This is a chain that we are not familiar with in NJ. I was traveling a few months ago throughout Mass. and I was told to give give them a try, and there steak tips came highly recommended, so on this trip, three of our party of four gave them a try. They came out, cooked as ordered a were very tasty, seafood chowder that we tried was flavorful, but an appetizer of "stuffies" were mostly breading, with a strange taste, and the boneless wings were just chicken tenders that definitely did not hit the spot. I'd like to give the staff five stars. Sam the bartender and Dino the manager are the best. What limits them is the corporate menu. I ordered the seafood stuffies. This is supposed to be a seafood stuffed scallop shell. I found it to be about 80% stuffing and very little seafood. Granted it's only $11 for two, but still, this is New England! My "special" chicken fajita salad had chicken sliced so thin that a kernel of corn was wider than the chicken breast and it was so dry I couldn't eat it. Dino took it back and brought out a salad with arguably the same thickness breast, but it was fresher and not shoe leather. Dino said he substituted warm chicken for the cold chicken that I believe the salad is supposed to come with. That tells me that it is vacuum packed elsewhere and not cooked on-site. Charlie needs to take a look at this, please don't become just another Applebees. read more

I went on a Sunday and was told that appetizers were half price. Ordered 2 appetizers, a salad, and a drink. Got the bill and noticed the appetizers were charged full price. There was only one device for people paying with card that all the wait staff had to share. That made the process to settle our bill far longer than it ever should have. Horrible i went to take my girlfriend out for dinner and nothing was hot cast iron pans were cold dip cheese had to be cut, meat dishes were cold to lukewarm warm at best! Reported the problems to corporate and they issued a gift card to come back and a manager even called me! Went to use the gift card and still nothing was hot lukewarm warm, fris were wilted not hot! The inside of this Ninety-Nine is practically identical to the inside of the Ninety-Nine in Saratoga Springs, where my family dines often. I feel like I could walk from any spot in it to the men's room with my eyes closed. The only things that were somewhat different were the pictures on the wall (of local high school teams and buildings), and the TVs mounted in the corners, which were smaller. I guess they need larger TVs in Saratoga so that you can see all those horses racing on the racing channels. Another thing a bit different here was the wait staff. At least at lunch time, it felt like they were all seasoned professionals. Not that the staff in Saratoga is unprofessional, but it also felt like these ladies could serve everyone in the restaurant with their eyes closed too. They had just the right combination of friendliness, information, and professionalism. For our lunches here, I can't say anything exciting about my salad, but the fish and chips deserve mention, particularly the fish. The batter was unusually light but still very crisp. If they batter what they serve in this kitchen, they do it well. I generally look for a level of consistency when I visit a Ninety-Nine, especially when I visit one in New England. This one has no problem living up to - and exceeding - that expectation. read more

Convenient location at the turnabout on Route 2, good menu selections at fair prices, pleasant servers, and decent, consistent quality food qualify this chain restaurant for 4 stars. I ordered the Macadamia Crusted Chicken which comes with rice and asparagus with a mango sauce on the side. It was very tasty and I was pleased. The price was 9.99 which was definitely a fair price. My date ordered a burger and fries and was satisfied, as well, and I can testify that those fries I stole from his plate were quite good. read more

First our waitress server for those pc fiends was great. Kudos to the manager Stephen who was very attentive and very problem solving oriented. Our meals were very good. I had one of the first burgers since I left my native state that needed no condiments on a cheese burger that's goooood. I would like to address one of the other Yelpers complaining of hostility and racism. We found 99 to be a very friendly accommodating. Went it at 2:15 waited about an hour for our food while a larger & later table received both their hot apps and entrees before we got our food. We had little ones with us, so timing was a key factor, and by the time the food was out the meat was over cooked from the heat lamps. We ended up just leaving most of the food on the table. I think it was pretty to clear to staff that we were dissatisfied, but it went unacknowledged. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. I don't usually eat at chain restaurants, but I wanted to try it once. The sandwich was good, messy in a good way, and had a decent spicy kick to it. Our visit started off OK, but improved once we were seated. We rolled in around 9 or 9:30 on a Thursday night and it was fairly quiet. So we were a bit surprised when we had a 10 or so minute wait. I believe it was the manager who saw us standing around and then brought us to a table. Our server made the experience. Melissa was friendly, upbeat, great with suggestions and attentive. We were surprised to hear that she was new to the restaurant...the way she carried herself made it seem like she had been there for some time. I went with a turkey wrap which was really good. I was pleasantly surprised when dining here tonight. I am on a business trip and this restaurant is right outside our hotel. I had sworn off the 99 Restaurant chain about 10 years ago after having poor dining experiences. Today, my co-worker and I didn't feel like getting back on the road and we just walked across the street to the 99 I forgot about the popcorn! It's so salty, which I love. I was surprised to see an array of healthy options as well as vegetarian and gluten free options. I had the turkey kabobs which were served over pita with a yogurt sauce and a side of quinoa. It also had a side of sliced cucumbers and diced tomatoes, which helped lighten up the dish. I was actually surprised that I enjoyed it as much as a I did. We were casually driving through the area headed to a museum in north western Massachusetts when our GPS lead us to this destination. We seated ourselves at the end of the bar and we were first greeted by Suzy she took our drink and food order also brought over complimentary popcorn. My date ordered fish rice and broccoli I ordered steak baked potato and a house salad with oil and vinegar. After the food arrived my girlfriend commented the rice was a little bit crunchy. We came in after a zip line tour and got here at about 3:00 and were starved. Drinks came quickly and the little bowels of popcorn that were brought out with them disappeared in no time. The AC was set kind of high but we had sweatshirts with us. (Just FYI). Entrees were delicious and our order was correct (to address prior complaints). Overall we were quite happy with everything. (People at the next table were upset/surprised that there was no wi fi available which was not an issue for us but keep in mind if you are bringing an iPad to keep the kids occupied). read more
