I gave him a check for half of the job and was told he had been busy with the boats. Well my money spends the same as the boat peoples' money does- just not as much. After calling him every week since July and he told me when I finally got to talk to him it would probably be late September as they were behind. My agreement with him was my siding people would take down the frame- he would send his people to get the frame and put in new canvas. Well that took TWO months and then me calling every week to get them to show up today! Then the young man who installed the awning asked me if I was giving him a check! SERIOUSLY??? I will send a check when I get around to it- but I am not as far behind as Ernie is so I won't make him wait three months!! IF i ever need another awning it will NOT be from Ernie's- there are plenty of businesses in Virginia that are glad for the business. People want you to buy and shop local- well then act like you run a business not like it is a part-time hobby that you do when you get around to it. Sad- he does a good job and the awning looks very nice, but I hate the way we were treated and the delay. And no one from there even calls or follows-up- even when they came to pick ip the frame- they only asked where it was and no one said anything else at all. Just shoved it in the truck and drove off.

A neighbor requested to see it as she needs one. Upon opening the awning, it was fine, but it would not close completely into the trough. I called on March 24, 2026, and spoke with Elizabeth, who was very helpful and explained that they were extremely busy and short-handed. It would take two to three weeks to schedule a service call. Adding that she would contact me with the available dates within a week. I acknowledged that the $175.00 fee was okay. Since I did not hear from her by then, I called on April 6, 2026, and spoke with Pilar. She said she would call or text me when a service call is available. I am very concerned and worried that the squirrels could chew this awning. It happened with my old one. I decided a closed trough was the best solution. I am anxiously awaiting a service call.
