This is the next day, my hair was manageable enough for me to do mini-twists and put them in a bun.

This was my first time going to a Deva stylist or any stylist with my natural hair in its natural state. And let me tell you, Kara is a great stylist. She's very educated, pays attention to detail, has a nice personality and her salon is beautiful. I am African American, and because I saw a couple of pictures of previous AA clients, I decided to give her a try. And oh wow, she was really worth the hundred dollars. She is an expert and takes her time. Her salon is beautiful and she really cares about her clients and trying to educate and not judge. When I came to her, my hair had been crying out for TLC, but I couldn't really do anything because my ends were so bad, they kept tangling up on me. I still need to go back, because I still have some straggling ends, but I believe I have too much hair to do in one session and especially in its natural state rather than being styled straight first. She took pictures of my hair from the back, and normally I hate pictures. But she said it was for progress over time, and I finally get what she means. I've attached my two personal pictures because I want to help any African Americans who are worried that a Deva stylist may only be able to do loose or big curls (think types B and C). You can trust her, I have tight little ringlets. I just want to help anyone with super tight curls see that she's the best. Tip #1: To find her salon, look for the house. There is a mailbox, a little off to the side, but basically in front of the house, and close to the street. .And her mailbox says "A curl girl" on the side of it. Tip #2: Be prepared for strangers to tell you how beautiful your hair is from the moment you leave her chair (not just her shop). Other clients were complimenting me before I left, and I have received more and more compliments from strangers ever since.

Kara did such an amazing job!!!

So happy my friend recommended A Curl Girl. We finally learned techniques to take care of my daughters curls. Cara was fabulous.

Would this be a good place to take my almost 4 year old with ringlets and very thin hair that gets tangled quickly? I have no idea how to do her hair!

Yes! We are happy to help.  I am usually about 3 months out.  We can assist in scheduling a time then. However I do offer a wishlist and do get openings on occasion.… Read more

Do you do curly hair perms?

I am sorry, I do not.

I am currently trying to grow out my undercut and would like to get hair extensions to make the transition a little easier. Is this something you do at your salon?

I’m sorry, I do not do extensions.

Do you install full lace wig? If you do how much do you charge?

    I’m sorry, I do not.

I came to ASH to help me fix my covid hair cut and color. Wish I never did it but ultimately I just thought an all over brown would do the trick. I loved my hair in the beginning but the second I started washing my hair I noticed it fading. I now have green, gross, and dull hair. The part that makes me the most mad is that I paid $300 to them to take me brown. That is insane. Especially because there is NO WAY that they used permanent hair dye on me. Do not go here. They sell you this whole vibe but really they don't know what they are doing and use Demi-permanent hair color and charge you a fortune. Before they come back and say that it must be my shampoo or hair care. I use Kevin Murphy the brand they recommend. I seriously cannot believe I spent over $300 for something I could have gone to Sephora and just picked up temporary color for and spend $30. The pictures should show you exactly what you are going to get at ASH.
