Pretty decent place if you are looking for a quick breakfast near central park. We ordered the tuna melt (my fiance said it was great), fresh fruit salad (very fresh strawberries and blueberries), fresh oj (my favorite) and bourbon french toasts (tasted great but very big portion, wish I could finish the whole thing). Servers were nice but service was pretty slow. I recommend this place if you're looking for a cheap/small breakfast near central park. However, nothing really stood out about this place to us. We will not come back as there are many other options to discover in this city.

This was a strange place. Walked in after a day in Central Park, and as its conveniently located near the Plaza I thought it might be a nice place for coffee and lunch. It's very modern inside, but not exactly nice. And no one welcomed us when we came inside - so it was confusing if we should seat ourselves or order from the barista. I think this is part of a boutique hotel so the guests were mainly hotel guests. One star off for the confusion and strange environment. However, the latte was good (expensive at $5, and no barista design unfortunately) and the tuna melt was delicious and simple. It came with a side salad. It was all $14 after the 15% yelp discount. I would recommend for a lunch after Central Park, but if it's nice weather, I would take it to go.

Coffee place in Midtown, we came for breakfast and it was really good! The price is ok, we had some eggs, french taost, orange juice and lattes. Very very good, the service is a little bit slow but breakfast was delicious. Cafecito en Midtown, vinimos para el desayuno y fue muy bueno! El precio esta ok, comimos huevos, french toast, jugo de naranja y unos lattes. Muy muy bueno, el servicio es un poco lento pero el desayuno fue delicioso.

Bourbon French toast and their drip coffee

I read about the bourbon French toast and had to venture there. It's a small, contemporary place attached to a hotel. Was greeted right away and seated. I ordered my coffee and French toast and enjoyed watching the people walking by the storefront while sipping my wake up potion. The food came and it looked appetizing. There was enough syrup and fruits to have a little bit Of everything on each bite. It's enough of a serving to feel full yet not dreading a brisk walk after. I enjoyed the meal and the service.

What you might not notice is this 5 pieces of perfectly cooked apple smoked bacon.......amen

what can you say about this place other than the food is wonderful. from their signature French toast to the eggs and salmon. Small place and simple yet perfect decorations. we ate in a room where they could close it off from others. the French toast had layers and layers of flavor from the crusted edges to the blueberries and walnuts. the eggs and salmon simply melted in your mouth. the prices? totally worth it!!!

First time going to this cafe. It was a bit packed when I came in but by the time I left half empty. My friend and I both got the Thé du Hammam and asked for honey with it. It was delicious! I got the chicken caprese with a side of salad. It was nice and crispy with nice taste that wasn't overpoweringly flavorful. My friend got the pulled pork sandwich. He said it was really good and not too saucy. He only wish it had a toothpick in it or something so that it wouldn't fall apart so easily. Overall great place. 4/5 stars because the service could've been a bit better. Our table wasn't full set when we were seated and so we didn't have utensils or napkins... I would come again to try some other things on their menu!

I came here twice because of promotions on the Ritual app ($5 off). The first time, I ordered a latte with oat milk. The brand they use is supposedly a very low quality one. Definitely reflects in the taste. My oat milk latte was not pleasing. The second (and last) time, I ordered the avocado toast. I didn't think you can do avocado toast wrong, but they serve this dish with absolute injustice. It was SO soggy, even just seconds after I opened the takeout box. I couldn't pick up a piece without the bread sagging. I only paid $4.80 because of the promotion, but I don't know how they charge a ridiculous $9 for it. Wouldn't recommend this place for anything.

Place is quite small and dark. Think they are going for a more modern style but it's just not there. Food portion was small, and not very flavorful. Had the steak hash. If you are looking for just a quick bite or just a quick coffee, they do have good espressos and lattes. But this is not a place to take your a family or a date.

Based on the four star standing, my wife and I gave a. cafe a try. We were not disappointed. Everything was fresh. The smoked salmon was of excellent quality, as were the fresh berries. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and not tart. It only comes in one size. The syrup they serve is not real, meaning in contains corn syrup. This was the only hitch we discovered. As a result we changed our first order choice. The servers were friendly and efficient. The decor can be described as simplistic and modern. The environment was clean and quiet. Everyone was able to converse without having to shout over music or restaurant bustle. There appears to be seating for about 20 people, so there may be a wait. We only waited for a few minutes. We plan to dine here once again.

Love this place, first, its really close to central park, perfect spot for brunch after weekend morning park strolling. Food: we came here for brunch. We got the bfast burrito, three eggs omelet, and the du hamman tea. I'm not a huge tea person, but i'm impressed with the du hamman. Loved the natural sweetness from the dates and rose petal in it. Will have to find this tea bag in Chicago. The omelet is different from the ones i used to have, in a good way. The egg is spread pretty thin with a thin layer of ham and spinach laid on top, everything is layered instead of whisked with the egg before cooked. Love how it came out. The breakfast potato that came with it was great! They are potato cubes with some red spice on it. Loved the flavor of it. Atmosphere: modern deco and cozy tiny dining area. Service: friendly and attentive Cons: no seats for just grabbing a cup of coffee and read/work tho.

This place is horrible. Just went there and purchased a burrito. It was stuffed with 80% potato's so they dont have to spend money on the other ingredients. You can barely taste anything else that comes with the burrito. Bland and terrible with horrible coffee. Absolutely a rip off. Gross, dont waste your money. read more

I liked this place and was glad to find it in the area, which is otherwise pretty pricey. This place was more affordable and service was pleasant. The decor is modern and clean, a little soulless perhaps. Good all day breakfast/brunch menu, although I would have to rate it good, not great. I had the three egg omelette - it was fine, it didn't quite hit the spot for me compared to some other places I've been to, but it was certainly good enough. This is a small cafe with very intriguing atmosphere. I personally really enjoyed eating here, I think the Avocado Toast is a MUST TRY. Service was quick and attentive. The difference is a waitress names Candice. She is absolutely wonderful; friendly, helpful and was always there upon command. She made my dining experience delightful. Would definately come back for more!!! read more

Attached to a hotel. The breakfast burrito had a massive amount of cheese on one half and not much on the other. The multigrain sandwich was fine. I was really hungry when I got there so it was satisfactory. Better options nearby. Probably won't be back. read more

We were staying at a hotel nearby where breakfast for 2 adults and a 6 year old came out to 160.00 so we decided to find another place for a more reasonably priced breakfast. Found this spot on Yelp and glad we did. The cafe is small and very modern contemporary/minimalist. We had a great breakfast. Our server was super sweet. I had the French Toast and it was yummy. Definitely keeping this place in mind on my next trip read more

Upon arrival we were greeted by the server who told us our wait would be 30 minutes. We said no problem and were seated in less than five. After being seated we waited at least 10-15 before asking if we could get a cup of coffee and a water. We received the coffee but never got the water. I ordered the bourbon French toast hat was very good. My husband ordered the egg white omelet with spinach, tomato, feta and onion. They forgot to include tomato. Overall his omelet had a good flavor despite missing tomatoes. Even though the service was poor I would go back to try the lemon ricotta pancakes. read more

The breakfast was amazing! My husband got the french toast which was to die for. Also, we both ordered the cappuccino and added the "Tahitian Vanilla". You haven't LIVED until you have tried it. I ended up ordering two while I was there. We found it the last day we were staying in NYC and had I found it sooner we would have gone everyday for breakfast. Prices are moderate, not crazy expensive. Worth the stop! read more

Two medium size lemon ricotta pancakes which were good, very dry over cooked scrambled eggs and a cup of tea for $24.75 before tax. All served in a cave-like gray bunker. Yelp reviewers, you let me down. This must be a cafe designed for tourists because I can't imagine locals putting up with this level of breakfast when a good meal at the Smith can be had for as much. I will note - Service was the good point. read more

Fast and friendly service to get drinks and order the a long wait for scrambled eggs and lox and bagel. Bacon was burnt on the ends and barely cooked in the middle (ordered "crispy") and breakfast potatoes were cold. Husband liked his lox and bagels. Never saw the waiter after the drinks were delivered. read more

Our breakfast was amazing, the service was prompt and friendly, the espresso drinks were uber tasty, and the food was off the chain. We had the French Toast with bourbon sauce, and the Breakfast Burrito. They were both amazing and I would go as far as to say the Breakfast Burrito was the best I've had. If I had to make a negative comment the only thing I could come up with is that dining room is a little dark. But our experience was far and way better then any other restaurant we've tried on this trip. This was the perfect last stop on our adventure to this amazing city. read more

The lounge and cafe are awesome! The lounge has a fireplace that is perfect for a glass of red wine and good conversation during fall and winter. Marco is amazing and their homemade sangria is dangerously delicious. The cafe menu has been revamped and definitely worth checking out. read more

Midwestern Guy: Overall, I give a.cafe a 3 star - a-ok rating. The coffee gets a 4 from me, they have a small selection of amazing specialty brews that they will concoct for you. It is all small sourced, organic, deliciously roasted beans. The food gets a 2 from me - I ordered the 3 egg omelet with potatoes and toast. The toast was the best part of the meal, which is never a good sign when it is your standard bread and jam. While the omelet was made correctly, they cook their omelets crepe style and fold in the ingredients, which to me adds a burnt egg taste. If this is your style of omelet, you would love it though! Unfortunately my potatoes were either cooked on a dirty skillet or stored in the freezer too long in an unsealed container, as they had a dirty, soapy aftertaste to every bite. Putting this aside, they were cooked well and appeared to be seasoned well, but I could not get over the taste. In the future, I would stop in for a coffee again, but grab a bite to eat at one of the many other restaurants nearby. read more

Worst stop EVER! Bad service, bad food and horrible atmosphere. Waitress brought us egg omelettes that tasted like eggs were a decade old and cheese was rotten. A basic bloody mary was $20 and didn't have a single garnish nor a straw... also terrible! read more

This is a great place for breakfast -- one of the best small restaurants I have ever come across. The atmosphere is one of simple elegance -- modern and sparse in decor. The menu, however, is rich in variety, and everything my wife and I chose in our two visits well-prepared and delicious. There are less than a dozen small tables for two, and the noise level is quiet. read more

I've been to a.cafe a couple times and have had excellent experiences. I would highly recommend the salmon burger and the a.burger. Super delicious! The service from our waiter Marco was top notch - very attentive, extremely nice and welcoming. Also, do yourself a favor and get a cappuccino made expertly by Melissa or Iliana; you won't be disappointed. read more

The French toast was one of the best I've had. Fresh, soft (not hard) and perfectly cooked. This place is small and be prepared for a little wait when busy. Service was good and good came out in a timely matter. So if you like affordable, good and tasting breakfast try A Cafe. read more

To anyone visiting from out of town: From this New Yorker, please know if you experience something similar at Sarge's it is not the norm ... most NYC restaurants, cafes, grab/go, coffee shops, bodegas will treat you kindly, without attitude. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!
