I used A-1 Hauling & Rolloff for a house cleanout during a residential move. Rented a 15 yd container for 1 week. It wasn't picked up on the scheduled day because weather issues had them backed up. My son-in-law had his pod scheduled to be dropped off the next morning where the dumpster was located. I called in the evening around 7:30pm and was pleasantly surprised they still had someone who answered the phone that late. I explained the situation but she wasn't sure when they could pick it up due to the back-ups. She said she would leave a note explaining the situation. The next morning there was a driver at the house at 7:30am to pick it up. I was very appreciative they took care of me in this situation. Would definitely use and recommend them again. read more

I called several times before ordering a dumpster as I had numerous questions trying to figure out what size dumpster I needed. The person who answered the phone each and every time was very helpful and patient while answering all of my questions. Once I set the dumpster delivery up, it was delivered in a timely fashion. The driver was very personable and he explained how to open the dumpster, reiterating what could be placed inside, and explaining why he put wood planks under the wheels of the dumpster to keep my driveway safe. I called a few days prior to my pick-up date to extend my rental for a week, and then a second week. It was simple and easy. I just had one of the most negative customer service experiences I have ever had. I am rehabbing properties in Baltimore. I needed an additional dumpster for one property, after getting two from two other companies. The two companies I used were closed when I wanted to schedule this third dumpster. Of those two dumpster, one had been filled and one had been picked up already. I did an Internet search and called A1 Hauling & Roll Off to get a third dumpster. They picked up quickly and I explained that I needed a 30 yard dumpster. I started explaining where I wanted the dumpster and the woman I spoke to told me that it would be impossible to have the dumpster delivered where I wanted. This isn't true because one of the other companies had a dumpster in that very place. I politely informed her that it would fit and that another dumpster had just been removed from that spot. She asked me why I didn't call the company I used to get another dumpster! I was taken aback! What business is going to tell you to call another business like that? I took a deep breath and explained to her that the dumpster had become full and had been picked up, but the main office of the other company was not open for me to schedule another dumpster. Before I could even finish the rest, she rudely interrupted me and told me that she has been in the business for 25 years and Baltimore has rules and I wouldn't be able to get a permit. She even went on to tell me that if a company gave me some low-ball figure to put a dumpster where I needed it, they were likely low-ball people. I couldn't believe this! She made so many assumptions without listening! I already HAVE the proper permits! I started explaining to her again that price wasn't the issue - the issue was timing since the other companies were closed. I needed the additional dumpster because the other two were full and since I will be rehabbing multiple properties, I like to try out as many dumpster companies as I can so I can see who is the quickest, whose service is the best, etc. I also explained that I knew the Baltimore City process because I already had the proper permit. When I told her that I needed the dumpster for the same day, she interrupted me yet again and gruffly said, "Well I don't have anything today anyway." All I could say was thank you and have a nice day. This woman was so incredibly sassy, dismissive and unpleasant! I will never understand why a company uses impolite people to answer phones or to greet visitors who come to their establishments! That person provides the first impression for your business. They set the tone. If they are polite, the interaction will be great. If they aren't, the impression, as in this case, will be horrible. I don't know if the company itself provides prompt deliveries and pick ups and good dumpsters. However, with a customer service person who, as she puts it, has been in the business for 25 years, acting so rude to customers, all I can say is that their customer service is very, very, very poor. This woman was absolutely unprofessional in her interactions with me. I will take my business to another company. By the way, I dialed 410-893-5171 to reach this woman. I'm not sure if there are multiple locations. If there are, try the other locations first. read more

The owner of this company is nasty, when I called to complain about what I believed to be one of her trucks that actually ran me off the road, she was nasty to me and said she did not know what I was talking about and actually called me stupid and hung up on me. I know I would never ever use a company like this with someone who is both unhelpful and aggressive. read more
