She took a two week vacation during the time my husband and I were trying to finalize our wedding date. He tells me it's normal, but no one I know takes off those two weeks between Christmas and New Year every year. Also no one I know goes on vacation and leaves their automatic email the same. "In and out of the office" does not tell me you're not going to answer until after New Years. She only said hello to my husband at the rehearsal, and then two days before the wedding she asks me last minute details. Why didn't she just ask me at the rehearsal? Also, right as I was getting settled after the ceremony and photos she not only asks me more last minute questions, but she then questions my answers to them. Who does that to an already stressed out bride? Just before I walked down the isle I had to explain to her why I didn't have a bouquet. Thanks for looking out for me, but do I look freaked out to not have a bouquet in my hands? Don't put your nose into my wedding when you were of no help before. In spite of how much I dislike how Melissa handled her job the staff was amazing, very attentive and polite. Everything was set up exactly as I wanted, though my husband and the grooms men helped with that because there weren't enough people to get it all done. Over all it really was an amazing day, and the help was incredible, just get rid of Melissa's lack of communication and I'd be able to give it five stars with ease.

The first thing that you will notice is that this park is beautiful. But beyond that, there's so…read moremuch to do and learn! We learned all about how tobacco is produced on the plantation. We learned about how the garden was used for medicinal purposes and food. We got to feed the chickens! We learned about cooking in colonial times. We learned about how cannons work and saw a can fired off a ship! We learned about how a print shop worked and even got to help print something! We also saw a cabin built by and for enslaved people, and learned how life changed for them after emancipation. It was such a fun day and I want to go back!

I was able to walk around the property on the paved pathways and not only see and read about the history of the buildings, but also hear from live historians and some of the locations. I arrived later in the afternoon and received my ticket at a discounted price ($3.50) compared to the $10 admission fee charged during the day for adults. I loved learning the history of this area while visiting from out of town. I highly recommend stopping if you can, but do give yourself minimum 2 hours (or more!!) to get through everything. We saw it in extreme and out seats were in row E. We had wanted them a bit further back and didn't expect them to be so close to the front. They also didn't have recliners like many newer movie theaters but they were cushioned nicely. The building was clean and concessions moved fairly quickly. They do not put extra butter on the popcorn, you have to do that. We would be back if we were in the area and wanted to see a movie!

First, be warned that this place very difficult to find. Google Maps took us to a house address and we had to call them to get to the right place. Once we got there, the view was beautiful. They asked us to sit down at a table and said they'd bring the wines over to us. The entire time, it felt like we were intruding on a private party (a lot of people were hanging around the bar - it may have been for their wine club). They weren't very attentive - they waited a long time between each tasting, to the point where it felt awkward just sitting there. We tasted four wines, then assumed the tasting was over because they stopped coming over. TL;DR: the venue is beautiful, experience wasn't great, but the staff (while inattentive) was very friendly. The wine was eh - none we tried were good enough to bring home. The only thing that made it better was that the tasting was free since they've just started offering that.

The River Concert Series runs through the summer each year, typically on Friday evenings in June…read moreand July, with varying concerts set on the St. Mary's College townhouse green. Their rather spectacular stage features a variety of acts; classical concert music, jazz, and choral arrangements, with a few surprises each year. The musicians are a mix of college faculty from SMCM and other local institutions, alumni, and current students, as well as featured professional soloists. The venue on the river is always beautiful, and while it's a ways out, it's directly on Route 5 and not difficult to find by car, and you won't be bothered by traffic for most of the way. Definitely reachable from DC or Annapolis or various suburbs. Parking is ample. Seats are not provided, but the area is grassy; this is the sort of scenario where towels and lawn chairs might be advised. Being a summer event, it is subject to thunderstorms. More frequently, however, it is subject to gorgeous sunsets in the background. The crowd is always at least close to full and blends county locals and people connected with the college, though it will depend on weather and the program for the night. The college does very little in the way of summer school, and thus there aren't generally a lot of residents around (a good thing for them, given that the festival is on their lawn). Various food and art vendors congregate next to the townhouse green, and sometimes local political campaigns. The concert itself and the parking are free. This is a great opportunity to see the college and the area and to experience musical performances which are worthy of a major urban venue, but welcome in this remote but special setting.
