I just had my car "smogged" by Jon at A1, and I can attest that it was a completely pain-free experience. I was there on a Monday at about 9:30, and I was the only person there, no wait, so it was very quick. The waiting area is comfy, there is free Wi-Fi and a plug to plug in my laptop, and it even comes with a dog named "Roxy" (I think) who has the biggest brown eyes I've ever seen, I don't want to use too many superlatives, since in my opinion, a good smog-check should be pain-free and quick and not much else. This guy was so cool. Not only did I get in and out in under 20 minutes, but he helped answer a bunch of other questions about my car. Wow, what a help! I asked him how to change my power steering and alternator belts, as it would cost a lot for a mechanic to do that. Here is what I think you'd want to know. 1. Location is not that easy to find. Behind another business, but just look for the signs. 2. Not such a nice waiting area, but I was there on a super hot day (over 100). 3. This is a family-run (including the dog) business. 4. Quick service (I'd call ahead to make sure they are not backed up). 5. Reasonable pricing (about $20.00 less than some other quotes I received). 6. like others have said, you have to work to find this place but i'm glad i did. read all the positive reviews on yelp and have brought multiple vehicles here for their smog test. was able to get in and out very quickly. customer service is very important to me and it's top notch here. the dog is a nice bonus to make the time pass more quickly. they're going to start doing oil changes and brakes so i'll know where to go when i need those done. read more

Was in and out within 30 min as there was another car ahead of mine. While my car passed, the car ahead of me did not. I have found my new mechanic by chance. He got me in for a smog check immediately and went ahead with his services though I realized I had forgotten my purse, graciously allowing me to get payment after the fact. I had just left the smog place I usually go to, feeling as if the proprietors of the place didn't value my business, and chose A1 due to it's web presence, proximity to my home, and readily available coupon. His fees are fair. Parking is plentiful, right off Chiles Rd - 80 frontage road. The wait area is cool and clean. Shop dog Roxy is adorable and friendly - though initially on the shy side. I like petting her while waiting. It calms me down and lower my blood pressure. Last week Jon took care of my Outback smog certification. I am good for another two years. My wife's Accord is next. Best Smog experience I have had. I have brought 3 cars to John's shop in the last 4 months. He is always friendly, he is quick with my cars, and the price is right.
