As all the most recent reviews have said, the AAA Roadside Assistance in the Tampa Bay area has become abysmal. I got a flat tire the other night at the intersection of Dale Mabry and MLK, but fortunately was able to pull into a deserted parking lot just past the intersection. I called AAA, since I've been a member since 2014, at 5:01 PM. No problem - they said - you'll hear from dispatch. I get a text message saying a truck will be there at 5:31 PM. Perfect. But 5:31 PM comes and goes, and then I get an automated message saying the new time is 6:50 PM. What the living ??? I call in, say that's not acceptable since I'm not in the greatest of areas, and now it's completely dark outside, and they say they'll try to find other options. But I never hear back. And 6:50 PM goes and goes, so I call AGAIN, and am told by dispatch now the company they hired to do the job, Pete's something, is not answering their phone. Are you kidding me? I go ahead and make alternate arrangements to pay out of pocket, when finally I hear from a different AAA company that they'll be there in 45 minutes. Fabulous. The guy that came out spoke zero English, did not have the right size tire iron to undo the bolts holding the tire on, and had no air pump to fill the donut, but at least he got the donut on and I could get home. Over 3 hours after I initially placed my service call. AAA won't let you cancel your membership, but you have my personal guarantee that as of next August, I am DONE with their nonsense. Their prices are insane and I don't know what math they are using to compute taxes. They said my total for the diagnostic would be $75+tax and the total came to $87.48. The $75 to do a pressure test and block test wasn't the issue, it was that they wanted to charge me $575 to replace the thermostat ($32 part), do a coolant flush (not needed as this was literally just done), and do another pressure test (they found no leaks with the first one). My son can replace the thermostat for free. AAA is supposed to SAVE me money; what a crock. I have a shop here Heydukes, that is always fair. If it isn't the thermostat, that is where I'll take my Jeep!! read more

My daughter hit a pothole in a downpour and ripped the underside of her bumper. Her car wasn't drivable so we called triple A. We got a live person within minutes and they pulled up her account even though we didn't have her member number. The tow truck arrived in about 1.5 hours, giving text updates along the way. They towed to this location on N Westshore Blvd. The next day she had to bring her key in (don't forget to give your key to the tow driver!). The tech looked at her car within minutes and saw it was just cosmetic and removed the piece that was dragging. In addition, he filled a tire that had been low, unrelated. All within minutes and at no cost! Thank you AAA for the great service! read more

I absolutely loved the service from AAA AAA auto care Center on Westshore Blvd., Tampa. The gentleman by the name of Dan and the gentleman that took care of my car were excellent! I even got a much better price than other places. They did a great job and they kept me updated on my car. I will never go back to a dealership or any other place. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! If you want to be lied to, overcharged then take the risk. But I am speaking from experience I towed my car there after AAA recommended this shop, which by far was the worst decision. Very disappointed that AAA would even recommend these thief's and dishonest business. They will try to charge you to replace things that are not even wrong with your car. They will overcharge you thousands for something that other shops estimates to only cost hundreds. PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME , AND MONEY. This shop needs to be closed down immediately please stop taking advantage of the people in our community. read more

my wife's car died today at the USF campus exit on Fowler Ave and Lee Roy Collins Blvd at the traffic light in a very busy intersection. I called AAA and requested a tow to our trusted ASE certified shop 15 miles away. The Rep refused to order the tow unless it was 10 miles or less "due to the hurricane" which passed 100 miles West of Tampa last Thursday. After going up the ladder a AAA "customer relations" person agreed to the tow with a 3 hour ETA! We ended up paying $130 out of our own pocket for a tow truck that got her out of danger within 25 minutes. So much for the usefulness of our AAA Premier membership. It's not worth the plastic in their card. read more

I love AAA! This location on WestShore is convenient and offers a wide variety of discounted travel, insurance, notary, passport photos, theme park tickets, gift cards, and automotive services. I often purchase gift cards for my nephews here as I earn AAA dollars which brings down my annual membership cost. The automotive department employees were friendly and the work they did seemed reasonably priced. The staff at the front desk handle my requests for notary services quickly. The facility is fairly new and is well maintained. The parking lot can be crowded but there are lots of parking spots along the length of the building. read more

The AAA towing service is Tampa, FL is HORRIBLE! How does one ask for a tow at 0623 5-7-23 and send a battery tech? They send these emails with no eta no service, just we are back up. I had to go to work at 0000 5-8-23..now they offer unattended after being out here for 3 1/2 hours. I called for an update at 0213 and because its unattended, they deescalated my tow?!!!! Now, she (Ceezanne) said I could have gotten my own tow company and they would refund my money I paid. That's real convenient 8 hours after the fact. I have been a customer since 2012 and their service is at the bottom of the barrel for customer service, I will not renew with them! It is 0613 and I have no update of my car being towed. I go to the DMV a lot since I'm constantly buying and selling vehicles and this location is my favorite. Unfortunately today they gave me the worst experience. I'm transferring a title from out of state and they had to check the vin on my truck to make sure it was accurate. The vin was visible to anyone except the officer they had there that checked it. I made her look at it twice because I say all the accurate figures but she refused to agree even though the numbers on the door matched too. She decided I had to go get the truck inspected now, taking hours out of my busy work week and holiday celebrations to get my vehicle switched over when any other dmv would've done it seamlessly. Been a faithful member for 20 years. finally required their services when car broke down in the middle of an off ramp during rush hour in Orlando FL traffic. Notified them we were in a dangerous situation. They promised to prioritize for this reason. That was 4:11pm. By 7:10pm, after numerous increasingly panicked phone calls,(they assured us they were 7 minutes away), we gave up and called a local service who were fabulous. 7:12 AAA tow truck called saying they "just got the call and could be there in 40 minutes". The police officer who stopped to help us asked us if we had AAA. he informed us that he encounters many people who fall for their roadside assistance scam and are stuck waiting for hours and hours, often in dangerous situations. I will echo his sound advice....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY read more

Not sure if this is the right office or if it is another one, but here goes my complaint. On Saturday night,June24, at 8:30 our friends( 85 years old) called from Livingston and Sunset in Lutz that their car broke down, oil line broke and oil ran out. They called Triple A for a tow. It seems that they could not find a driver. We waited with them until 12:30 AM and gave up. The Citgo station closed at 10 PM. When we tried to call the message said to use internet to place order if not getting help. Eventually we got a person on the phone after a 45 minute wait and was told there were no drivers, but would try to push them up in the queue when I told the lady their age.At 10 AM they got a text asking if they still needed a tow. Eventually they did get a tow on Monday, June 26. This is totally unsatisfactory service. I dk what would have happened if we had not been able to be there with them. Not only was the service unsatisfactory but my friends were left in a dangerous situation, alone. read more

Absolutey useless, DO NOT JOIN AA AUTO CLUB SOUTH! Member over 30 years. In the beginning they were great. Now they have cut what they pay the providers, the providers wont take customers anymore, they keep singing on new members, but their provider network has shrunk. In the last 5 years, I have called for service 4 times only 1 time did the service provider show up within an hour. The others were 3 8 and as of today I made the call at 12 its past 4 I need a new freaking battery. I will ask for my membership money back. This Club is USELESS read more

Not sure why everyone hates on AAA so much. I don't use them for much. I've belonged ever since I became an adult (had a membership through my parents before that). I have used them for flat tires, dead batteries, and the rare tow. I think the membership for that alone is worth it! I came to this location for passport photos. It turns out that as a gold member, I get two sets of passport photos for free each year! I wish I knew this back in the day when various applications and visas required physical passport photos. I arrived around 9AM on a Thursday. There was pretty much no one there. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Great service! I think if I needed any other service, it'd be the same way this early as the parking lot was almost empty. I guess it must get pretty busy in the afternoon and on the weekends though. read more

I had to go to the Tax Collector office located in the AAA building. The best experience and it is not crowded at all, this is my second time visiting and gotten In and out quickly. Very friendly staff. It's worth the drive. read more

I had nothing but a pleasant experience the whole time I was there. I had taken the day off yesterday to get my car fixed and was prepared to wait in 'car repair' lobby for most of the day. Not only was the lobby clean, bright & airy, it also had 2 TV's, 5 Wi-Fi stations, hot coffee & cold water. I believe 'Joey' checked on me at least twice before he told me my car was finished. Here's the part that made my week... My car repair ended up costing much less than I was prepared for, so I was able to also purchase a new set of window wipers, front & back! (new wipers are always a luxury! lol) And in addition, they were finished with my car before lunch, so I was able to shop at the Westshore Mall before I picked up my husband yesterday evening. Over all, I had a great experience & I'm sure I'll see them again! read more

Came in for my IDP and was greeted quickly and helped immediately. I was impressed by the variety of services offered at this location. The only negative feedback that I might offer is the appearance of the exterior/rear of the building which had burned out car chassis and broken safety glass on the ground in various areas of the lot. (I presume insurance claims under investigation/held) but very nice staff inside. read more

We called AAA at 7:20 pm and they said they would be out in 60 minutes. We got two calls that they were running behind. Three hours later we went home. We finally got a call at 4am that someone was at our car. This is so absolutely ridiculous!! Do they really expect you to wait for 9 hours? What are we paying for and why don't they have a person letting you know that they won't be able to have someone help you in an appropriate time? They need to be put out of business! Do not even pay for this NON SERVICE!!! It is the most disservice I have ever experienced. It's not safe. What if this was your child waiting on them for help? read more

My husband and I recently purchased my father-in-law's car and I needed to switch the tag and title over to my name. I was a bit hesitant to visit this tax collector's location because they don't offer appointments, but the location was very convenient to my office and I really didn't want to go to the DMV. When I arrived at the AAA I realized that the tax collector's office was just a tiny room in the back. (Which makes sense why they don't take appointments... you don't need an appointment!) I took my number and grabbed a chair. Since there were five windows, the line went by super quickly. Twenty minutes later my number was called. Unfortunately, I was missing one of the necessary documents to transfer my title, but the lady who assisted me at the counter could not have been more nice or helpful. She told me what to bring on my next visit and printed a copy of a document that I would need to add my husband to the title. She also verified my VIN # and mileage so we wouldn't have to complete that step on my next visit. I was dreading this visit, but it was actually quite pleasant! read more

I had an appointment at 8:00 am this morning with AAA at Westshore location in Tampa and I am so pleased with the entire experience. I was greeted immediately upon arrival by an associate that indicated he would be with me in a minute and was. Josh was my representative who was friendly and courteous. He also explained the safety precautions they are taking for the customers as well as the staff. The work was completed promptly and to my satisfaction. I had previously been to this location for a different service and the representatives are extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and the work was completed in the estimated time and correctly. It's great to find a clean and honest business that you can depend on. Thank you and a special Thank You to Josh for having such a warm friendly smile so early on a Saturday Morning. read more

This place is awesome, aside from it being brand new you can now get all your car maintenance done since AAA has added a full service automotive repair shop!!!! The guys at the Service counter are super friendly and go out of their way to help! Huge waiting room with comfortable chairs and they even have FREE refreshments and 4 complimentary computer work stations!!!!! I brought my Pruis into AAA Service for annual maintenance checks on May 12, picked it up May 13. Drove it around that day, ran several errands then parked it for two days. On May 15 battery was dead. AAA jumped it, I drove that day and the next two days then parked for 6 days. Saturday morning (May 23) battery was dead. I realized AAA service would be closed for the holiday so waited until Tuesday morning to "request" appointment online. The earliest day available was the next day (Wednesday) which was OK with me as I could use my husband's car. I explained (in their message box) my battery is experiencing as slow drain since I had it in for service and asked to bring it in to have it checked. I didn't hear back all day so I called this morning and spoke with service rep Josh. I explained the issue to him and he says my battery is in the end of it's life. I said that's not true as I've never had issues with my battery before bringing it in to AAA...it obviously has a slow drain and I would like to bring it in to find the source. Last year I left my car unused for two months twice (while traveling) and it started right up when we returned. I also explained that the battery was checked by his personnel when I brought it in on the 12th and it was fine. So he tells me the earliest appointment he has is 5 days away. I DO NOT recommend AAA except for towing services. I will NEVER buy a battery from them again. I have a warranty on my car battery that AAA refuses to honor. The battery was purchased and installed by Pete's Battery Service through AAA in Tampa on 3/22/23 and my mechanic has informed me that the battery is not working properly and is defective. AAA has provided me poor customer service yesterday and in August 2023 when they suggested I try their repair on Westshore Blvd. only to learn that they don't do any electrical work on cars. Then I wasted another two hours that day having to wait for another tow truck to take me to another mechanic. Very bad customer service from AAA and their subcontr wouldn't even let me ride in the tow truck when he towed my car back to my house. I had to take the bus back although he was taking my car directly to my house. Just another example of the terrible service I have received from AAA. My service rating to them is a low 1.5 out of 10. read more

So... Ironically I'm actually reviewing the auto renewal that is in the back of the building. It has always been a quick and easy experience when I go to renew my tag. I think it's all about timing. They are very courteous and helpful. As for the AAA office itself. It is a huge building. There are luggage a for sale and cubicles for agents. The people that work the front desk aren't very nice but that is probably because they know 90% of the ppl are there for the auto department. I am a member of AAA so when I finally have free time to visit the office I'll update this review. read more

I went in for an oil change and free tire rotation in December. For a month or so afterwards I was smelling what I thought was gas. Finally found out they had not put the dipstick back in!! It was lying across the front of the engine. So, oil had been spewing out causing the smell. They also told me they couldn't rotate the tires because they couldn't get the lug nuts off. I just took it somewhere else today and they had no problem with the lug nuts whatsoever. Will NEVER use AAA car care center again. read more

Requested roadside assistance via the AAA app which indicated that someone would arrive in about an hour to provide a jump start. About 50 minutes later After noting that they were not on their way I called AAA and waited about 10 minutes on hold to then be told that Automotive Towing was coming out in about 20 minutes and then was immediately told that no one was available to come out to give me jump start and the reason was that they simply had no one that could come out. In over 20 years of being a AAA member I have never been treated like this - shame in them! read more

Being a long time AAA Member I'm glad to see I now have a car care center here in Tampa I stopped in because it was time for a oil change I was greeted by dan who helped me out. I just recently switched my auto insurance to AAA because it was such a great deal I couldn't pass on. I'm now making travel plans with reggine for a Paris trip she was very knowledgeable and gave me tour information. The service today was outstanding and the facilities is gorgeous. AAA westshore is too busy that they can't handle appointment scheduling properly. I called in to bring my car in for an oil change a couple days ahead of time. Asked if I can bring it in first thing Saturday. They said sure just bring it in. I asked if I needed an appointment or they needed to take my name down and they said no bring it at 8 and we can probably have you done by 10 am. Get there Saturday morning and they say it probably won't be done until late in the afternoon. Close to 4 pm. Who schedules like that? Won't be going back here. read more

DO NOT BUY THE AAA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I trusted AAA and they are a miserable organization, my wife and I spent four hours alongside HWY 75 in Florida on the way back to Punta Gorda Florida, my car had run out of gas it was 90 degrees and 100% humidity and the mosquitoes were biting, but I couldn't stay in the car because no gas no air conditioning. AAA recommended I call the Florida Road Rangers (they stop helping at 9PM it was 9:30 PM. Then they recommended that I call the Florida Highway Patrol, The rude Highway Patrolman informed me that they did not help people that ran out of gas. He then said I'll help you but I don't have to. I called the local AAA office the next day and talked to a man who sent me a Card to buy $30 worth of gas, and that was it. Both my wife and had to go the Doctor and had to take steroids for the Mosquito Bites, 40 or 50 Mosquito bites really itch. read more
