We saw multiple parties having to be turned away without a reservation and the tables (only 6!) were always full with reservations. We ordered salad #2 and the vegetable soup to start. The salad was the star! Very similar to a Chinese chopped salad. For our mains, the salmon was our favorite. It was perfectly cooked and sat on top of a bed of warm cabbage. We do wish we ordered the spare pork ribs, though. They looked and smelled amazing as they passed by to another table! Tip: Be sure to bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. The only difference was that before the meal we were presented with two tiny appetizers that are regional dishes. The first was a little cube of bread stuffed with pork, that none of us ate because we just are not into that sort of thing. The second was a delightful bit of fresh cheese topped with house-made marmalade and two almond slivers. It was delicious! So..... why did I eat here? Well, three reasons: I was craving a steak and the menu had a whole section of sirloins and filets. I was given a coupon for a free bottle of wine with dinner upon checking in to the hotel (and this gal loves coupons!). There was a huge thunderstorm at dinner time and hotel restaurants are very convenient. That said, four of us each had sirloin dinners.... two with onion sauce and two with peppercorn sauce. The meat was slightly undercooked for all of us.... but it was tasty and tender. Each dinner came with a choice of two of the following: vegetable au gratin, jasmine rice, or french fries. We all had the vegetable dish and the rice. The former was like a soft stacked vegetable cookie. Thin layers of sweet potato and zucchini were baked with cheese. It was tasty, but could have been warmer. The rice was slightly undercooked and a bit too heavy on the olive oil and light on the salt and pepper. The service was friendly and efficient, but I was quite surprised when I received the check to see that the roll we were each offered from a basket at the beginning of our meal came with a $3 surprise price tag (each!). When I questioned this the waiter took off the charge for two out of four of the rolls which lessened the sting just a bit, but not completely. Great view. Credit cards accepted.

The tour was excellent, our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The process is fascinating. We finished with the tastings. The ports are fantastic. We had a Porto rose, tawny, and LBV. This winery is definitely worth a visit!

They set up lunch for us in the wine cellar. It was such a beautiful space, the walls were lined with oak barrels and there was some cool art at the far side. The table was set so perfectly with a couple of bottles of wine, a charcuterie board full of different cheeses and meats, and a very tasty fruit salad. They thought of everything, even having a heater under the table. We had the entire cellar to ourselves, just the three of us. After lunch, we did a tasting and tour of the winery with a group. The day couldn't have been more perfect and I had an amazing experience here!

Knowing we were tourists, they were very helpful on navigating the menu. We started with a lovely platter of meats, cheese, olives and bread with red wine. Delicious. Then a dish of cod fritter was offered. Just fantastic. We ordered grilled cod and fried cod al la Braga. OMG the flavors, texture and presentation were outstanding. She started this restaurant adventure with her sister known to be a talented cook. Her husband, the wine maker of Aneto had purchased with her a winery that required a lot of attention and love. So, the idea was to create an Artisanal and innovative restaurant that would be supporting and enhancing their wine business. Well, they are now number ONE and recognized by the regional wine tourism association! Bravo ! They offer a small selection of Tapas and a wine pairing experience with eight original creations. They were also recommended to me by the owner of two great restaurants in Porto (Meia-Nau). The verdict is great! Our Tapas with Mussels and Sardines were great. The Portobello mushroom with tomatoes and a decomposition of ratatouille was divine. The Black Pasta with Mussels was also excellent. And for the wine The Grand Reserve Tinto 2020 was a delightful surprise. A full body wine with a well balanced combination of complexity and lightness. This wine offers a mixed elixir of joy with oak, vanilla, strong Blackberry , dark curent and wet saddle as well as a hint of chocolate and citrus! The cuisine was par excellence, the setting overlooking the Douro River superb and the hospitality and service unmatched. The baked cod melted in your mouth, the salad ever so fresh, the mushroom bread soup delicious. When we noted to the waiter a large pot delivered to the owner's table, we inquired as to its contents. We expected a simple answer, but the owner brought us a bowl of chicken, rice and sausage like we had never had before. For desert we had fresh pineapple with the chef's spices, quite different and refreshing. Anyone visiting the Douro Valley should make a plan to try the Douro In for lunch or dinner!
