Normally, I do not write reviews until I have tried the place at least a few times. I will make an exception for 5000 pies. The place is quite small; do not come here with a huge group. I would also suggest you call and order pizza; it can take up to an hour if you ordered one of their deep dish pizzas. The staff seemed were very nice they would cheerfully greet you once you step in through the door. As for their food, I have no complaints. I ordered 12 of their cookies for $4 and a spicy deep dish pizza. I never had a deep dish pizza before and now I can see what the fuss is about. It is literally a pie. There is a crust and it is filled with ingredients. Unlike traditional pizza, where they are placed on top of the dough instead of filled in. My spicy pie actually had some heat to it and the cookies, I have to say, they were really good; soft and chewy. Overall, if you are near by, give this place a shot. They have $1 slice pizza as well as wings and fries. 1 more thing if you check in on yelp you will get a free cookie; they are addictive so be cautious. read more

I'm no connoisseur of pizza, but these were amazing. Had the spinach deep dish and a pepperoni sausage bacon (custom I think) one last night. The crust on the regular one was flavorful and crispy. The website says Deep dish takes 45-60 mins to cook. I called at 7:06pm Saturday night. I was told I was too late. I said the website says 45-60 mins, Im within the time frame. She said, "sorry, we already started putting stuff away." I begged and pleaded! Offered to pay double the price. She still declined. Most. Epic. Pizza. Ever. A friend arranged for 5000 Pies to deliver several pies to budget office retreat. The pizza came in time--about the fifth hour of talking budget, numbers, goals, strategies, etc. But the knock on that frosted door told us it was time to enjoy the goodness! And time to stop nerding out. We had a slice of the pineapple and ham and that was so delicious!! And a deep dish all meat dish. I love that the tomato sauce was on the sweeter side. Just had my first deep dish pie and had a little trip back to Chicago. On par with Gino's East and Malnati's, et al. Having some family back that way I know a little about stuffed pizza, and by no means an expert, but I know what's really good. They build them correctly... Great crust, then cheese, fillings, then an incredible chunky tomato sauce topping that bakes into an awesome pie. The crust is interesting, a little thick but they tuck some cheese into it so you get a little cheese stuffed crust effect . It's a nice, light crust unlike other Chicago styles, so it's not too heavy but a little different. We got the spicy pie, which was, but I would make one adjustment to it. It's a great combination of ingredients, and their other pies look interesting as well, but the pickled peppers took over the flavor profile. Personally, I'd prefer fresh peppers, the cheese, sausage, and sauce would mellow the peppers but keep a good spicy flavor. Another really great reason to support 5000 pies is they're doing important community work which we all need to support. Oh yeah, they also have sweet pies and other goodies if that's your style. I was so stoked about my pie that I forgot to try their Dark Chocolate Pecan Pie, which is the only way to have pecan pie. The crust is perfect and the tomatoes are well-seasoned and balance the flavor profile. My favorite is the "spinach" which has 3 types of mushrooms, red onions, feta, and spinach. Cute little pizza place with no dinning area, only to go orders but the pizza it's very good and the cookies are great. The PJ and bacon sandwich is good but this time the bacon was undercooked. I would of give this place a 5 but this big tall guy with boxed beard was some what unsanitary he touched the trash can and then he handled our pizzas when he went to go wash his hands he only used water not like everyone also that do the right thing.
