Had a problems with a Cafe GE Refridge. Called Haier(old GE service) twice. no good. Crap service. Wasted $250 on Haier..... They Would not stand behind the failure to repair. Called McKinney. Spent about $350 change two parts. Did not fix the problem. Did not answer my calls. Called Brents Appliance Repair. He advised me to call A-1 he said they had the diagnostic equip to diagnosis the problem. A-1 sent a guy out he diagnosed the problem changed the part and was done and gone in 30 mins. $105 for the technician to come to the house to tell me that he doesn't understand why the dishwasher will drain sometimes yet not drain other times. His idea of fixing it was to take a piece of wire and tie the drain hose (which was dry) to prevent water from backflowing into the dishwasher. Then told us to monitor and log when the dishwash was dry or had water in the bottom. Totally unprofessional. Which the dishwasher still had standing water after washing a load of dishes. In the future, I will go buy a new appliance before using A-1 Appliance to repair anything. read more

The man who came and fixed my 25 year old dryer was excellent and it now runs like a top! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is he had to come back to fix the dryer because he was missing a part from his truck. They are a little pricey, but the work is good. read more

I cant give this dump less than one star and still get its posted. They "fixed" an undercounter ice maker. The connection failed and flooded the kitchen, den and living room. Did they come out to see why? No. Did they apologize? No. Offer to help with repairs? No. Rude, insensitive and incompetent. I do not recommend this company for any repair especially appliances. He shows up during the 2 hour window, as promised, and he calls ahead to let us know he's coming. He quickly and efficiently fixes the problem and they charge fair prices. I purchased a Speed Queen washer and dyer, and less than a year has gone by and we have had trouble out of both, so on a Monday I called and made and appointment, and they said 4 days later that they could come on Thursday. They called and texted and to confirm Wednesday afternoon. They the day of the appointment I get calls from them and did not answer immediately cause I was moving machines so they could get to it to service them. Well after I did not answer the call, then called them back immediately, to which they had then cancelled the appointment. I spoke with 3 different people who were rude and not helpful, then got to a manager, who then told me to find someone else to service it. After spending this much on a washer and dryer I would have expected top notch service, but only got poor quality people, who were less than willing to help. read more

They sell you lemons expecting you to make lemonade. I was referred to this company and it was and has been the worst recommendation I've taken. Learn from me to stay away from this place. We purchased to refrigerator that never worked and a dryer. They did replace the refrigerator for another refrigerator that didn't work and gave me back my original refrigerator that they said they fixed and it stopped working. They fixed the dryer and it broke again and they said the warranty was out and that's why we were charged.. unbelievable! This is crazy! read more

I called to schedule an appointment to have 2 appliances looked at. That afternoon I got a text that said appt was from 2-4 the next day and then another text that said 3-5! Day of appt I get a call at 10:55am saying he is on the way to my house. The problem, which I explained, was that I couldn't live in my house (it had flooded) and I was more than 30 mins away. Service guy wasn't nice. I called office and she explained a 4 hour service call was cancelled and he was running 4 hours early! I really don't know why their problem became my problem! Service Repair Review: We have Electrolux built-in refrigerator. We had two other repair companies assess a ice maker problem and could not fix it. That problem has been going on for months. The refrigerator side quit cooling last week and I called in another company and they could not trouble shoot the freon leak plus they did not want to pull out a built in unit. I called A1 and they heard my issues over the phone...and ordered the parts that they thought would needed to repair the issues before they came over. They sent two techs, pulled out the fridge, replaced the evaporator and heat exchange for the fridge and replaced the valve on ice maker...both now work like new. Mr. Jimmy J. was the main service tech and did great job. They cleaned under and behind the fridge and cleaned up after the job. Service, professionalism and quality was excellent. read more

I went to A1 on the advice of a friend. The first thing I noticed was the receptionist making derogatory remarks about a customer that she had placed on hold. So we looked at all their used washers, and asked the lady which one she recommended and she told is that she recommended the red front-loader HE. so we bought it for about $500 including delivery. The washer stopped spinning after 3.5 months and I called them to come fix it on my dime, as their warranty on used machines is virtually non-existent . They charged me $105 to drive 3 blocks just to spend all of 15 seconds actually looking at my washer. Then he told me that they can't fix it. Said it would cost over $1000 to fix and they wouldn't accept the job. These people are out here scamming folks during a time when money is super tight. I don't know what we'll do except go to the laundromat. i have no real recourse because as I stated above, their warranty is a joke. It more or less goes out as soon as they can't see your taillights anymore. So if you're thinking about spending any money here, just do yourself a favor and don't bother. They'll only take your money and leave you screwed like they did us. We Will NEVER go back. read more

I called this company to repair my dryer. The dryer worked even though it was making a bad noise. I could run it and dry my clothes. But I was concerned about the noise though. The repairman arrived and disassembled the dryer and replaced 4 "slides". He then tried to determine what was making the drum lope. He noted to me that the dryer would only run if he held the button. I asked why that was and he responded "I don't know". A few minutes later he told me he would have to replace the motor and it would be very costly. He removed the 4 "slides" he installed earlier. The bottom line here is the dryer worked before the repairman worked on it. The repairman lacked the knowledge to repair or diagnose the problem with the dryer. And I ended up having to purchase a new dryer. read more

I have used A-1 for years without complaint, but recently business has been bad. I've had to call them back out for work that was unprofessional. I recently tried to have work done but couldn't get past the nasty attitude of the receptionist. I don't know if management has changed or what. But rest assured. I will not be using their services anymore, and if you're wise, neither will you. read more

TERRIBLE customer service. I paid around $200 to have my stainless steel refrigerator repaired and in the process the technician made a ding in the front. He came back out to take pictures, and I was told someone would call me the next day to discuss replacing the door. When no one had called after 2.5 more business days I placed a call to the office. The woman who answered the phone was VERY rude. I am still waiting to speak with the person in charge/making decisions because she could not tell me when he would be available. People who handle customer service calls should be trained on how to handle customers, especially when they have had their belongings that cost thousands of dollars damaged in the process of repairing. read more

Can't recommend them. Sent by Kitchenaid to repair a dishwasher. Service man fumbles around and appears to be lost. Didn't even put all screws back in correctly. Then they charge for a service call AND for labor??? Definitely will find someone else who can repair Kitchenaid appliances in the future. read more

I recently bought a used washer and dryer from A-1 appliance and the spin cycle on the washer did not work the first time I ran a load. For a business that is dedicated to maintenance this is a real indictment. After showing up the first time the repair man did not have the necessary part to fix the machine. They had to come back a second time. A week later the machine developed the same problem. Again they came out to fix it but did not have the part. It has been a week and a half since the last technician has come by and they have not yet made it out to fix the machine. I asked if I could return the machines for a refund but was given a definite no. After having spent more than $500 on these machines I still do not have a fully functioning washer. I would not recommend using this company for anything. read more

Terrible customer service (or management). Our previously used HE machine broke last Thursday after we had it for a year, and we were told the repairs would be costly. My boyfriend bought a used one that Saturday from A-1 and they delivered it this past Monday. They assured him it had been inspected and was a good and fairly new, well taken care of machine, but four nights later (last night) it smoked up our entire apartment (we were washing three shirts and two pairs of pants---a very small load!). My boyfriend called the next day and asked them to come out, and we were told we would have to wait until Monday. He finally got them to come out after he had to be rude with them (and he became even more rude and profane after the following events unfolded). The repairman said the belt and bearings were bad and the machine as a whole was no longer good and cannot be repaired AFTER FOUR DAYS OF IT BEING AT OUR APARTMENT. We used it a total of three cycles. We were aware of the 30-day warranty and the no refund policy, but considering they sold us a faulty machine (that clearly wasn't as thoroughly inspected as we were told), we feel like we deserve a refund as we do not trust any machine they give to us at this point. They refused to refund us and we are now reluctantly allowing them to bring us another used machine, which we plan to thoroughly inspect ourselves as it would be naïve of us not to. We had high hopes for them because they came highly recommended by family members, friends, and co-workers, but we have been severely disappointed. Our family and friends that we've talked to about our situation today have agreed they will no longer do business with this company. It really is a shame. As a young couple starting out, this left a bad taste in our mouths for trusting local businesses. We really could've used that money towards a new machine, like we should've done in the first place. Lesson learned! Do not trust A-1! You're almost better off on Craigslist, where you're at least expecting to get swindled going into it and not surprised if you are. Here's hoping this new machine they've brought works out! (The repairman and delivery guy were both very nice and honest people. They are not at fault.) read more

We have had the worst experience with them. We are still under warranty for our washer. At first they said it was the motor, so we had to wait a full week for them to order the motor. Then, they came and installed the motor. I could overhear the technician calling his boss because he had no idea what the hell was going on with the washer. Needless to say, it wasn't fixed that day. Then, we didn't hear from them for a week. So, I called and now they're ordering yet another part. Again, I just don't think they know what they're doing. I'd never refer them to anyone and in the future I will be requesting that the manufacturer use a different repair servicer. read more

I purchased a used washer/dryer set from A1 on Sept 3. I was told it had been carefully inspected and was in good working order. On October 21, the washer was not working, and on October 23, when the tech came out, I was told that the transmission in the washer was shot, and the machine was not worth repairing. Then I was charged $95 for a ten-minute service call. When I called A1 to tell them I was not happy, they acted like they could care less. Keeping customers happy and repeat business are obviously not important to them. I will not be doing any more business with A1, and would advise others to steer clear of them as well. read more
