I have been a musician my entire life and from time to time have needed repairs done. One of the the OLED displays on my Nord Stage 3 keyboard went dark after 7 years. I ordered the part and called a repair shop (where I had some warranty work done before) and they quoted me 2-3 weeks for the repair. Alex along with his technician assistant did an excellent job in restoring 38 keys on my 20 year old Roland K-575 Digital Intelligent piano. As this is an older model, replacement keys are hard to come by which are no longer made by Roland. Alex had a sufficient but limited supply which through foresight, he purchased in quantities earlier from Roland. They completed the job in good time and the pricing was reasonable. I was impressed with Alex as he encouraged me to watch as they worked. Roland might sell you a digital piano, but if something goes wrong with it, don't count on the company for any troubleshooting or other assistance. All it does is tell you to take your keyboard to one of its authorized dealers. And that was how I met Alex Davis, the owner of 911 Keys and Sound in Las Vegas. Though I had to drive 200 miles to get to him, he made the trip worthwhile. He was not only interested in my predicament, but he was interesting to talk to and to meet. He answered the phone immediately when I first contacted him. After discussing the symptoms, he suggested that I alert him a few days in advance as to what day I would be able to bring in my non-functioning Roland FP-10 keyboard. That way he said he could be prepared to work on it immediately in the hopes of getting it repaired that day, so that I would not have to make a return trip. Within minutes of my arrival, he had diagnosed the problem---don't ever lay small things such as paper clips on any part of the keyboard as they may slip in between the keys and cause the electronics within to short out. Alex made his backyard and front porch available to me while my dog and I waited for the repair. I also got a tour of his never-ending vinyl record collection. Within three hours, after Alex had placed the keyboard back in my car, i was on my way home. If you need digital piano repairs, I cannot recommend 911 Keys and Sound highly enough. read more

Alex is awesome! Took my Korg N1 in so he could unstick some keys. He and his crew didn't just fix the problem - they identified the root cause of the problem (a dent that was barely visible but was exerting pressure on several keys, some I didn't even notice had a problem). They also cleaned everything thoroughly and pointed out a couple of other things I didn't know about the synth. All that and his price was completely reasonable and in the ballpark of what he estimated up front (hard to accurately estimate before you even know exactly what the problem is, but he knows his business!). Back in 2007, I entrusted Alex Davis and 911 Keys & Sound with a valuable Peavey DPM C8 weighted 88 key MIDI controller that only needed a battery change. After close to six months of phone calls with a different excuse from Alex every time, and increased hostility with each exchange, I gave up in disgust and went out and bought a replacement unit. I left him a voice mail saying so, and received no reply. FIVE YEARS later, and only when they'd noticed my first negative review of 911 Keys & Sound online, I got an email from an individual named Marcy with 911 Keys & Sound saying it's ready, come pick it up. Several hundred dollars for a battery replacement, and they graciously said they wouldn't charge me a "storage" fee. They also claimed they had been having trouble reaching me, even though I was still at the same address and with the same phone number as when I dropped the controller off with them. As much as I'd love to have that wonderful unit back, I honestly don't feel that returning to Mr. Davis's place of business would be safe for me. To say that his emails to me have been vitriolic would be an understatement. The most recent one from Mr. Davis arrived within the last week. At this point, the only action that can resolve this issue would be for anybody with 911 Keys & Sound other than Alex Davis to return the unit to my home at no charge. Until then, I'm going to continue posting this to every relevant online music forum I can find, for Las Vegas and nationwide. I have never been treated so badly by a business in my life. read more
