Went directly to the single beverage coolers, didn't find what I was looking for so I walked into the fridge. Immediately someone walked in behind me asking if I need help. I said no thanks I found what I'm looking for. Browsed, didn't find exactly what I wanted so I left the cooler, came out to being watched and as I got to the exit buddy asked me to stop. I turned around, he asked what I was looking for, I said you don't have it have a good night. Again he tried to stop me! As if I wasn't allowed to leave. I wasn't in the store longer than 2 minutes and being watched AND followed the whole time?! To which I said, if you think I stole something you can call the police I'm leaving. Then while starting my car, I looked up to see them watching the cameras. That's fine check up because I didn't steal anything or even TOUCH anything on the shelves. It's still disgusting getting profiled when you're nothing but polite. When I went to the further liquor store I asked the lady there if I looked "sketchy" she said no actually first thing I noticed was you flipped your hood down looked over and smiled. its just a polite thing Ive always done. But god damn. What a disgusting way to run a business. I live Downtown Edmonton and never in my life have I been treated with such discrimination even if leaving empty handed. Eat shit.

I'm always disappointed when I come to this Sobeys liquor store. It has a lousy selection of…read moreAlberta and other craft beer in comparison to other locations. The store is also cramped and frequently it is a mess with palettes and plastic wrap left willy-nilly. There are some more unique beers in one corner just outside the cooler, but I swear every time I've been in the store, that section is cluttered up with half-sorted stock. The store feels like it's some lousy old joint in a small Alberta town instead of a newer one in a city, belonging to a major chain which prides itself on it's selection of craft beer. Clean up your act!

Even the Real Canadian Liquorstore, despite being my relatives' favourite place for its cheaper prices, only seems to carry the most popular stuff. This spacious Sobey's in this part of Edmonton that we visited is like the closest thing to a typical urban Ontario LCBO store. I found a greater variety of products, including Western Canadian craft beers, and wines. They even have a walk-in cold room. It's worth a stop if you're seeking something specific that's not a big name.
