While we were pleased with the rentals and CRA's willingness to accommodate our requests, there were several hiccups along the way: 1. The first difficulty was that the first 2 contracts they mailed to us included pricing errors that would have resulted in overcharging us had we not gone over them with a fine-toothed comb. 2. Secondly, the delivery of our rental on the day of our wedding arrived over 2 hours later than the scheduled time. You can imagine the stress this caused for us trying to prepare our ceremony and reception sites in a timely manner. CRA claimed they had called us the day prior to inform us of the change in timing. In the current age of caller ID, call histories, and voice mail, it dumbfounds me that a company could make that claim and not know that the customer would be aware that the call was never made.

Most likely due to poor managment and very low pay. I know someone who used to work there and i was told they were made to work 7 days a week and would be capped around 30 hrs to avoid paying overtime. We paid a deposit on their website on May 31 for a graduation party on June 22. We left a voicemail at their office the same day asking them to contact us about the party and their rentals. We received no reply from them until June 4 and the only reply was an invoice. No communication about our event. No confirmation. No reply to our voicemail. Just an invoice. So we moved on and found a different rental company to work with. I left another voicemail with Family Affair on June 19 stating I needed a refund of our deposit since we never received confirmation from them. This time I received an immediate call back. Interesting that they were so quick to respond when I left a message about a refund but they had never responded to our previous message, aside from an invoice emailed. The person at Family Affair indicated that they would not be refunding our deposit because they had sent us an invoice on June 4 and we should have understood that this meant we were confirmed. Despite not responding to our voicemails and never contacting us beyond an emailed invoice, we should have known that we were confirmed. The person also told us that their contract states that deposits are non refundable. I asked when did we sign a contract? She replied 'well you didn't sign a contract but when you paid your deposit, we have a contract" She did apologize that never responded to our previous voicemails but told me they would not refund our deposit. This company has extremely poor communication, is not responsive (until you ask for a refund), and has no problem keeping a deposit when their lack of responsiveness caused a problem for the customer. Buyer beware. Find a different company to work with!!
