Fantastic stay at this very charming inn by the cliffside…read more I was looking for a nice bed and breakfast but had resorted to Airbnb since I was booking last minute, and was ecstatic when I came cross this place, checked out their tripadvisor reviews (#1 in the area) and just contacted Robert directly through the Cliffside Inn website. Conveniently located 5-10 minutes away from the PEI ferry, the breathtaking view of the waterfront and trees captures your heart as you drive up to the inn. We loved our two bedroom suite, which, while cozy, gave you balcony access and perfect view of the cliffs and ocean as the sun rose behind it each morning. The common spaces in the inn was comfortable as well, and Robert was a great host - very welcoming and prepared a wonderful breakfast each morning, and spent time with us to help map out our day to some fantastic off-the-beaten path spots of PEI. Highly recommend this inn, and definitely look forward to coming back.

When Johnson Shore Inn comes into view, on a grassy point where all you hear is the water lulling you into a near state of sedation, you can exhale. Peace. Quiet. Heaven. Mel and Dave run this Inn, landscaping, bottle-washing, direction-giving, key-dispensing, cocktail-serving and dinner-making and it is all good. Mel's cooking is awesome... She made a Demi-glacé tonight that had us LITERALLY mopping it up from the plate. The evening before, it was a perfectly encrusted haddock with organic potatoes that melt in your mouth. Have it all. There is one dinner service and what's for dinner is whatever Mel feels like making. Before dinner, guests gather for cocktails and oysters, briny, plump pops of pure protein fresh from the ocean that morning. We swear by the PEI Oyster oath (right hand raised) before digging in. Guests from all over meet to swap stories....of a life raising race horses, of shooting a grizzly bear in Manitoba, of the delightful personalities of weasels, of preparing for William and Kate's visit, of home made moonshine, and the need to carry bear bells and bear spray in Canada. My husband and I sat with wine glasses in hand, eyes wide open just drinking it all in. Naive New Yorkers. Immaculate rooms, pristinely quiet as there is no television, sleeping on line-dried linens that smell crisp and cucumber-y, like how fresh sheets used to be. One thing about PEI. Everything looks like a house. Restaurants look like houses, so do stores, funeral homes, gas stations and inns. Peace. Quiet. Heaven. Oh, and great cooking!

Every summer for 9 years I have been taking my family here for a reason…read more Gourmet food in a fantastic setting. The cooks use local ingredients including many herbs and vegetables from their gardens. Service here is excellent, as the manager is deeply involved in operations. For a great view of St. Peters Bay and fantastic food this place is worth the trip. We often stop here on the way back from Basin head beach or after cycling / hiking near St. Peters. Ending a summer day here makes for a fantastic end to a great PEI day!
