He told me several times he would be coming to do the work then stopped returning my calls. 7/29/25 Filed Police Report -Theft by Deception. Sued Billy Lyons/A&B Marine Construction in Ocean Special Civil. They failed to appear. AWARDED DEFAULT JUDGEMENT against Billy Lyons/A&B Marine Construction. As all of the other reviews said this place is a sorry excuse of a business. I have an older bass boat that most marine repair shops won't touch due to its age and it having an older 2 stroke motor. I heard about Steve at A and B marine through the grape vine and decided to give him a try. Let me start off by saying I should have known better when I originally dropped my boat off. The facility itself is overgrown and looks abandoned. He invited me into his office to write up a repair order and there was so much trash and unopened mail on the floor you can't even tell what color the flooring is. Not to mention it smelled foul inside the office. Anyways he claimed to specialize in Johnson and evinrude out boards so I thought I had my guy. He had my boat for 3 weeks and called me and quoted me a fuel pump that was more expensive than the boat itself so I opted to pick the boat up and source my Own fuel pump. I paid him for his diagnosis which was over $300. After installing the new fuel pump the boat was still having the same issue so I attempted to get in contact with Steve and was unsuccessful due to the phones being shut off at the shop. So I had to drive by there multiple times throughout the span of a couple days to catch the gate open so I could attempt to contact him. I explained that the boat was still having the same issue and he told me I was welcome drop it off again so that he could dig further into it so I brought the boat back to him the following Saturday. After 2 weeks of him blowing me off and not answering my phone calls I was finally able to Get ahold of him and he told me that the boat had the wrong spark plugs in it and the idle needed adjusted it never quoted me a price to make the repairs. 2 days later he called me and told me that he installed the spark Plugs and adjusted the idle and that my boat was ready for pickup. I asked him if it was fixed and his response was "well it still died on us a few times and still having problems at high speed but we've made all the adjustments we can make so it's going to be $352 whenever you are ready to pick up. I show up to pick up my boat and attempted to get him to work with me on price since I was getting the boat back in the same condition and he refused to work with me what so ever. I have spent over $700 with Steve at A and B marine and still have a boat with the same issues that it had before I ever brought it there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They do not have any set hours of operation, have horrible communication skills, and clearly are not qualified to be making repairs on boats. read more

This is a sorry excuse for a business. My husband and I inherited a pontoon boat that had been stored here for a few years. We went to this storage lot, which literally looks like an abandoned boat graveyard, to find said boat completely obscured by overgrown brush and weeds. We physically couldn't have gotten back to look at it without at LEAST a weedwhacker. It is absurd that our family member was paying money for how this boat was being stored. We ended up waiting for the winter months for all the weeds to die so we could at least get to the area of the lot to see the boat and pull it out. It was extremely obvious that multiple critters had gotten into the boat and chewed up all the seats. The owner is extremely rude and disorganized. I would not take a boat here for any kind of service or storage. read more

very poor excuse for a business. he had our boat for 3 months never fixed it and never order the parts . we found the parts on line and had them in 3 days and got someone else to fix it. Also the raccoons got inside of our boat while he had it and tore up the carpet. he never offered to cover the damage . would not recommend this business read more

Total ripoff. Charged me $1,000 to do nothing but look at it & put it back together wrong, After saying engine had to come apart & have it all winter[only had 90 hours on it] So I went & got it they had it 2 months Took somewhere else & $600 oil pump it was fixed. This is my first review don't usually do them but this was such a nightmare I had to give one I can't see how he stays in business. BEWARE!!!! read more

Took my 2006 Ranger there for an issue with the motor. Three weeks later I called just to check on it and the phone was busy. This went on for three days so I drove out to see for myself. He said the phones were out in the area (Lie) I asked about my boat he said he ran a diagnostic on it. I asked what I owed and he said $164 including shop supplies. He could not provide me with the diagnostic print out, the place is a total mess. Its disgusting in the office and in total disarray. He was pissed that I made reference to how much of a mess it is and he started yelling profanities at me. I let him know he was barking up the wrong tree got my boat and left. I wouldn't let this guy work on a pinball machine. Totally unprofessional, unorganized, and has some serious issues going on. Beware!! read more

So I took my boarine last fall and had a complete winterization done. The only problem was when I got my boat out of storage none of the things that he told me were included in the winterization were done and my reservoir for my gear lube was completely empty and gear lube was very low. Did not change the oil or filter like he said he would do and my full tank of gas was 1/4 of a tank. When I called to speak with him about it he told me that the winterization did not include any of these things that I specifically told him I want done and was not willing to work with me at all for the work that he did not complete he gets zero stars for me and I will never take my boat there again and I recommend others never take Thursday there read more

I recently purchaesd an older (1984) Bass boat with a 1980 80hp Mercury outboard on it and the motor would barely run, would not idle, and bogged down upon trying to throttle up. I called ALL the bigger Mercury dealers in the Indianapolis area and NONE of them will work on an outboard older than 2000. I was told by many of them it could be anything from a blown head gasket, to needing the carbs rebuilt. Well I found Steve at A&B Marine in Whiteland, IN. He told me bring it in and they would take a look at it for me. Upon asking what he thought and how much it would be to fix it, he told me exactly what he would start with and go from there. He did say, worst case would be rebuilding the carbs (still way less than the "Big Guys". I took the boat in on a Wednesday late afternoon, and Steve said he had a few boats in front of me, but he would get it as soon as he could. SATURDAY morning I got a call from Steve, saying my boat was done, and it was nothing serious, just some adjustments, etc. AND it was LESS THAN he originally quoted me. A&B MARINE was quick, professional and HONEST and got it done at a very reasonable price... I will definately use them in the future for ALL of my marine needs..... read more

This place is horrible. Very poor service and no business sense. They had my boat for over a month and charged me double the agreed upon price. Also wanted to charge me extra to test the work they had done to see if the boat would even run. Very upset with this place. Highly NOT recommended. read more
