. The prices are very reasonable and they take credit cards. They have a full retail store where you can buy dry food for dogs and cats and all accessories. It's too far for me to take my current dogs there as there are several vets closer but if I lived closer I would definitely still be using them.

The vet nurse pauses to recognize me from earlier and replies " I'll put her in the...line...Ok!"...she then says " have to find somewhere to park your car, as other cars will be coming-in with there pets..." I did not know how to reply to that insensitive remark to my distraught state...as she quickly rushes back-inside...as I had also open my car door to check the state of my cat, moaning in agony in the heat...I suddenly looked at the least 6 or more people in-front of me...(Knowing if I stayed my cat/Meeska would be dead in minutes from the heat), who were obviously more concerned about there own situations... causing me to hammer-fist my car roof, looking at my cats worsening condition in the heat...I quickly...got back in my car and drove home...and placed my beloved cat onto the bath room tile floor and gave her a syringe of 20ml of water orally. 50 minutes later she was looking alright, so I went-out for an hour...but when I get-back home I found my beloved cat dead on the hall-way floor...I tried to resuscitate her through her nose...but her neck and front legs had already stiffen from the heat after only an hour....I still can not believe she is dead...I cried for over 2 hours!!! The vets themselves are very professional! PERSONEL REACTIONS: Despite there overal honesty, there self-honesty is lacking if they are unaware of their behavior? For some female staff that I've spoken too in the past and the recent events, it's now obvious, that some of the female vet nurses, have some major Gender-issues as seeing adult males...as aggressive and domineering to get what they want, with the mind-set of ape-man...the nurses gender-typeing is to self-victomise themselves at the expense of other's to justify provocative behavior of denial of your pet's needs and treating you as a ignorant-bafoon (General human behavior if observed). You can put this to the test by panicing and behaving helpless, or if you move unexpectedly with speed...they will see what they want to see...all in there own minds. They also assume you have no money, and try to get you to empathise with them, deglaring how expensive medications are awhile verbally trevialising the importance of your pet is too you without giving you the oppotunity to make other financial arrangements if need be in this direstraints situation. I moved to a much better vet who corrected a medication one of mt dogs was on, when one of my dogs got sick recently and I needed to claim on their insurance Vineyard vet refused to pass on their old history, they are vindictive and unprofessional. Do not risk thinking you can establish a good relationship with this vet at a moment they can ban you, better to choose any other vet near to you, you would fare much better.

Undoubtedly the best vet I've ever been too…read more Our 2 family Dobermans have received the best of care from the team here, as has my Devon Rex. From broken limbs to pancreatitus, cancers and skin problems, our pets always get special love and treatment. Every time I come in, the first thing the doctor does it take a moment to have a cuddle and say hello to my pets; they're always excited to see him. I was really surprised how calm and relaxed my Rex was when she first visited, as normally she's very shy and nervous of strangers, but she was perky and cuddly for the whole appointment! I also noticed (read: cuddle) ex-strays and rescue kittens that they foster/rescue which is absolutely fantastic! As for the care I couldn't ask for anything more. When my Rex came in very general symptoms, they were able to quickly diagnose her and keep in touch to update me with test results, which is a huge relief when your bub is sick. Of course she recovered quickly and is now back in action!
