Very inconsistent drivers ranging from very good to very bad (as in, drift into the oncoming traffic lane bad; seriously sleep-deprived bad; have to yell at the driver to wake up and focus bad). We've used them a lot because they have an arrangement with our employer, but we now book cars ourselves and submit for reimbursement. In the last year, I'd say that roughly 25% of our A-1 drivers were problematic. read more

Have used their service for years. Most recent use no driver waiting upon arrival in newark. No text notification. After calling A1 800 number and being on hold told there is a driver there. 30 minutes in at this point. Turns out A1 outsourced this to a 3rd party gave him the wrong contact info and he was waiting at the wrong location. Have attempted to contact A1 on 3 seperate occasions and have yet to get a call back. Will never use them again or recommend. I dont mind paying more for good service but not for subpar service. read more

The worst car service I have ever used. Having been ill and released from the hospital I called A1 to bring me home. I had taken my wallet out and left it on the seat next to me as I drifted off to sleep. I inadvertently left it behind and when I called the next morning no one could provide me with information as to where it was. This was after I had paid $225 for a one way fare! The contents of my wallet (minus my money and the wallet itself) mysteriously arrived in the mail 5 days later. A1 is untrustworthy and unprofessional. read more

We have been using A 1 limo for 20 years or so...last week took the red eye from Phoenix and when we landed in Philadelphia the driver was no where in sight.... Called the princeton # 5 times....they connected me to dispatch and the lady gave me different excuses each time I called DRIVER IS WAITING NEAR ESCALATOR DRIVER IS COMING DOWN ELEVATOR DRIVER IS WALKING TOWARDS BAGGAGE The 5th time I called the princeton office informed me driver cannot leave limo because if he shuts it off he might not be able to restart it!!! The heat in limo wasn't working. When we got home I tried to lodge a complaint and no one was interested in listening...there apparently is no manager around and the supervisor at dispatch never returned my call... read more

We won't be giving this company any glowing remarks. Terrible. The evening of our social event, the hired car was a NO_SHOW for over an hour. Despite calls to dispatch to ask for assistance, all we got was runaround responses, and no explanations. Followup to A-1 days later has been fruitless. The so-called managers are " not in, or not available" when you call, and have yet to return messages or call back. Very poor customer service. Horrible experience. Recommend you seek an alternative if you are looking for professional drivers and genuine customer care when hiring a company for your transportation needs. I recently used A-1 for a pick up from Newark Airport. The driver met us promptly and asked if we had checked luggage. We were carrying duffel bags and an infant. We replied, "no checked luggage." He told us to follow him to the car which was parked outside, about an eight minute walk. The driver walked ahead of us with his hands in his pockets while my daughter, six months pregnant, carried her one year old child and a heavy duffel bag, and I carried three bags. He never asked if he could help us. When I made the reservation, I requested a rear facing car seat for the baby. I confirmed the day before pick up as well. When we got to the car, the car seat was turned the wrong way, and we stood outside while he struggled to turn it around, my daughter finally had to help him. There we all stood,with a baby in 20 degree weather for 20 minutes while all of this was occurring. Needless to say, it was a nightmare trip and I would not recommend using A-1 after this experience. I called the office to let them know as I am a long time customer and was told twice I should expect a callback from management. It never happened. This is poor service and poor follow-up. Took from Newark airport to Princeton after arriving on a redeye flight from West Coast. Cost about $100, charged to credit card that I provided in advance. Much nicer than having to negotiate AirLink and train with luggage when I hadn't slept the night before. Driver met me in baggage claim, took my bag for me, was very friendly but quiet and let me sleep in car. Trip took less than an hour at that time of day. I recommend them! read more

Very nice service. If I could ask one thing, it would be to get a more timely receipt. As I use the car service for business, I need a prompt receipt for expense filing. I often have to wait several days for something that I think could be delivered to me at the point of service or by email within 24 hours. This is a small thing, easy to deliver, that in the meantime is a bit of a nuisance for me. It's also strange that some cars know my address and others don't. Not a big deal but seems unnecessary to have to rely on the passenger to give directions with some drivers. My address should be "in the system" by now. read more

I would highly recommend A-1 Limousine. I have used them for business trips for airport drop offs/pick ups along with for my own wedding. I set up a limo for the bridal party and multiple cars for family members. I had to switch the cars around, (amount of cars and sizes of the vehicles), and A-1 always worked with me and never gave me a problem. read more

They were 45 minutes late picking me up at Newark airport, and we had booked and pre-paid for the limo a week before. The driver told me the dispatcher had alerted him 5 minutes before the ride. No water in the car. For $125 for a 45 ride, this is inexcusable. Should have taken an Uber. read more

Above and beyond customer service. Expedient, professional and friendly. From the time you call until you are dropped off at your primary or final destination, A-1 Limousine are the best in the business. Your reservation is in you inbox before you hang up the phone, you receive a text from the operations center letting you know that your car has been dispatched and they even tell you your drivers name. If you are being picked up at the airport, you can always depend on your driver to be waiting with name sign in hand, and on several occasions, when I got to baggage claim, my driver was waiting with my bag.... I had the absolute PLEASURE of being driven from NYC to Princeton tonight by a driver named Sam (I will get his last name tomorrow as I lost the text, when I call in to give a verbal commendation as well). Not only did he make me feel safe in the car during the rush hour drive he was such a pleasure to speak with the whole ride. Majority of the time I get car service I am quiet and my face is likely buried in my cell phone answering emails etc. . Sam was so interesting and articulate I could not help but engage the entire trip. Myself and my company have been using A1 for many many years and he was by far the most interesting and enjoyable driver I have ever had. Easy to book, and generally good call center team but dispatch and customer service is terrible. I don't make snap decisions but tonight is the third strike. In the last 6 months they have been late for my wife twice, failed to pick me up at home once and tinight have left me standing at Newark airport. Can't be raised in the phone, probably a technical problem but for all I know they have gone away. Even if there is a tech problem, it wasn't so bad that they couldn't take thrones from my Amex card. Not sure who I am going to use, but it will not be these guys again, never get an apology for a mistake, never get any credit for loyalty. Time to move on. read more

Have had two trips and they have been excellent. Very good drivers and on time and accommodating service. Have more scheduled. I like the fact I can e mail and confirm to them and they respond. Makes me feel comforted that they respond so well on the e mail. read more

I have used these a number of times over the years and over the last 4 years have usually booked 4-5 16 seater limos which cost around £2500 each year and then last year 3 out of the 5 broke down during the evening and a driver was smoking pot ... I didnt even get an apology ... but I thought I'd give them another go for this year n booked 5 large limos for my international ball which again cost nearly £2500 and when they turned up was told 1 had broken down already, so they sent a mini bus ... when I contacted them about people in the bus not being happy and I'd like to speak to someone about getting refunded some of the money ... the owners refused to speak with me or come up with a solution to the issues raised ... their customer service is shocking when issues arrive ... they only had to show concern and meet me half way and this could have been resolved and they'd have kept a good customer ... that wont happen now ..... read more

Don't even think about using A1. Within the last nine months we've been screwed twice by this company. They used to be reliable but since (I think it's the son of the original owner) they changed management and they are running this company into the ground. First after calling and telling them that my flight was cancelled they charged me anyway for the limo. Something about I didn't give them enough notice about the cancellation. I called immediately when the flight was cancelled. Isn't it their job to monitor the flights as well? I thought that I would give them a second chance with my most recent reservation. This time after flying 7 1/2 hours from Europe, we were left stranded at JFK. No driver anywhere to be found and then was kept on hold for over 15 minutes while they were trying to fin out what happened. Just horrible, horrible service. Buyer beware...there are plenty more reliable limo services around. Do your research but never use A1! read more

I've used their services for years, and have been pretty reliable. One of my friends had a driver leave her stranded at JFK, but I've never personally experienced that. Most of the cars are okay, though some aren't the cleanest (still way better than a clean taxi!). If you use them, be very very VERY clear on wanting the total cost upfront. The rep I spoke to when booking my last trip didn't mention the price at all, so I naively assumed it hadn't changed since my previous trips; it was definitely my fault for not asking, but they really should say something. Not only had the rates gone up, but once they added in fees, mandatory gratuity ($30 each way), tolls, gas, etc, it was a lot more than the already high price--it ended up being $450 roundtrip for Philly airport, which could have bought me another plane ticket! If they're going to tack on additional charges, they should just roll that into the rate and let customers know how much it is upfront. I called to give feedback, but they weren't interested. read more

I was hoping to at least get a phone call back from A1 regarding my horrific experience so I did not have to go public with my negative review, but obviously I was not important enough to warrant such call, so here I go... Pick up was on time (actually 5 minutes early), 4:10 am. Driver was putting car seat for my 4 year old son in the backseat and said he'd be done in a few minutes. I said great, I'll go wake him up and get my bags. 15 minutes later he is still trying to get the seat in. We needed to leave by 4:30 LATEST to insure i'd be able to get through security and have 15-20 minutes at the gate to deal with my child (food/bathroom) at 4:30, seat is not in, i even tried but was unfamiliar with the latch system on the seat AND in the car. So I was forced to HOLD DOWN MY CHILD IN HIS CAR SEAT the entire 45 minute ride to Newark airport. It was an awful thing for any parent to do but the seat was not secure. When I arrived at the airport the driver was very apologetic and immediately gave me the card and number of his boss. When I returned home I called and spoke to the nastiest woman (how she is in customer services is truly a mystery) and she never once apologized she immediately said 'WELL, IT'S THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSTALL THE CARSEAT' This was never told to us and how would I know how to put a strange car set in a strange car? After several phone calls with this person including one where she told me 'YOU KNOW, THIS CALL IS BEING RECORDED!' (I said great! maybe your boss will hear how you speak to customers) I finally got in touch with the VP Jeff. I left 7 messages in 2 weeks with no return call. FINALLY I called and he answered and said he had been ill with strep throat etc. He was VERY kind to me on the phone and said he would review the call and my issues and promised he'd call back. It's a good thing I didn't hold my breath because it's now 3 months later and, well, you guessed it...never heard back. A1 is NOT the only game in town and I'd rather spend 2x what I spent for that disastrous and potentially dangerous car ride to the airport, then to use A1 again. read more

I have to say this is the worst company. Poor communication and customer service. You can only speak to one person Michelle and when you ask for someone else they tell you there is no one else and wont give you the number for the corporate people. Was charged for a no show when they were lazy in trying to locate the person. My elderly family member was never picked up and had to take a cab home. Not even an apology. I become very angree person when I just hear this company name. Unbelievably unprofessional people! They charge always more than estimate bills. My requests always simple - wait us with sign at airports and russian speaking driver is a must when meet my parents. First time was OK,but 3 other very big disapontments! Ones I've tried to find my driver at Phillis airport for 1 hour with infant on my hands while he got his coffee and newspaper. And they charged me this extra hour! They got extra 34 bucks, which I asked them return to my card and they didn't, but they lost me, my company and my friends as a clients. Also, how do you think, did I have Russian speaking driver? Of course no :) when I asked why they said me that they don't guaranty special requests. Really? Why I should pay than? They lost thousands from me. Just wondering, do Mr.Jeffrey Starr and Mr Michael Starr really gave instructions to they representatives being so unhelpful with customers. Waited 20 mins outsdie today in the cold after an intl flight. I've been using them for 10+years and past two years have been the worst. I use them pretty much weekly so you'd think they'd care about my business. Dispatchers are terrible even drivers complain when they pick you up and your upset for having to wait. Recently less than 50% of my pick ups at EWR haven been with a driver waiting. They have lost touch with customer service. They are done as far as I'm concerned. My husband's elderly parents used A-1 every time they traveled, which was a couple times every year. The drivers and the people who handled them over the phone were always great with them. When we moved to PA, we were disappointed with another PA based company we used, so tried A-1 and won't ever switch. They have been great with us! We appreciate the excellent service. One trip we took required a 3am pick up and the driver was 10 min early, quietly waiting. Wow! We were impressed! Thank you A-1 for the best service! read more

I've been using A1 for 20 years. Over 200 trips and they have always been on time or early for picking me up at home. After flights have been canceled on me they were able to get a car to pick me up with very little notice. I've tried many companies and this is the best one. The cars are clean and the drivers are excellent. read more

Used A1 for years multiple times a month for airport trips. Wow, have they gone downhill. I finally stopped about a year ago since I couldn't take their late drivers, crappy customer service, and unwillingness to even discuss an issue. I tried again this week in the hopes things had changed. Nope. I've literally NEVER had a driver beat me out of the terminal for an international trip. I sit in business class, have Global Entry, and don't check bags - and I've told them repeatedly that I'll be fast from landing to terminal. I even called this time when I landed to give them a heads-up. Sure enough...and I would have bet money...no driver. The kicker was that when I called, the dispatcher told me "I should consider myself lucky because they were backed up and other people were stuck at the airport". I think that pretty much says it all. You only have one job. Be at the airport when I get there. Period. read more
