Came highly recommended in paonia and did not disappoint. Delicious ! Photos with captions of our food.

    Kao Soi chicken

We came across this gem on the way to Aspen from Telluride. The restaurant looks nice and welcoming. The cocktails were delicious and creative. We got Pink margarita and lychee slushy something ( I forgot the name). Food were authentic- we had fried chicken, pad thai, dragon roll and kao soi. Highly recommend this place.

SUMMARY: Mediocre food…read more Despite the great reputation, well adorned facility, stellar location, and impressive menu, everything I ordered proved consistently disappointing. Calling this food ordinary is, at best, an overstatement. At each turn, my efforts invoked in salvaging the (food) entries was met with failure. Starting with a simple Caesar salad, the lettuce tasted several days old. Drenched in ordinary tasting salad dressing, the romaine lettuce became soggy from the presence of excessive dressing. The dressing was too strong in taste, akin to store bought lower priced varieties, and from this, proved difficult to eat. The portion was generous, however. WARNING: Do not order the minestrone soup. To explain: The minestrone soup proved ultra disappointing. With the amount that I paid, $12, for a bowl, I was expecting it to be of meal-like quality. Instead, it was also challenging to consume, being so vinegary, possessing a handful of some tomato slices and little else. It arrived lukewarm. Instead of ample carrots, beans, celery, onion, etc., with typically a delicious broth, all that I could detect was slimy tomato slices in a pool of vinegar. The "chef" needs to study quality minestrone soup recipes and completely start over, especially if customers are charged $12 for such. I was so looking forward to a quality and hearty minestrone soup. I haven't tasted anything so pathetic yet simultaneously overpriced, in years. Have they tasted this? It pains me to speak so passionately about something like this. But it was a disaster. The house bread? It was crunchy, also seeming to be dated, not stale, just not fresh. It wasn't warm. It was dry. The garlic butter was fine, but following the theme, ordinary, at best. I tried everything to make at least the bread come alive, heaping massive piles of garlic butter on it. Nothing could rescue the bread either. No olive oil was to be found anywhere on the table or tables in my vicinity. Very friendly staff was present, but their inexperience and lack of polish became annoying. Whatever virtue that the "soup" might have had was lost as it got even colder while she was talking ceaselessly to me. Yes, it arrived lukewarm before she was conversing. Friendly service, even if awfully informal, can't compensate for such a poor price - value relationship and mediocre food. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Perhaps they do a superior job on pasta dishes. Yet, upon perusing the menu, I couldn't find just a small or half portion of spaghetti. A jr. high aged boy near me somehow managed to order a small plate of spaghetti. While it looked ordinary, such would likely have proven sufficient tonight, even if such was likely only available on the children's menu. If this restaurant once served fresh and delicious food, something, at least of late, has woefully gone awry in the kitchen.

No need for junk burgers or chicken- relieved, we pulled in quickly. Glad we did. Met Nathan and his wife, the owners/cooks were super personable and helpful. Bravo, and thanks for the excellent lunch!

Since 99 Thai Food is a mobile food trailer usually around only for lunch, it's taken me awhile to finally track it down in Montrose. Currently making appearances Mo-Tu-We on the east side of Townsend Ave. near Subway or Mine Shaft Car Wash. (See their facebook page for updates) I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and it was delicious. You can modify the spiciness level when you order, Mild, Regular, or Extra. I went with the regular and there was plenty of zing. I ordered mild for the kids and that was just as tasty with as much punch. Service is very friendly and they got my order out in less than 15 mins. (Be sure to budget that time if you are rushing out on your lunch break) Since Montrose has very few options for quick affordable asian food, I'd say this is one of your best bets. I plan to return to try some of their other entrees, but if you want to play it safe, go with the pad thai!

There was literally no wait to go in. Later, some groups started coming in. In general, the owner was very friendly and seemed glad that we stopped by. It was sort of chilly outside, so I decided to opt for a MASSAMAN CURRY. It was delicious! Upon first sip, the curry tasted authentic like the other Thai spots around NY, so I was impressed. It was a solid dish. It had a decent amount of chicken, potatoes (which were chunky & had crinkled patterns on them - quite unique texture). Paired with the rice, I was quite full & very satisfied. The portions are excellent! The price is fair. I would recommend this Thai spot as a pretty authentic tasting spot!

I hit this spot on a Friday evening, and the space is actually legit--plenty of room to move around so you aren't cramped up while you're trying to wind down from the day. I started with the chicken Tom Kha, which was exactly what I needed to cut through the cold. For the main, the beef Pad See Ew held its own. The flavors were balanced and the beef was cooked right. I've had my fair share of Thai food across different cities, so while I wouldn't call this the absolute greatest of all time, it's definitely high-quality for a mountain town. It's good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a much better move than whatever quick-service options are at the base. If you want a meal that actually matches the energy of a good day on the slopes, check them out. It's a smooth, reliable four stars.

But the real 5+ stars about Hiro is all about the owners and staff. They are professional and kind (with a lovely touch of humor) and ALWAYS make you feel like you're an extension of their family. Sometimes hero's don't always wear capes, because the real Hiro's here lie within the strong bond and passion this family has for their restaurant.
