We have purchased MANY trees over the years from Browns and other local nurseries, but our latest experience at Browns has not been good. A tree we purchased 10 months ago has not been doing well. It has been properly planted and cared for-even "babied" along-and still not doing well. We are not at all new to tree planting or basic knowledge, so to have this kind of issue is very very rare for us. We have inquired back with Browns 3 times now as to what we can do to help this tree make it, and have gotten zero help or answers this far. We are getting the feeling that they are just waiting for our 1 year from purchase guarantee to pass by so that they can skip their commitment. We do not necessarily want the tree to be replaced, we want their input to know to make this tree thrive better and we are not getting it. Our next tree/shrubs may be coming from someplace else. Update from initial paragraphs above... absolutely zero "customer service" for the tree, and our time ran out. We had to cut it down. $300+ in the burn pile. I very rarely give a business this kind of review, but I honestly feel that this was warranted. We played by all of their retune/customer purchase rules and guidelines, and they did nothing. read more

First of all the actual design, making sure the plants are properly placed according to their size. Also, when you pay for a professionally done job you assume they'll use quality products. The mulch was so bad I had to replace it the following spring. read more

We were told that this place has a lot of trees and plants. Not true, it's packed with so many it's a challenge to find what your looking for! No need to fret though, the staff knows where everything is and can answer all your questions. Another thing I liked was that other staff members would step in to assist just to help! What a GREAT place. We bought 3 arborvitae trees to plant as a natural barrier. And it was the best price we saw in the area. As Arnold said, 'I'll be back'! read more

Reasonable prices and great variety! We heard about Brown's but hadn't made it til last Friday (they are open Fri-Sun only). This family-owned business is very knowledgeable and passionate about their work. They have an expansive nursery of plants and trees that look exceptionally healthy, plus the nice little drive out there is a pleasant change from busier town streets. Their list of services is quite long as well. One of the owners loaded up the beautiful panicle hydrangeas for me. It's best to go with some ideas in mind of what you want, have specific questions ready, or just wander off by yourself then seek out the staff-- they are busy and in full high-speed mode! read more

Was wanting to buy a large amount of landscape trees resulting in a large price tag. Found them extremely difficult to work with, incredibly difficult to converse with, and downright rude And condescending. Questions were answered completely different by different staff making things very confusing. The amount of time spent trying to make sense of the various answers while also conversing with belligerent And argumentative staff Was time consuming beyond what it should've been. Waste of money! i purchased and paid them to plant a sun valley maple tree in May 2013, took them 3 weeks for them to plant, OK. It bloomed first year, and its guaranteed 1 yr. To my surprise the following year my tree is dead. I called them, spoke to 3 people 2 different days. I was told someone would take a look at, but that its out of warranty and i am not a priority. For the money i paid, i expected a little more courteous, and them at least come out. Three weeks later, i am done calling, i am reviewing and also reporting to them on BBB. My parents bought several trees over years, never had a problem, so i drove 40 to 45 minutes to go here. it was suppose to be a fast growing tree, so fast i guess dies within 2 seasons. I watered it and even used Jobes food stakes, it looks healthy, the buds just fall off, and i have saplings growing at base. I would like to known why and if should remove it. I really am tired of my neighbors asking me if i know my tree is dead. one wants to make a walking stick out of of it. Buyer Beware. Unless you have money to burn, i will not return to these people nor will i suggest them, i will tell everyone my story, so they know that once a tree is sold and planted, your not a priority, or that they have no people skills. i just a hard worker who wanted a tree that when i retired some day, maybe i could sit under it and shade me and my house. read more
