Came to check out 808 ramen on a rainy day with my husband and it definitely hit the spot! The shop was nearly full but we ordered and were served quickly. The broth was flavorful, the char siu and eggs were cooked perfectly, and the bowls included plenty of ramen noodles. We also tried the mochiko chicken (highly recommend) which was juicy and had a nice crispy outer layer. The owners are also so friendly and radiate all the aloha vibes. I usually am hesitant with tonkotsu because its usually very fatty, however this is the opposite. Its very light and easy to eat with a mouthful of flavor. Blew my mind!! Went Saturday night during their soft opening. My son and I had the broke da mouth with spice level 3 and there was not one bit of spice to the broth. Broth came out lukewarm so the shredded cheese clumped up and did not melt at all. When I paid the cashier asked if we wanted anything to drink, I declined and asked for water. She failed to tell me that water was self serve so when the food arrived to our table I asked for water and was told by the young man that we had to go get it ourselves. Very small and tight space. Ramen is probably the worst Ramen I've ever had. The broth has no depth or flavor, and the noodles are even worse. This will be a Ramen place I would never recommend and I've been to a lot. I've had better instant Ramen from the grocery labeled Shin Black than this. Even the egg was not done properly and was extremely cold. My husband and I went here yesterday for dinner. We ordered the Diamond Head ramen, Loco Moco, spam musubi, and ikageso. Our food came out quickly (5-10 minutes) and was delicious. The people were very friendly and eager to hear any feedback on the dishes/menu. The ramen came with thin noodles. I typically prefer thick noodles, but was pleasantly surprised how good their thin noodles are. The broth was flavorful but not too heavy. They definitely can compete with the other top ramen places around town. The portion was big so I ended up having to to-go the spam musubi. The ikageso was really good, not greasy at all. My husband says the sauce could be jazzed up a little to take it to the next level (it seemed like just a plain tartar sauce). My husband had the loco moco. The egg was cooked perfectly (runny yolk but no "snot" on top of the white) and the patty had a great crust that ensured it kept its texture and didn't get drowned by the gravy. When we were about to leave, the owner said they're planning to expand the menu. We suggested they add a spicy grilled chicken dish (like some other Hawaiian spots have). Very friendly service! I really wanted to like this place. But as you can probably guess, we came away very disappointed. I'm not from Hawaii, but my wife and I love Hawaiian food so much, that we had a Hawaiian themed wedding. So we're no strangers to ono Hawaiian food. Starting with what was good, the Loco Moco was the tastiest I've had on the mainland. The gravy is rich and delicious. Unfortunately, there was just not enough of it. The burger patty was huge, and it was sitting on a hefty bed of rice. So while the surface was well covered, by the time you cut into it with a fork, most of it was dry. The Mochiko chicken was probably my favorite dish. That alone would be worth coming back for. I'd probably give those two dishes solid 4 stars. The mac and potato salads were good, but nothing super special. Now for the bad. The Pulehu Ribs were burnt and almost inedible. I tried two pieces. The better of the two was chewy, dry, and bland tasting. The other piece, I literally could not even chew. I did manage to swallow about half the meat, but the rest was seriously rubbery. Plus, the bones were HUGE- about the size of a small egg. For the price we paid, even average ribs would have been disappointing. I would not even rate them 1 star. I'd take L&L's over these any day, especially at 2/3 the price. I can't speak to the ramen here, but to be honest, we're leaving for Japan tomorrow, so it would have been unfair to test the ramen here, knowing what's waiting for us tomorrow. read more

Aloha! The restaurant is cozy, more of a let's grind and get to business. The workers which are only family operated from Hawaii is very welcoming and friendly. My husband and I did takeout and food was delicious. Can't wait to try the rest of the food on the menu. We are from Hawaii but now we live here in Roseville area and man let me tell you. It's hard to find local grinds nothing beats our food back in the islands. However, another Hawaiian told us about 808 ramen and we were like we need to check it out. Glad we did, we got two plates of Meatjun. If you have not heard of it or ever tried it then you have to. Only locals from Hawaii would know what Meatjun is. This has been a long awaited review that I meant to upload earlier. Try this spot a little while ago and it has been one of the most amazing Ramen spot I have tried in my life. I ordered broke da mouth ramen. I was hesitant on ordering this because it looks like it came with cheese and I've never had cheesy Ramen before. But it was super flavorful and the cheese was a perfect added touch. I recommend everyone trying this dish as it seems like it has been their signature dish and helps us get out of our comfort zone! 5/5 I also tried their short rib plate WOW I didn't even have a first full bite and I could already tell how flavorful it was it seemed like it was marinating for a long time. I was also a big fan of their macaroni salad as well. Leslie & storm were so amazing to us as well and provided excellent customer service and engaging conversations. We were in the mood for some Ramen and ordered takeout. The reviews looked great and this location was a lot closer than our normal Ramen restaurant so thought we'd give it a try. We had three orders of the Broke da Mouth Ramen which seemed to be the one to get based on reviews. We picked up the food and home within 5 minutes eating. The broth was warm hot. I was expecting super hot. The flavor was ok but didn't knock our socks off. The noodles were a generous portion so that was a plus. The pork in the ramen was a bit chewy. Typically melts in your mouth tender from other shops. This was just chewy and not just in one bowl but all three. Overall, it was edible and by no means bad but it just wasn't the great experience. We love Hawaiian food and excited 808 Ramen opened so close by but disappointed in our first experience. Based on all the other reviews, we will at some point give them another try and eat there to see if our experience is better. read more
