My iMac suddenly gave me error and restarted itself, after that it wasn't loading into my account. Was just having circle in the middle of the screen. I gave them a call and the technician was at my door in 45 minutes. He spot the problem immediately. Loaded the system with his box and showed me all of my pictures and documents on my machine. Keeping me calm all the time very professionally even when I was panicking, showed me that my data is intact but I need this hard drive replaced ASAP if I store valuable data on it. He explained me with simple words that my machine was overheating in the past years and because of the constant heat inside my hard drive start getting faulty. Actually I have my machine from 4 years constantly working and I never had it serviced I assumed being slow is normal for it. When he showed me how much dust is accumulated inside, I was shocked. He had to take it away and brought it back when it is ready. The next day morning my imac was back, nice and clean, fitted with new hard drive and new installation. The Technician attached all of the cables and spend more than hour with me, just to be sure that I'm okay with the new hard drive and setup. All of my pictures and data was on the same places. The guy did not commit himself when I asked for a price to remove a virus, he said it would be 50.00 per hour. He would not give me a top price as he said it would depend. Not much to go on. This could end up costing more than the computer?? I said I needed a price. He then said bring it in and if we cannot fix it we will reinstall the hard drive. I hate that kind of vagueness when it comes to price, you should at least commit to a no more than kind of cost. I doubt I will suggest my friend takes it here, except maybe for a solid quote and be prepared to walk away.

Well, "just in case" happened last week when the sad, little hard drive on my Macbook Air failed. Nonplussed (because I back up regularly like a good little doobie and you should, too!), I walked on over to Londonmac. There I found informative and courteous service. Turnaround was quick and since I didn't have or need an appointment for service, I was well-impressed to get a call that my computer was ready the next day. Price-wise, labour was about £65/hour and while I'm sure I paid over the odds for the replacement hard drive, it was worth it. I think I could've got the drive cheaper online, but was I really going to a) wait for it to be delivered, b) be assured that the drive was from a reputable source, and c) find someone to install it? No, on all counts, especially since the last time I tried to take apart a Mac (just for kicks) all of the teeny tiny screws just about drove me out of my teeny tiny mind! That said, I did ask about a replacement battery for another laptop and the nice woman working there did advise that I could get a cheaper, 3rd party battery online---less than anything she'd have in store. That's integrity. They had some Apple products in store, look to do a roaring trade in iPod repair, and also do data recovery. Out of warranty and lacking AppleCare, I wouldn't hesitate to entrust my Apple gadgets with Londonmac. Thanks to them, I (and my laptop) live to torment Yelp another day.
