It was a pleasure to work Sheena, Ciera, and Jesse. Ciera was the first to make a trip to the house to take measurements and provide samples to choose from. Jesse did the install. Ciera gave me updates via text, and Jesse texted me the morning of before his arrival as a courtesy. A swell group. Payment was easy with Zelle. Venmo is also accepted, but there is a 3% surcharge. I also appreciate their communication - they genuinely care about your requirements and work so well with you to solve your problems as if they are their own! Sharing my experience below with the hope that it helps understand what to expect. - 2023 Jul 20 | I requested a quote on Yelp with a long description of my requirements and a few photos. On the same day, they responded with an introduction of their company, a rough estimate for my project and many options that may fit my needs and the materials/brands of shades they typically use. I was very impressed by the fact that they took the time to read my long description of requirements, understand it well and crafted a detailed response. The prices they quoted were reasonable too. My main requirement was to reduce heat inside the house (in summer) from large windows up close to the ceiling that had no blinds/shades. The windows were so high up the wall, I was considering motorized shades. But they come with their own challenges - charging (every few months) or wiring. We scheduled an appointment for measurement on July 28. - Jul 28 | The field team came in right on time, measured all windows, and discussed many options and combinations I could consider for my application. Later in the day, I received multiple quotes - for motorized as well as manual shades, shutters, etc. - Aug 02 | It took me a few days to compare quotes from two other vendors who also visited my home that week. Their quotes were higher and they were not as understanding of my window needs as the 5 Star team. After detailed discussions for days that followed after the 5 Star team came onsite, I was convinced that manual cell shades with a skypole (for operation) would be the best application for my windows. And after months of installation (November now), I can confirm that it was an excellent choice, thanks to the team for helping me make an informed decision, instead of blindly upselling me a motorized set of shades. A lead time of 14 days was estimated. - Aug 08 | The team came in to show us color samples for the shades, and patiently waited as my wife and I took time to go over them and decide. - Aug 24 | They reached out to me to schedule the installation for Aug 26. Since we were unavailable, we requested Aug 28. - Aug 28 | Installed professionally in a few hours and demonstrated the operation using the skypole, causing absolutely no inconvenience. I initially contacted 3 companies for consulting and estimates and finally chosen 5 Star Shutters because of their friendliness, responsive, and professional experiences. One bay window in my house requires special handlings for the corner of two adjacent windows for internal mounting installation.
