My wife and I went on a two day trip to Philly and Washington DC from New York. We reserved it…read morethrough Viator. Our main complaint was that there was no itinerary given before the trip. Our bus was to leave at 6:30am. We arrived at 6:10am, due to it being so early we had to get there by taxi. We met our guide and asked him if we had time to go get some coffee and a quick bite to eat? He said that they were on a time limit (the bus had not arrived). We didn't leave until 6:45am. We had to make a stop in New Jersey to pick up some people. We made our first stop in Philly (still no food break). We went to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall before getting our breakfast at 11:00am (our guide brought his coffee and breakfast and was eating it on our way to Philly). Lunch was at 2:15pm and dinner wasn't until about 8:30pm. Before we left I heard our bus driver complaining about the lack of tips he got. When we past by the Pentagon I asked the driver about the plane crash on 9/11. His response was "allegedly", so he did not mention it on the tour. Some places I wish we would have stopped to see like the MLK Memorial. We just drove by. A lot of history my wife and I knew about that our guide did not mention. I I went again, I think I would choose a different travel service.

Peter talked down to us and was rushing through the stops. He said we would stop every 2 hours for bathroom breaks, but that wasn't the case. He didn't communicate the itinerary very well to us, making it very difficult for us to plan meals and sovereign shopping. He bypassed stops that I was interested in seeing for malls. If I wanted to go to a malls would at home, to be honest. Now that being said, the second part of my trip was DC our tour guide Joseph was great, he communicated with us every change and option he gave us free time to do what we wanted to do on our vacation. Just needed to be at the bus on time, which most people respected. I understand unexpected things come up, but it's how you handle it that makes a difference. Obviously, Peter did not handle the situation well, which ruined the first half of my vacation!

He was also great at pointing out hidden and obscure symbols left by the builders of the Statue of Liberty as well as good places to take photos. He also offered to take amazing pictures of everyone under the statue of liberty by lying on the ground. On Ellis Island, he walked us through in detail how immigrants went through the registration process as well as how his ancestors made it through Ellis Island. He also explained how he found the original documents and assured us that he fact checked everything he told us on the tour. I feel like he is an amazing tour guide and I would recommend his tour to anyone.

Rob was rude, condescending and we learned virtually nothing about 9-11. We learned about the subway, however, we didn't pay for that. Overall, extremely disappointed and we had little to no time to take pictures as promised. This is not a tour group I'd recommend. Rob had many personal statements that seemed to benefit him and not the tour group. Also, making an extremely rude comment to us was inappropriate and ended the tour for me there.

I did the Carroll Gardens tour, aka Cool Down on Court Street, on Sat July 28 with two friends who had a gift certificate. Our first stop was Milk bar, which I had been to before, but I was excited to try other things I hadn't tasted yet. All we were given was a sample size dollop of cereal milk ice cream, served in those small taste tester cups you get at a fro yo place. That was it. Our second stop appeared to be a local Italian deli, but I can't say for sure because we weren't taken inside. As we stood outside on the sidewalk, Adrienne pulled a container of soppressata out of a paper bag that she had been carrying and passed it around for us to try. She said it was from the same deli, but who knew if that was true? It became very clear at this point in the tour that she was being incredibly cheap, and that we were going to get the tiniest sample portion at each stop. Not to mention that soppressata is supposed to be stored in a refrigerator. Given that it was a hot summer day, Adrienne created a potential food safety concern by not storing it properly. Who knows how old it was?? I hope no one got sick! The next stop was at a pastry shop, where we had a pastry that was like a cross between a bagel and a biali. For a group of 8 people, she bought 2 of these and cut them into four pieces, so that each portion size was a few bites. She did the same thing at the sandwich shop. By the end of the tour, we were all still hungry. At our last stop, a sit down restaurant, we asked Adrienne if we could order more food because we were still hungry, and she told us that she was ordering dessert and that we'd be fine. We each got half of a dessert, a small piece of chocolate cake that was split into two. The tour was advertised as 2.5 hours, yet we arrived at the last stop only 1.5 hours in and were expected to sit at the restaurant for the last hour. The little amount of food we received at each stop did not nearly justify the $50 cost for the tour, so PLEASE find another tour - there are great ones in NYC for the same price where you don't leave hungry and dissatisfied at the end. By the way, I emailed Adrienne to explain my dissatisfaction and to ask her for a 50% refund, and she was most unprofessional in her response. So here I am writing my first Yelp review instead. I suspect the positive reviews that are on here are written by her family and friends (indeed her mother wrote the first one, as she says herself). Adrienne's dad was on the tour with us, along with another guy that was clearly a friend, so take that as you will. Whatever you do, avoid this tour!!!

The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable about the experience. I also felt safe because there was not any overcrowding of the tour. On the Foundations of New York tour, we did 2-2.5 hours of walking around lower Manhattan: Battery Park to the Customs House to NY Stock Exchange to Trinity Church to the 9/11 Memorial to City Hall..just to name a few! What's different about this as oppose to taking a class on how to use your camera or watching a video is that it's fun! Because you learn something on your camera and then you give it a try!!
