Really disappointed. I was a previous customer for 6 years, then left when I moved. Came back and got a new unit for myself and my mom barely 2 months ago, and they are already raising the rent on us for both of our units by $100 a month! This feels very bait-and-switchy. When I called the manager to talk about it, she just kept repeating that they were month-to-month, as if that excused it, and that an increase in month 3 and month 8 were normal. That would have been really nice to know before we signed up, especially considering the first time I rented here my rent only increased twice IN SIX YEARS. This has never been their standard business practice until now, and I'm really disgusted to see them pulling this BS on their customers this time around, especially with the economy being so bad and people are barely scraping by. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the male employee who works here is always very kind and helpful, and I genuinely DID love this business as it was run very well in the past and its always been very clean and safe, but they took advantage of me this time around and I just really do not appreciate it, especially having previously been a happy, long-time client with only positive experiences before this. Its insulting and takes advantage of both me and my mom during a vulnerable moment in our lives. Once again, another business corrupted by prioritizing profit margins over people. A very clean and newer facility that provides excellent service and security. It is located right outside a plaza that includes Target and has convenient parking as well as a fair sized loading/unloading area, though if it is a busy day, it can be a bit challenging. The employees here are friendly and happy to assist, though from a price perspective, this location/company is a bit expensive. They use "dynamic" pricing and if you're lucky, the price will only go up every 3 months since they aim to maximize profit. Even long time steady customers still get gauged for increases under the excuse of market pricing going up. While I like the facility, just don't appreciate how they do business and would rather turn over customers/units than keep good clients long term. read more

I'm new to self storage so maybe this is a me problem and common practice but it caught me off guard. I signed a month to month contract at an agreed upon rate with them, received my move in special the first 2 months, and now they are raising my rate in the 4th month. Maybe on me for not asking when they would raise my rate. I assumed it would be annual. There should have been some transparancy on their part to let me know they could immiediately raise it. So the deal I got and agreed to really didn't matter much unfortunately and this is why I give 3 stars. The facility itself is very nice and clean, so no issues there. Just annoyed they got me in, and then almost immiediately bumped my rate up. read more

District manager reached out to me and heard my concerns. She explained what possibly happened and offered a solution to remedy the problem. I know she probably has many things to do in her day so I appreciate that she took the time out to contact me and figure this out. Multiple rent increases. I had a rent increase in March of this year of $10 (2025) and now I'm being hit with another one for $30 after moving to a larger unit. That's on top of the rate change. The employee said it was because all units get hit with an increase after the first three months. The first increase came 6 months after I moved in and the second came exactly a year from the first increase. I want to stress the fact that I don't blame the staff at the location since this has to be at the hand of corporate but this will make 3 rent increases since I initially moved in of August of 2023 with two happening in the same year and while I can understand there could be an annual rate increase it doesn't bode well when they are repeatedly trying to increase your rent every chance they get. read more

A-1 brought me peace at a time where I had nowhere to turn to... that sounds dramatic but honestly they were peace of mind. From my initial call to actually renting the unit all the way to the end, I had an amazing experience, my belongings felt secure, I had easy access to getting to my things, the facility still looks brand new, clean, etc. after I think 10 or so years. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and I felt safe having to access my unit alone. Highly recommend if you're in search of a safe and clean storage space. I've been renting for over 5 years now. Last week was the first time in over a year that I visited my storage unit to find a lot of mouse droppings and some of my items chewed up. I reported it and went back on Friday 8/7 to meet up with Kevin to take pictures/videos and confirmed infestation. It's been almost a week now and nothing is being done nor has our messages been followed up since then. My unit is on the 3rd floor, no food, and most items are wrapped up in plastic, even furnitures. So I've also advised them to notify my neighboring units as most likely the rats/mouse may have infested or come in from other units. Very disappointed with the effort or should I say the lack of, to rectify the situation. read more

Been renting a storage unit here for a couple of months. The building is super secure and clean. Every renter has their own dedicated code for the building and will only allow you access to the floor your unit is on. They provide carts that are convenient when taking things in and out of the unit. I feel confident that my belongings are safe and secure here. read more

We rented storage space here for three years and became more and more uneasy over that period. After we had rented for two years, one morning we left two boxes outside the dumpster, which is locked. I received a bizarre threatening phone call telling me that they had looked at the video and determined it was us and they would toss out stuff out of our locker if we did it again. That was the beginning of the end. We would go in early to sort through our locker and run into iffy characters every time, such as homeless people hanging out in the bathrooms for long periods of time, locker doors smashed in, and puzzling scenarios that left us thinking for sure people lived in some of the lockers. This was my first time renting a storage unit. As a college student, I noticed that sometimes the quality of customer service from particular businesses will be compromised because of my age and the perceived attitude that may come attached to it (19 year olds = rude to anyone). However, my customer experience with A-1 Self Storage changed my perception in regards to that. They were very friendly and helpful when it came to any questions I had regarding payments or my contract and took the time to really insure my experience was better than I ever expected. Initially, I wasn't really looking to rent from this particular place-- I had just stopped in to buy boxes to move-out with from my nearby university. But once again, it was the customer service that really set them apart from the other storage places I was considering renting from. I also really appreciated how clean the grounds were from the elevators to the bathrooms, it was always very orderly and to me, that speaks a great amount of how the business is ran. The business hours suited me perfectly especially the early opening times and late closing time of 10pm. I was traveling out of town 5 hours away transitioning from moving my personal items from my previous house to my storage unit and I would always makes stops right when I got into LA at A-1 Storage-- I never had any problems on the grounds, going in and out as a single female in the early morning hours or late at night stopping by before going back to my city located 5 hours away. This including when I made restroom breaks in the middle of loading my items in my storage unit, it still felt safe and secure. The grounds are extremely secure and there are cameras everywhere. I highly recommend for all nearby university students that are attending an LA university but live out of town and would rather not move all their belongings back home from the summer to consider renting a storage unit especially from here. The rent was no more than a nice gym membership per month and they really accommodate when I moved out after 3 months financially wise (from June to September 1st) and allowed me to not be charged for the rest of September despite moving out the first week-ish. All of these aspects of A-1 Self-Storage really contributed to my overall experience and expectations established for any of my future storage needs which is why I'm giving this place a 5 star rating. :-) read more
