Summary: Rude, Dishonest, Inaccurate…read more Facts: Went in to have 2022 taxes done. Was told I'd receive a state refund check for xxxx dollars. When I went back to sign, the state refund was going to be xxxx -2500. When I told her the numbers were very different from what she had originally stated, she told me twice that my taxes were very simple because I only had one W2. I asked if she could review my taxes to make sure. A week later she stated she had reviewed the taxes and they were correct. She said she has been doing this a long time and is very accurate. I took my taxes to another professional to have them reviewed and they quickly found the error, which was causing me the 2500 loss. I had to pay to have my taxes amended by the 2nd place in order to receive my proper refund. Additionally, CPT had put my wife residing in a different state than what was correct and had also left out my direct deposit information, causing our refund to be delayed. Summary: If CPT had truly reviewed my taxes and missed the error, they are incompetent. If they didn't review them after I said they needed reviewed, then they blatantly lied in saying they had. Either way, not professional and not a place I'd ever recommend to anyone. Save your money and please go somewhere else. I sent emails to CPT showing the errors and requesting a refund since I had to pay another professional to have them done correctly. No response.

CPT Desert Tax &…read moreAccounting was recommended to me a few times and this year I finally brought my 2017 business's taxes to Colette. She was able to find items that my previous accountant had been missing for years. Colette exceeded my expectations with reliability, communication, timeliness - and the most important part - she was detailed in my returns which helped my business's growth. I definitely recommend CPT Desert Tax & Accounting for taxes, accounting and payroll services.

I'm disappointed yelp won't let leave anything less than 1 star. If you enjoy no communication,…read more"professionals" filing your taxes late, and purely incompetent service that you have to pay for then this is the place for you! After giving Alan every bit of information and then some back on March 1st, I proceeded to send multiple emails throughout the month with no response. He finally responded (April 6th) saying "sorry, I'll get to this and get it filed ASAP." I'm not sure if he actually knows what asap stands for. At the end of the week I called to check in, just to be told they still needed my SSN, birthday, and other information. I called back April 13th and was told they would file an extension. It's now April 21st and I've heard nothing. Are my taxes filed? Do they still need more information? Who knows.... Please don't walk, run from this place. I would have been better off letting an AI chatbot file my taxes.

Red Rock from Arizona came to Western Slope and ruined a perfectly good small business…read more We had been working with a local CPA since moving to Colorado's Western Slope, 6 years ago. Our personal CPA left the company and the owner was taking steps toward retirement, so he handed off services to Red Rock - with his client's authorization of course. Not many CPAs in the area are taking new clients, especially so close to tax season, so we didn't have other options. We also trusted the retiring owner was making a decision which served in the best interests of his clients. Unfortunately, we now need to spend the next few months searching for a new CPA. In all my decades working with CPAs, I've never received such poor service: unprofessional, poor communication, numerous mistakes/things missed, cutting close to deadline, billed higher than ever & asking to receive payment before we file. We wouldn't be filing on time today if we hadn't stopped by the office last week (when we were originally supposed to be out of town), getting the owner of the previous company involved. We dropped off our tax package 7-8 weeks ago. Nothing about our return is complicated, so we expected a quick turnaround, given they had plenty of lead time. We sent numerous emails inquiring about the status of our return, then finally made phone calls when we didn't hear anything. Their initial correspondence says they are here to support us during the transition and to reach out by email any time with questions. We finally heard they received the package and it was in process. Weeks later, after no communication, a phone call confirmed they were in the final stages. After more emails and no status update, we finally dropped by the office and talked to our retiring accountant. He was reviewing our return & correcting Red Rock's mistakes, catching what they missed. Needless to say, the transition hasn't gone smoothly. Fortunately, the previous owner was in touch with us by phone or email almost daily, for the last 5 days, to clarify by asking us questions to make necessary changes. Otherwise, we wouldn't be filing our taxes on time today - 4/15, and they would be incorrect - meaning we'd be paying more than $2,000 more than we should! Looking back, Red Rock emails encouraged transitioning clients to file an extension, saying extensions are less likely to be audited. There's absolutely no reason for us to file an extension due to an accountant's mistakes or because they couldn't meet a deadline. In addition, they have the audacity to charge more than my retiring accountant ever has, after he had to make corrections to their work.
