We were incredibly picky when it came to photographers. We met with several before landing on Matt. We really liked the photojournalistic style, but not the price that came along with photojournalists. Matt was the best of both worlds. His portfolio had some really great candid photos that caught our attention. He was also one of the very few, if not the only wedding photographer we met with, that was flexible on custom tailoring a package to suit our particular wants and needs. Compared to other photographers with the same level of talent, Matthew has got to be the most reasonably priced that there is. The turnaround time to get our photos after the wedding was also incredible. We got a sneak preview of 30+ photos just 3 days after the wedding. Beyond that, the full 1,000 photos from the wedding were edited and available for viewing not more than a week after the wedding day. I wouldn't expect this to be the norm, because we were anticipating more like a 3 - 4 week turnaround, but we were definitely pleasantly surprised. We really wanted to make sure that all aspects of our wedding were captured, so we opted to add a second photographer to our package. The second photographer that Matt brought along, Sabrina, was also really great to work with. The best part about working with Matt was his energetic, infectious attitude. In our meetings before the wedding when chatting about the places we wanted to take photos and the styles we had in mind, he was very peppy and positive. He offered up suggestions when we needed them and noted our preferences when we had specific requests. This upbeat attitude continued throughout the full 8 hours plus that he was with us on our wedding day. He not only worked really well with the pre-planned elements, but also saw opportunities along the way for on the fly photo opps which were some of the funnest shots in the bunch. The wedding photographer I originally booked about a year in advance bailed on us, and only a few months before the wedding (when stress levels were sky high, let me tell you!) Sam rescued us. He was very interested in the types of photos I liked, while also maintaining his artistic style. I felt like I got to customize the entire day as the little wedding pinterest junkie I was, while still getting all the professional guidance of a pro. Sam has a great personality for this industry. He is laid back and accommodating, but also very conscientious about providing the best quality and service. My sister, and also one of my bridesmaids, is mentally handicapped and I was concerned with the photography at the wedding because she often strikes a very stiff and unnatural pose when she knows she is being photographed. It's hard for her to hold a good smile for longer than 10 seconds, which is potentially problematic in a photo-documented event like a wedding. Sam was great in getting her to relax and be comfortable in front of the camera. He found a way to get her to smile more naturally, and keep her smile from falling by cuing her right before the shot was taken. I so appreciated the time he took to ease my concerns and ensure all the photos looked great. Once the photos are all edited and ready to go, Sam puts them in an online gallery (password protected) so you can share them with family and friends. I also received a disc containing all the finished photos, so I can use them for years to come. :)

Sam showed incredible dedication to making our day and our memories just as we wanted them. We live in New York and came home to Omaha for our wedding. Choosing the photographer from afar was tricky and we spent more time thinking about how we could or whether we even should decide without having the chance to talk to one in person. But from literally the moment we met him just 4 days in advance of our wedding, we instantly knew we made the right choice. Sam is incredibly thoughtful. He figured out our style and delivered an experience that matched us exactly. He was early for everything, giving a sense of security and peace of mind any nervous couple yearns for. He met his timeline giving us previews in a week, an assorted selection in 3 weeks, and our full set of 600 or so prints in a month mailed to our home in a month. And I won't give away the surprise, but HOW we sent the pictures was so cute, thoughtful, personal, unique...an unexpected touch that was like 4 cherries on top of a delicious experience. And his photographs! Amazing! He knows his equipment and uses it to its full potential. Even under extreme lighting conditions, the pictures are unbelievable. In the direct sun, in the shadowy hallways of an old mansion, and even in some pretty extreme action shots the pictures are flawless. She was communicative, professional -- important especially during COVID-19, and an excellent photographer. She arrived on time, ensured she got pictures of all the groups we wanted (there were 9 of us all together), patiently waited to get smiles out of the four kids under age 5, worked efficiently (the whole thing was done in about an hour), and took amazing pictures. I had been putting off writing a review for Daniel Dunlap Photography - but only because I was…read morestruggling to find a way to adequately describe the awesomeness that is Daniel Dunlap. Working with Daniel was a dream come true for an individual much like myself who 1. Is virtually clueless about photography, 2. Is not a fan of being the center of attention (thus the thought of having someone snapping photos of me all day was a bit unnerving) and 3. Values the importance of having--as cliché as this may sound--a once-in-a-lifetime event chronicled in beautifully memorable imagery. Daniel was hilariously easy-going, incredibly responsive, the stealthiest "fly on the wall" and equally respectful of everyone's time. Not only was he always quick to respond to our many questions and requests (literally within 30 minutes every time we reached out to him), but he was so laid back and confident in his work that it put us completely at ease - making our uncooperative shih tzu the only point of concern throughout both our engagement session and the wedding day. (Side note: Daniel is great with dogs.) Not only did Daniel just "have an eye" for the best, most beautiful and most memorable shots, but he was also so quick(!) - a trait that our families and friends really appreciated, especially when it came to the big group photos. I heard a lot of "That's it? That was fast!" after our family was reprieved from their photo posing duties. But perhaps what I loved most about Daniel was the end result - the photos. I barely shed a tear on my wedding day, but when looking through the moments Daniel captured on our big day--especially the ones we didn't even realize he was taking--I nearly turned into a blubbering child. If that doesn't give you any indication of how incredible Daniel is at photography, I'm not sure what does.
