AAA was supposed to have me on autopay because I signed up for that service. This happened 3 times where my auto insurance was cancelled for nonpayment . The agent apologized but fudged the paperwork and changed the date. I took several screenshots of our email conversation . I don't recommend AAA to anyone they use false advertising and robo and spam mailings for you to purchase unnecessary life insurance . No one is available to take a simple phone call and they are always too busy. People don't want to work nowadays and rather work from home without any accountability . LARGE insurance companies have gotten too big for their bridges and we the consumers must expose them. I recommend dealing with a smaller insurance company this way you should get more of a personal service. I have called 6 of their 1-800- numbers and still haven't been able to talk to anyone . read more

My husband and I have been with AAA auto insurance since 1974. I have/had a 2015 Jeep Cherokee only driven 49,842 mile. I had a minor finder bender back in 2/23/2024. I made a claim, but I never followed up cause it just looked like it had a dent and I never had any problems opening and closing the hood for regular maintenance such as oil changes. Back in January 2025 when is was so cold my battery died and AAA came and changed my battery. When they shut the hood they couldn't get the hood latched. I took it in to be fixed and I figured I would just use my claim. Well someone from field appraiser came out and wrote that it was a total loss. I was shocked. I disagreed and wanted some one else's opinion. But I was never allowed to have someone else look at it since it was now considered a total loss. It would always be flagged that and I had no recourse. If I bought it back it will always be red flagged as a total loss. So no collision or comprehensive insurance. All I went in was to have the hood latched shut. Now you would think since I have been a loyal customer of AAA auto insurance since, 1974. That I would at least been able to go with the field appraiser or with a new one to get a second opinion. And to show me why they think my vehicle is a total loss. But I was never offered that. I hope this will be a warning to ppl that have AAA auto insurance and for ppl thinking of getting AAA auto insurance to go somewhere else. My husband of 47 years had just died or he would have fixed the latch. I was pushed into a corner and was NEVER allowed to actually see why is was considered a total loss. On May 14, 2024, I noticed that AAA had charged $103 to my credit card without my authorization for a renewal of membership service I'd purchased a year prior. I called immediately and they agreed to refund the charge and cancel the service. But, they never did as they promised. During this call, AAA suggested I should have canceled online, but this is not possible. AAA also suggested that I could have removed my payment information online, but this was also impossible. I pay to be a member of AAA, included with my membership is towing for my car within 100 miles of breakdown to the shop of my choosing. Car broke down for an engine issue on 8/23/23. I called AAA for a tow, they dispatched a tow truck who towed my All wheel drive vehicle by the front tires only and mechanically destroyed the two rear tires, my rear differential, the transfer case and the transmission. Per AAA employees instructions to keep all my receipts, including if l needed to rent a vehicle until my car was repaired. I borrowed a vehicle as to not pay out more money. The total repairs which I had to authorize came to $23571 .56. This cost does not include the reason the car originally broke down. AAA refuses to pay the full amount, and has directed me to AAA's subcontractor T&A Towing for the balance. I do not have a membership with T&A Towing, it is AAA sub-contractor. AAA is responsible. AAA has reimbursed me $17637.96. AAA owes me the balance of $5933.60. I have provided endless amount of data showing that I followed AAA employees instructions, and followed everything AAA instructed me to do. After I had paid and authorized the repair. read more

I am soon to be a former member of AAA Auto Club. A few days ago, I received a letter from them stating that my membership would not be renewed at the end of this membership term due to a "disproportionate use of services". At the end of the letter was the tag line, with a phone number, to call with questions, which I did. The person who answered the call was informative until he got to the point of helping me personally by explaining what my disproportionate use entailed. I had used 1 out of 4, another person on the account had use 2 of 4 and the 3rd person on the account used 0 of 4. The unhelpful person on the phone explained that past years might have been taken into account in this determination but since the website only showed me this year's, I wouldn't know how many times we used them in the previous years of my membership. But here's the kicker, they won't tell you the reason they used to decide you would be chosen to have your account non-renewed!!! They made the decision that they weren't going to tell each member why they were being canceled!! I told Mr. Non-helpful they should have let off that line concerning calling with questions because they aren't going to answer questions anyway. I am disgusted with AAA... it's not like we abused the service but now it's all a secret about why I'm being randomly chosen for non-renewal. Evidently this is another of those companies that give you a false sense of security but, heaven forbid, if you actually use the service you are paying for, you will be penalized up to, and including, non-renewal of your membership. read more

AAA sells my personal information to "The Auto Club Group" but when you call and ask to OPT OUT from sharing your personal data the AAA departments (I was passed along to 4 different numbers) don't know how to OPT OUT and all agree that their website doesn't have any OPT OUT capability. So be prepared for unsolicited marketing snowstorms. Be very prepared. When you are up for renewal, you get a flyer from The Auto Group with a lot of small print and a form that you must mail in on your dime to Opt Out. It is the kind of form and process that is often overlooked. In short, their process have little concern for your data privacy. European laws are smarter in that they require you to manually OPT IN to have your data shared instead of making you mail in forms as The Auto Group requires. read more

This roadside service is a joke. Nothing is done in a timely fashion. I've had two service calls placed in less than 30 days and it has taken hours and rolled over into the next day. Both times resulting in me missing work. I contacted the better business bureau and someone did get back to me the first time and all she could offer me is $70 AAA dollars and for her to take my tow off. She told me I couldn't pay me for my days of work and that's crap. Because we pay for these services to insure we have ample time to make it where we need to be and to be safe. My wife and I were AAA members for 29 years. In 2022 on November 7 I was at the post office in Cape Canaveral Florida. When I came out with my stamps my Lincoln Continental would not start. I called AAA and the woman said "we'll be there in about an hour". That was about 4 pm. They didn't come. Finally a guy showed up but he was not knowledgeable He said "I'll call a different tow truck with different equipment". That never happened and I had to walk home at about midnight. I called many times and they lied to me over and over again. I got help the following day at about 10:30 am. He got the car running so I could drive it to the dealership. After that fiasco I dropped my AAA membership. We were loyal members from 1993 until December 2022. In May of 2023 AAA canceled my auto insurance because I criticized them and dropped them as a result of HORRIBLE service. It's supposed to be Emergency Road service. They showed up 18 hours after my emergency. BUYER BEWARE! I now have different auto insurance. read more

They should not have any stars period. My mother, aunt, and brother were coming in to town from another state to visit me in Michigan. They were 4 hours away from me and my mother's truck had a ABS Light appear. The truck would not move. My mother called AAA and they told her that her and my Dad's membership was canceled. My mother was confused because the bill is always paid for and they just received the monthly magazine. My aunt called since she has the classic membership. (I have the same membership). The first call said it would be a longer wait time then usual. When the rep came on the phone they asked the usual questions. Once my aunt told them that they were stuck in Louisville the lady said oh I need to transfer you to the Kentucky line. Once transferred it said main menu so my aunt had to start back over. Once a rep picked up the 2nd time, same procedure of questions and once again my aunt said we are stuck in Louisville and the rep said let me transfer you to the Kentucky Line. We were just transferred SMH. The 3rd and final attempt another rep came on the phone and my Aunt instantly said we are stuck in Louisville. Again, the rep said the same thing, "Let me transfer you to the Kentucky Line". My aunt said we were given the run around and the rep reassured that she will transfer them to the proper state and she will stay on the line. As soon as the dial tone came up a recorded message said we are currently closed. LOL. You mean to tell me that a 24 hour so-called service is closed. This company is indeed, "Absent, Aggravating, Abandoners (AAA)". Also, the website to request for assistance was malfunctioning. Looks like the IT team needs to work on the issues on their end. Thankfully, my family called a tow truck close by and received service. AAA needs to do right or they will get left (customers leaving). read more

Waited 3 hours (11pm to 2 am) to have a car with faulty brakes towed to a shop 2 miles away. We ended up driving the car very slowly at 2 am to get to the shop. AAA and McDonald's towing in Kalamazoo will need to improve their service. read more

I called AAA under their poor membership service to have a flat tire changed in Plymouth, Michigan. Sat in a parking lot waiting the 2 hour time they gave me. After two hours I called the roadside assistance back and was told another 45 minutes. They only use one towing service for that area, Westland Car Care. Called back after 3 1/2 hours and was told another 45 minutes! Finally called an independent company as it was now nighttime and they arrived in 10 minutes and I paid out of pocket to have the tire changed. AAA needs to improve their towing services. I am a former customer of the AAA Auto Club Group. I recently relocated from NC to AR. In that move I transferred my daughter to her own NC AAA auto policy and setup an AR AAA auto policy for my wife and I. When I canceled my NC AAA policy, NC AAA was supposed to refund me more than $1100. It has now been 3 months since the refund was supposedly processed and I have not received it. I have spoken with several people at NC AAA about my situation and am astonished at the poor customer service up to and including management. Initially I thought this situation was due to a poorly implemented refund process and/or an antiquated financial system. But after exchanging a couple of email messages with my NC AAA agent's manager, Andrew Diebert, it turns out the problem is a management problem. How does this happen, isn't this brought up in a management meeting, is the manager asking his reports if they are having any problems. Can any company justify a refund taking 3 months? Keep in mind, that I have literally contacted my NC agent a dozen times by voice and email only to find out the last attempt at generating my refund, last week, was thwarted by a senior level accountant who forgot to hit the process button after entering all refund information. I was told, "Hopefully you'll receive it next week". Any normal person would be a little upset about this. I've been very patient up to this point. The NC AAA agent doesn't seem to have any control over the situation, so I attempted to contact the agent's manager to complain, which is listed on the bottom of every AAA agent's email. I asked that manager to give me a call. Of course, he didn't, he was too busy to speak with a AAA customer... he was unavailable. And it didn't cross his mind to give me a call at the end of his day. He responded to my email with the I'm sorry, "all is okay" message indicating everything is on track ignoring my request. So I asked Andrew if he would provide me with his manager's contact information on three maybe more occasions. I got the please call me, it's handled let me know if there is something I don't know about, the buck stops with me... so basically go pound sand. Unlike AAA agents, AAA managers don't provide their contact information in their email; maybe that should be a new policy at AAA... I bet that would be an initiative for managers to provide better customer service. If you become a member of AAA The Auto Club Group, this is the company culture you may have to deal with. I've reached out to the AAA The Club Group's CEO, Joseph Richardson, to make him aware of this situation. Once I'm able to speak with him, I'll update this post. ------ UPDATE DEC 17, 2021 ----- I still have not received a refund. I've had AAA RV Gold roadside assistance for the past year. On Oct 1st my fuel pump went out on my motor home, I called AAA for a tow to the shop, I requested a FLATBED because my motor home is an antique collectors item, it took 6 hours for them to show up with the wrong truck, they sent a wrecker with a winch being driven by an overtired driver who admitted he had already been working 17hours, I told him to be very careful because this was supposed to be on a FLATBED, and he lifted my motor home one side at a time repeatedly lifting and lowering one side at a time adjusting it, twisting and breaking the frame, and completely totalled my RV. Now, they're trying to fight me about the claim because the driver doesn't want to take responsibility for the $12,650 damage he did. I've also been on the receiving end of the worst customer service imaginable, ranging from incapable to downright rude, I've requested to speak with supervisors and repeatedly been told they're unavailable and they refuse to give me the supervisors names and numbers to contact them directly. This situation has cost me not just the motor home I bought to live in because I travel for work, but also cost me the income from work out of state which I was supposed to leave for the first week of October, and left me stranded in Michigan while they drag their feet fighting me about paying for what they did when they're one of the biggest insurance companies in existence and should have had it handled within days. They seem to have forgotten that as a member paying for their services, they work for me, their job is to represent me, not the faulty towing companies they collaborate with. read more

Since I don't drive more than a few miles away from my home almost never do I go farther. It's probably a good idea I not change a thing... Well with an acceptation that is. I have been contemplating changing over to another insurance. Since I have been with AAA, as you see I have had so many issues with the help line, customer services, online and the payments seem to only rise each time I get my new membership renewed...Sometimes the stuff at your customer services have been mean, rude and even hanged up on me because I asked a number of times for them to slow down with thier speech or to speak clearly, maybe I didn't understand something and some young punk decided he didn't have time to go slow. My monthly dues have always!!!! Arrived late! Because there is no way to "fix that" however there never seems to be a problem with the rude reminders that here will be a brake in service if I do not pay on a timely manner! I have never missed a payment but you have always made it clear that never matters to you. Being on a fixed income really makes it difficult to keep up, and with AAA's constant reminders its less than a good feeling! Oh, by the way, likely if I'm a passenger in another's car? They likely have insurance far greater than I can afford, I don't need to be towed ever more than what I pay for and, my rates go up regardless that I choose to upgrade, Yes, Thank you so much for reminding me of just what I do have, To think that all this time I was thinking you guys "AAA" were keeping me safe and secure with my vehicle that is.. At first, I was all puppy dogs and ice cream cones in love with AAA. When I first switched over to AAA insurance a number of years ago, their prices were significantly lower to what I was paying beforehand. And then a few years passed by, along with a significant few price increases. So finally, I said that I was done! I decided to call Flo instead (and ended up with some amazing savings!). It turns out that AAA oversold me insurance...shame on me on not figuring it out. So that brings me to today, where I call to cancel my policy and stop the automatic EBT of funds. Policy cancelled. Check! Stop the EBT. Emmm, what?!!? YOU can't stop the EBT in time? So you are holding on to my $300 for up to 20 business days?!?! For a cancelled policy? Shut the front door! So now to get a timely refund of money that was never rightfully theirs, I have to schlep to my bank, get an official letter showing that the EBT went through so as to to get it reversed. AAA, you suck! Just for that, I feel like going to pick up maps of all 50 states and throwing them out right after I walk out of the AAA office. Insurance much too expensive; if you comment on price, they will blame the Michigan No-Fault Act to try to get you to increase their profits by urging you to write to your state representatives to repeal the Act which (properly) protects injured drivers. 2. Inept service to existing customers. Attempted to procure insurance for vacant land, additional to home and car, and was told that AAA does not insure vacant land, but their "sister" company Foremost does. Was transferred to Foremost, sat on hold for 20 minutes, then was told that Foremost does not insure vacant land. 3. If your credit rating has improved during the insured period for either car of home, you can ask them to re-figure your insurance rates. However, before they'll check, they'll do a bogus "bogeyman" warning that if they check your credit and other "applicable factors" (whatever that means) your rates could go up. This is done clearly because they hate it when they have to lower your rates when your credit rating improves. read more

I called this local office to ask for an agent to help me with a very minor insurance change (changing the level of coverage on one of my vehicles) and was told to call the 1800 number to make changes to my policy. After being with AAA for several years and having no claims and being a dedicated customer, I cant event get someone to help me with a minor issue related to my policy? When I called the 1800 number I was told that it would take 24 hours for an agent to call me back. Unreal. I waited 96 hr. and never received a call back. I would hate to be in a situation where I needed help with an important insurance issue and couldn't speak with anyone to resolve it. Stay away from this place! read more

Horrible!! I will be canceling my AAA insurance as soon as this ordeal is over. I hit a deer over the weekend and immediately contacted AAA. I brought my car to an autobody shop where they told me my car was totaled and they would be in contact with my insurance to start the process. NOBODY from AAA has called me or gotten back to my body shop. I have no vehicle and don't know if I can start looking for a new car. My car broke down in another city about 3 hours away from home, so I called AAA for a tow. They told me that the nearest garage that was open on a Sunday was 13 miles away and that there would be a surcharge because of the distance. I agreed to this because I was told the garage was open. But when I got there, it turned out that only the oil change mechanic was on duty. There was no one there who could actually look at my car that day. The only reason I chose to have the car towed 13 miles to that particular station was because I was led to believe I might get my car at least looked at that same day. I don't think that was an unreasonable assumption on my part. If it turned out there was no garage open, I would have understood and accepted it. But I ended up wasting a good part of the day and $40 because of this. I will not be renewing my AAA membership next year. My insurance went up $800.00 in 1 year! perfect driving record and no claims also been insured with them for over 20 years. credit score good but my age is a factor now!. They kept telling me don't get in an accident or your insurance will go up. So I got a ticket first one since the 70's and I had to fight it because they said my insurance go up. This was straight from my agent on Wayne rd in Westland. He wrote my policy for a year at a time. so he could save me $200.00 a year by writing it for 6 months and he said no one would write a 1 year police. He also said that if I had an accident on a 6 month policy that my rates would go up. Ok so I called this AAA here in Dearborn and I spoke to a supervisor and she told me I had accident forgiveness. I begin service with AAA on June 14th paying 86.88 for my first monthly bill. I change my address July 5th, resulting in a policy increase of $794.35 ($219.33/month) for limited liability auto insurance. Naturally, I was appalled and chose to shop around for a lower quote. I found one (actually, I found several) and cancelled my policy 6 days later on the 11th, stopping EFT payments. AAA still charged my account $86.84 5 days later for the month of 7/14 - 8/14. I spent ALL DAY on the phone with both customer service reps as well as their superiors only to be told I was not being reimbursed, and that I also owed $376.79. Mind you, there are no cancellation fees, and they can't legally charge me for any days I wasn't covered under one of their policies. So somehow, they claim it is absolutely reasonable for them to charge me a whopping total of $550.51 for 28 days of PLPD on a 2005 Saturn Ion. This resulted in me having to contact the highest Authority in their customer relations unit of corporate here in Michigan, which can only be contacted via email. God forbid I was an elderly individual who did not have access to or knowledge of the internet. They do not deserve 1 star. Jesus, be an asteroid. -_- read more

AAA is the worst insurance carrier out there. Awful customer service, doesn't resolve problems and simply does not care about their customers. They use horrible towing companies (Neuners). We called at 8:30 in the morning to get our car towed. When calling Neuners to check the status 8 hours later, we were informed that there was a 10 mile limit on towing in our case it was 12 miles to our dealer, however, they never told us this. When we called AAA to resolve this issue, they provided no help or resolution to our problem. We ended up having to schedule a tow on our own. We are cancelling our USELESS AAA membership today!. I called last night at 10 p.m to get a tow after hitting a pothole bending my rim & getting a flat I was told someone who be to me by 1 a.m I asked if someone could come sooner because I wasn't at my home & didn't feel safe where I was at and I was told no I waited a few hours then finally called for a ride to come get me & take me to the safety of my home I decided to go back to the street I left my car on this morning to see if I could get a tow today at 9 a.m my first eta was 11 a.m then it changed to 12:16 at which point I called and asked if they could come sooner because I had my 5 year old & 3 month old with me & it's not only cold out but again it's not a totally safe location I was told I couldn't get anyone sooner so I googled tow companies & found one covered by AAA he told me he could come to me in 10 mins but I first had to call AAA & tell them to dispatch him to me when I called AAA they said ' I was not allowed to do that & must continue waiting' by this time it was 1210 so I checked to see if and when the tow truck AAA sent would be coming and it still said 'dispatch' like it did when I first called so I called them back and asked if he was on his way only to be told ' yes he will be there in the next 15 mins' I waited checked the location of the truck again online just to see my time had been moved back once again to 140 p.m at this point I'm annoyed upset and fuming so I called aaa once again just to be told that he would be 'en route shortly' I've been sitting out in the cold with a 3 month old and 5 year old since 9 a.m angry I go to Goodyear and ask if anyone would be able to tow my car for me and even with 8 guest in the lobby area the guy not only said yes he could he took my keys right then and there and went to get the tow truck so he could drop my car off at the dealership it makes no sense that I pay AAA for a service and they couldn't even do their job but I went to another company and not only did they help me but they did more for me then my own company has I've been a member of AAA SINCE 2009 I will tell everyone about the bad service I've had and tell them not to use AAA I'm also gonna make a yelp account just so I can leave this same review the service was beyond poor and it's clear that AAA DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THIER CUSTOMERS SO THEREFORE I DONT CARE TO USE MY MONEY ON THEM ANYMORE IF YOUR IN AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT NOT ONLY WILL THEY NOT FEEL YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO HELP BUT THEY WILL ALSO PUSH BACK YOUR TOWTRUCK ARRIVAL TIME USE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE I KNOW I WILL read more
