This is my first ever Yelp review, and the only reason I'm writing it is because of how blatantly unethical this practice is. Dr. Tran, the dentist who worked on me, told me I had periodontal disease and even claimed my gums were like those of a 55-year-old -- I was in my early 30s. Horrified, I got multiple second opinions, and every single dentist said I was perfectly fine. That's when I realized this place was nothing but a scam. To make things worse, they still send me messages to this day, trying to lure me back by saying I have dental insurance money left this year and should schedule more treatment. It's predatory, manipulative, and disgusting. This place didn't just waste my time and money -- they made me lose trust in dentists altogether. Avoid at all costs. read more

Updating: I've always had a fear of going to the dentist, but A+ Family Dentistry completely changed that for me. I had my wisdom teeth removal, a root canal and a crown done at this office and I couldn't be more grateful for the care I received. Dr. Tran, Esther and Laura were absolutely amazing throughout the entire process. After my wisdom teeth removal, I had ZERO PAIN which I honestly didn't expect that. Last week, I felt discomfort with my temporary crown right before a trip. Sogol at the front desk was so kind and helpful. She did everything she could to fit me in for a same day appointment, and I truly appreciate that having a peace of mind before traveling. Today, I finally got my permanent crown installed. My daughter was really nervous and Dr. Tran and his dental assistants were so gentle with her. She had extractions done and she has minimal pain this evening. My 1st appointment: I was so happy that I switched to this Dentist. I came in because of an emergency procedure and was taken in the next day. The assistants in the back were kind, and helped me through everything-- I didn't need to worry about the procedure at all. I wasn't even panicked about the cost, because the staff explain the cost and the many options they have with you. The pair of blonde receptionist that were there at the time, really went up and beyond for me. My 2nd appointment: On my second appointment the dental assistants were understanding and took there time with me. When getting X-rays of my teeth, it took no time at all. I was then spoken to about my dental plan, and once again I was made very comfortable about the price and what I was going to pay in each appointment going further. I really enjoyed the fact that they allowed me to pay by appointment. Whatever procedure I would get done that day I would pay in full , which makes it much easier to save when I know that I can pay the full amount of what will be done that day- the day of the appointment- before I go in and get the work done. My 3rd Appointment: The check in was great! I was able to pay the full amount of the work that was to be done that day. Though this time, I was told I should've been charged a $50.00 deposit to make an appointment. Initially because of my previous experiences I thought this was strange, but I ended up shrugging it off. Sometimes one rule gets forgotten in the process, and I completely understand that. Yet, going into booking my next appointment, instead of the original 50 to pay to book the apointment, they wanted me to pay half. I have seen the reviews where people of mentioned that a few staff were rude and really pushed for the sale, trying to get as much money out of you as possible. I now understand. It is frustrating when one appointment they tell you one thing, and the next it's a whole set of new rules that no one told you about. read more

I felt very bad one time we were late, I was so stressed, but they were so amazing and kind about it. I don't recommend being late just to respect and be mindful of the staff's time and other customers time. They are punctual or early to treat you. They are very fast but don't give that "rushed" or "in a hurry" feeling which I am extremely grateful for. It feels relaxing when they are helping you and you feel catered to as if they are taking their time and you are the only one there. I even accidentally took a little nap because how comfortable it was. I just want to emphasize they are fast though which is very respectful to your time. It is pretty rare for me to enjoy phone calls and enjoy going to the dentist, but I enjoy both here because this office in particular is amazing. They are very detail oriented, respectful, kind, and helped calm me down. For example, for no extra cost they asked me about my tooth that I got a root canal on, because it had a black stain from either my cavity or another dentist. And they asked me if I wanted it removed and I said yes. I really am happy they gave me the option respectfully. They also gave me a clean warm blanket when I was cold. A neck pillow for support. (The staff didn't even know I have scoliosis and a bad back). They even let me use their X-ray protector vest because the weight comforted me. (I have anxiety and PTSD, and this dentist treated me so kindly without even knowing problems I have). Every single person here has the heart of gold. They treat you well no matter what ethnicity you are, what problems you have, how many cavities you have, how poor or rich you are, what you are wearing. They treat all patients equally, with zero bias, which I really am grateful for and is very kind and professional of them to do so. The process is almost completely pain free. They do what is healthiest and best for you, and give you plenty of options if you need to do something more affordable. Notes to keep in mind but I don't mind and it is still nice: 1.) It is small, but it is spacious inside the building. 2.) Parking is limited, but there is plenty of parking across the street at the 99 cents store plaza. 3.) Try to have a PPO insurance if you can. 4.) Watch your step when you are about to enter. There are little mini steps. (They have the yellow markings that are visible, and they have a ramp option next to the steps as well). 5.) Be sure you come early to fill out a pre-screening to protect the staff and yourself. I want to refer every single friend and family member I really love and care about here because this place took care of me like a family or really close friend would. I am extremely grateful to this gem. I wish there were more dentists like this one. I live in Los Angeles now. I drive from Los Angeles to San Diego just for this dentist. Quality of care improves quality of life: This is, by far, the best dental care I've experienced. The 3d imaging (CBCT) of the entire mouth was one of the best approaches to my long term dental care. It showed my entire upper and lower teeth images and potential problems better than xrays. No other dentist office I've been to has offered this. I'm glad I had it done. Terrible experience 2 years ago, try to charge me and my insurance for all X-Ray and un-necessary things as new patient. I feel they are scamming and try to charge whatever they want without patient know/understand. I did not get my regular cleaning, but my poor insurance end up has to pay them the X-Ray, consultant, evaluation, etc. they try to ask me out of pocket big amount say need deep cleaning. I will never go there and not recommend any friend, family and co-workers to this dentist. read more

These people are the absolute best! My husband and I found them a little while back, and we're so glad we found them. They do very good work and do it fairly quick as well. I'm especially glad to have met them because I have severe anxiety and am very nervous anytime I'm at the dentist, but going into their office after the first appointment I'm way less nervous and a lot more relaxed. I came in after not having dental work for about 10 years. Rodger and the team did an incredible full mouth assessment with laser imagery and precisely explained to me the story of my teeth. The prices were really good and the presentation was comprehensive. I called back a few days later with molar pain and they got me right in to fix my issues. From Dr Roger Tran on down, they are professional, friendly, and always make sure I'm satisfied with their work. This is a far cry from my former dentist who couldn't be bothered to say hello to me when he entered the room (his dentist son behaved similarly), and the person who asked me to not recommend the teeth whitening services after she had just finished whitening my teeth (!). Truly an outstanding dentistry office! Drs. Tran & Sigafoos, and their entire staff - Kassidy and Kasey at the desk, and Assistants Esther, Rachel and Cassandra are all knowledgeable, professional, friendly and caring. My wife had been seeing them for her cleanings, and when I cracked a molar, in early 2021, they were able to get me in, that day, on an emergency basis. I had significant bone loss, due to my history of insufficient dental care (my fault), and Dr. Tran explained to me what that would mean. I have since had several surgeries with the periodontist Dr. Sigafoos - a natural and patient teacher, and with the training they've given me in hygiene and care, I'm looking forward to keeping my own teeth for as long as I can use them! I would not recommend. The office is old. The equipment is old and when I went in for a cleaning and whitening they said they wanted full mouth X-rays and I assumed he had modern dental equipment. The tech came in with the oldest type of x-ray machine and messed up the first one 3 times. I asked how many more and she said we do 18 x-rays!! I said on top of the 3 you just messed up? She said yes and I said buy a modern rotating x-ray machine and I walked out. You should never let anyone dose you this much. Do not use Dr. Tran. My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Tran and his staff for over 10 years. They used to be a wonderful office with excellent, friendly staff, fair practices and charges, and good treatment. Unfortunately, the ethics have been declining steadily to the extent that neither of us trust this office any longer. All businesses are in existence to make money. However, this one seems to have migrated to the point that money is transparently it's focus, rather than professional treatment and fair billing. This trend has accelerated in the last few years, coinciding with the addition of their current office manager. Here are the facts: 1) They consistently "add on" treatment to basic teeth cleaning, resulting in a $100 plus bill for what should be a free, insurance covered procedure. This is done without communicating this to patients in advance. 2) Additionally, and more egregiously, both with my wife and a friend of ours, Dr. Tran advocated expensive procedures which were subsequently deemed unnecessary by other dentists. (This doesn't seem to be a standalone thing as evidenced by some other reviews.) In a recent final straw, when in a phone discussion about some of this with the Office Manager, she interrupted the call by saying she had an urgent matter come up, and she would call me back right away. She never did, even after I called the office about the non-returned call. If you can't trust your dentist and his manager, it's time to move on. read more
