Open Space is my #1 favorite business in Fairfield. Open Space has a wide variety of classes, and…read moreyou can dabble in them all with the promotion that seems to run all the time: '$20 unlimited classes for a week.' You can find more about that at their website: http://openspacefairfield.com If you are new to yoga asanas, I would recommend starting with one of the Moderate Hatha classes, but if you are not a novice, you'll be comfortable jumping right into any of the vinyasa or hot yoga classes. The spin classes are fine for any level. If it is your first time to a spin class just let the instructor know and they will teach you how to adjust your bike. Similar to yoga, you get to decide how deep you go, by controlling the resistance entirely. If you're pretty intimidated by spin, try one of Diana's 'Rolling Ride, Moderate Spin' classes that she teaches in winter. Every teacher I've had at Open Space has been friendly and helpful. The fellow yogis and yoginis are also on the very friendly side. This is not just a place to practice yoga, it's a place to meet like-minded people in town. I would highly recommend the 30 day challenges that sometimes run. In the past, I have done 6 week yoga bootcamps that help me develop my practice in impressive ways, but they also leave me with injuries, like broken fingers, which ultimately set me back. The Open Space 30 day challenge is more controllable, because you get to pick from any class each day, mixing in Spin and Restorative Yoga if you desire. I spent the first 25 days of this past challenge avoiding the 'hot yoga' classes, and then discovered it is one of my favorite things ever - at least this cold winter! I felt that the challenge was just as beneficial as the bootcamp to developing my yoga, the difference being that when the challenge was over, I am not sick of yoga or injured! Open Space is a small business owned by a lovely Fairfield resident, Meghan. Open Space feels like a small positive community, one that you support and it supports you. If it is your first time, you can park in the municipal parking area behind the building, where there is also a door from the back alley. Or, you can choose to park on the square. Parking is free and easy to find! In the warmer seasons, the central location make it a very easy place to walk to. The only thing I would change about Open Space is to remove the studio mirrors. It takes me out of my practice to some degree, although, if I am honest it has probably helped me to become more aware of my alignment in some asanas. Alas, the world does not revolve around me!

This is the best studio in Fairfield to find a variety of yoga, fitness and dance classes! Even the…read moreyoga teachers have different teaching styles, so it's a place where everyone can find a class that suits them. I'm so grateful this exists in this tiny town!

Welcome to Fairfield IA TM center! I usually don't comment in review sections but I felt compelled…read more to somewhat rebuttal the earlier reviewer regarding this particular TM center. My daughter who is 17 was taught TM here at the TM center. We came from New Orleans, LA to get her trained here. The practice of TM is one of the gifts I am giving my daughter as a graduation present this year. TM is the gift that keeps giving in my opinion. My daughter will have it for the rest of her life which makes me happy to know that she now has a special tool to face life with me by her side or individually as she flourishes and goes off to college. I felt that the level of teaching delivered and repetition of the information was necessary for her to completely understand the whys and expectations of what happens in the physiology when one transcends. An earlier reviewer said that there was too much repetition and talk about the same thing I disagree with the opinion as each time I listen to the training I remember something new thus allowing me to experience a more enjoyable transcendence leading to more bliss. The price is the price; no one who comes here should expect 5 star hotel quality accommodation. The facility is practical clean and comfortable. They even have wifi. People may have a more plush experience at a spa however when one comes to learn TM we are coming for the technique and training not the facility. It is my opinion that the price of TM should never be looked at as one does when shopping to find a bargain. The technique is priceless as it will last for a lifetime. In closing, the facility is accommodating clean and practical. The teaching and knowledge of the program is phenomenal and the teachers are experts in the field. The technique is scientifically backed thus when one comes to stay for a week or a few days you are getting the accommodations as a convenience but you are really getting the tool of TM WHICH IS PRICELESS and backed scientifically if practiced correctly. Repetition by the teacher is done because there is so much knowledge which is given during in TM training, the teacher just wants the student to have it all and remember and understand it all . In hind sight in my opinion some of the teachers words are forgotten until we hear them again therefore we must not think of repetition of knowledge as a bad thing we should see it as the teacher's concern for their students.

I loved this place...a wonderful, relaxed center where you can learn TM, as well as follow up or…read morehave your meditation checked (kind of like a "10,000 mile" personal tune-up). Or just stop by and get your questions answered by certified teachers of TM. There are also pleasant, quiet rooms with private bathrooms where you can stay if you're learning TM, or if you're in Fairfield for a TM weekend or one-day or weeklong retreat, or if you're taking an advanced course. You can have meals just up the street at the all-organic cafeteria at Maharishi University of Management. I thought that the meals were amazingly inexpensive...$8 for breakfast buffet and $10 for lunch or dinner buffet. There are also all sorts of other places to eat in Fairfield only about a mile away. Seems like kind of an ideal setup to me.
