Brought my mother-in-law's vehicle in and let technician know about very noticeable shuddering between gears. Holding themselves out as transmission experts, they sold her some $600+ repair. The problem was not fixed, as the shuddering continued in the days and weeks after our visit. We then brought it to two other repair shops, a statewide chain and the dealership, and after inspecting it, they both indicated there was a major transmission issue and it would likely need to be replaced. These other shops didn't try to sell us work, and didn't charge us anything, but simply used their expertise to give us an honest assessment. How refreshing. We concluded that we should just get rid of the vehicle, as a new transmission would be about $10k (based on two estimates). Therefore, the $600 we spent with AAA on the transmission a few weeks prior really was throwing good money at bad. I came back to the AAA shop for some form of consideration for this wasted money, and all the manager kept telling me is that they fixed "a" problem that existed on the vehicle, so I got something for my money, and they were off the hook. I was given a free oil change card, which seemed more like a directive to go away. I also contacted AAA corporate office about the issue, and they told me to pound sand with some templated email about the decision being "final" (despite there never being any back-and-forth on it between us). Sounds like they are proud of their sales-oriented culture. I expected more from this company, both at the shop and from their corporate response. The bottom line: AAA is a good place for an oil change at a good price (and I may return for that service), but I wouldn't trust them with anything complex. I walked into the AAA-Pineville at 10403 Park Road on Friday because I could not get my 2020 Versa started, I began to panic as I was at work and did not know what to do. I walked over to the above mentioned business and asked for help. After explaining what I was seeing on my dashboard, one of which my car key was not being detected, I was given a battery for my Fob-Key that was the personal property of the manager and the good man did not take money from me. He changed the battery for me and told me to try it and if that did not work to come back. It did not work, and I came back to AAA. Again the manager drove me to where my car was and checked it for me. He said it looked like my car battery and went ahead and jumped started my car and it started. I was so happy. SAM the Manager told me to drive the car over to his AAA location and replaced my battery. I did not have to wait for which I was grateful . I am a Healthcare worker and was on my lunch break. In about 10 mins my battery was replaced and I paid for my battery and was able to get back to work on time and very happy. Sam went above and beyond his call of duty for which I am grateful. Very good service this morning for the state inspection on my wife's car. I was able to book an appointment online and when I arrived, I was seen at the time of my appointment. The service manager who helped me was very polite and helpful. I think they did a good job, especially considering that there is very little profit for them for one of these. The waiting room was okay with chairs, coffee and a television. Free wifi worked well, but a table where I could put my laptop would have been a nice bonus. read more

I have been going to AAA-Pineville for several years now. Andy, Rich, & Andrew cover the front of car care center and they are amazing. They are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, trustworthworthy, and up front. They always shoot me straight and I love that. They also properly manage expectations and often over-deliver which I also love. They will never advise me to get something repaired or replaced unless I absolutely need it either immediately or in the near future. Their prices are VERY reasonable too. And Terrance in the back? I am a AAA member and have been going here for years. The experience this time was not what I've come to expect. I scheduled an oil change, weeks in advance, because the on-line system wouldn't let me schedule for over 10-days out. When they finally unlocked the door to let me in after seeing me standing in the cold for 5 minutes, I was informed that the oil change rates went up today. Then, they of course, tried to sell me an air filter and brake fluid, which I refused. When it came time to pay, the guy told me they no longer give AAA discounts to members for oil changes. I paid almost double what my wife paid last week at the Mazda dealership. They weren't mean or anything, just not very friendly or customer-centric. I will probably not go back, and am considering giving up my AAA membership. read more

Car started having misfiring in cylinders 1 and 4. The staff correctly diagnosed it as an ignition coil problem. An expensive fix but the correct diagnosis. Randall pulled strings and got the parts there quickly and Collin stayed over to get it installed before the weekend on a Friday at 5pm when he needed to be somewhere else. Can't ask for better service. They're not the cheapest place but they didn't play games and they were very friendly. I would be comfortable coming back for service if I needed it. PS... Hey guys, can you fix the volume issue on the TV in the waiting room? It keeps going in and out. And I'm with Bruce, a little "work" area would be helpful. sent my 22 y.o. daughter in with a check engine light that she already new was the thermostat. They ended up charging her 768.53 to repair the issue. I thought I could trust a AAA garage, I couldn't have been more mistaken. I went to our shop in Chicago Suburbs to verify she hadn't been taken advantage of and unfortunately I was right. Chicago shop estimated 252.85. I called to talk with the manager to try and better understand the amount billed and he didn't feel that the bill was out of line. I will not use this repair center again and seriously caution you to think twice before using it. I liked them as soon as I walked in. Friendly, attentive, quick yet quality service. I needed a new engine air filter. Not only did someone show me my filter (proving that yes, it's definitely time for a new one) but they gave me the time frame it would take to have my specific filter delivered & how long it would take to replace it. I enjoyed the fact that while I was in the waiting room I could see into the shop. The bathroom was so clean, the WiFi worked well, and the waiting area was spacious and comfortable. I went for an oil change and tire rotation.and I had low pressure in 1 tire. originally appt was supposed to be an hour. After 1.5 hrs, they told me that couldn't fix the tire because it had an old patch and suggested I take it to another garage. They hadn't even started the oil change! You would expect that they would have done that, knowing that was what the appt was for in the first place! So I had to wait another 30 minutes for them to actually service the car. Took it to another place, they couldn't get the tire to leak, there was nothing wrong with it, and said it had probably just been the change to cooler weather. So AAA hadn't even done anything other than snub their nose at the fact that there was a plug in the tire. and wasted the whole time i'd been waiting when they could have serviced it in 30 minutes from the beginning. bad service. same type of situation happened the first time I went there. I took my car in for an oil change for the first time. The guy that checked me in was very nice and professional. I requested that my car be protected with plastic since it was light carpet and upholstery. He assured me that would. When I got my car back, the carpet had grease footprints all over it. He was apologetic and did clean it but it was another 10 minutes or so for him to do that. This shouldn't have happened at all. Not pleased about that at all. read more

I went to the Pineville store today for an oil change. This store has AAA Digital Vehicle Insight (DVI). This is where the Technician that services my truck takes pictures of my truck work that needs to be done. Then he sends the pictures to my email address and my cell phone as a text link. These pictures are live right at the moment the Technician sees the work to be done. I get to see what he sees in the waiting area of the store on my cell phone or while I am out away from the store on my cell phone. I like this new feature in the store. I will add one thing into this I found out about this by looking through the AAA Mecklenburg GO Magazine March-April issue. When I called the call center phone to ask about this technology the gentleman that I spoke to didn't know anything at all about this technology. He had to transfer me to the Pineville store where I got to talk to Rich Rumreich about this new technology before I went in for my oil change today. With this new technology I think that AAA needs to start doing an email style survey after every visit to a AAA store or after every Roadside Assistance visit. I also think that the call centers need to be more knowledgeable of the products and services that AAA offers on all levels. I was a little taken back by finding out someone didn't know what I was talking about and they work for AAA. Also I called the AAA Head Quarters for the Carolinas-Meclenburg area I found out that they do very few random surveys because there are at least 2 million Carolinians that trust AAA but also there are more people than that that trust AAA. I think that it would help sales to improve if the system was updated so the survey is for every visit and if the call centers were more knowledgeable. AAA has a main website plus an android app. Put the survey information in those 2 areas as well. I have been with AAA since 2007. My Sister-in-Law Patti who lives out in Houston,Texas got me into AAA because I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck. read more

Wish I could award more stars. Great experience. Had an estimate at another auto repair service - one I have used for several years, but recently ownership changed and things weren't going well. Felt bad for them, but still felt to look around and try to find a new auto service center. I hit the jackpot with AAA Carolinas. They were a little too efficient:) if that is possible. Wisked me in and out in just a few. I only needed a headlight replaced. The price was less than a third of the previous estimate. Typically not the type of person to write reviews, but I have to give a quick shoutout to Andrew for saving my day. After experiencing a whole bunch of issues with my car I ended up at AAA. I could tell that the shop was pretty busy as I was walking in and didn't think anyone was going to be able to look at my car until Monday, which at this point was not an option since I had to travel out of state for work the following week. When I walked in I was greeted by Andrew, I explained my situation and he said he would take care of me. At first I was hesitant since I have heard this numerous times at different shops. Andrew took the car in and told me he would call me with an update within the hour and sure enough an hour later I received the call. Andrew explained in detail what was going on with my car. I agreed with all of the repairs and asked for Andrew to keep me posted on the status. Andrew gave me multiple updates, and when I returned my car was ready to go. I really appreciate his willingness to help, knowledge and extreme professionalism. After this experience it will be a no brainer to come back in the future. If you enjoy watching your car sit in the lot 40 minutes after your appointment time, and being quoted $30 more than the last garage you went to for the same service, this is the place for you!!! Now, the people who work there are very nice. Extremely pleasant. The waiting room is clean and comfy. But when you have one mechanic working and multiple people scheduled at 9:00, it doesn't matter if Mother Teresa is doing the paperwork. Things are going to go badly. At a very slow pace. I ended up leaving without having any service done. It was going to be a full hour past my appointment before they even started on my vehicle and it just put too much fire in my belly to deal with. Sorry, AAA, love you for roadside emergencies but the car care experience was horrid! I will stick with Goodyear from now on. read more

I called and scheduled my appointment. Upon arrival, I was told it would take about 2 hours. I was given a shuttle ride home and right at 2 hours I received a call that my car was ready. Within 15 to 20 minutes the shuttle service was at my door ready to take me to pick up my car. Andrew remembered me from when I was in a couple of months ago. He had recommended me to a local radio repair shop for a satellite radio issue and he wanted to know how that worked out. Last week my son asked me to take his car to get serviced at AAA in Pineville, something I was not looking forward to since you typically always get hassled about the thousand things that are supposedly wrong with your car while getting a service. I dropped the car of at 9:00am and Andrew told me that he would call once the service was complete. 45 minutes later I got a call from Andrew, and I was thinking in my head"here we go what else does the car need?" but Andrew was just letting me know that the car was ready for pick up. Came in for an oil change with a coupon for 19.99 assuming my car required the conventional oil. Andrew at the front desk called me about 10 minutes later to inform me my car required the synthetic oil which would be at a much higher price. Was pleased that he warned me ahead of time before they went ahead and changed the oil so I didn't encounter sticker shock. My car was ready within about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, I had to choose 1 star. If I had the option to choose no stars I would. I would give this location a 0! Based on their deceptive business practices and their lack of customer focus, they actually made me physically ill from dealing with them. They told me that I needed to leave my car for 2-3 days for a water pump kit repair. They told me that they needed a "special" tool to make the repair. I contacted the other AAA repair stores in the area. They were unaware of any "special" tool needed for this type of repair. If they or any other repair shop tells you that they need to keep your car for several days, call another repair shop and ask how long their repair would take. I contacted other AAA repair shops and they said that this shop had misinformed me. FYI, I had to contact the District Manager regarding the time required for my repair. He too was unaware of any "special tools" required to fix my water pump kit. He listened and was proactive​. Also, the 2-3 days turned into 5. So...BUYER BEWARE. read more

I've gone here for air conditioning problems in my car and my nephew's truck and each time they were so honest and were able to fix the problem with us spending less than I thought we would have to. The lady at the front desk was very kind. However, the mechanics did a horrible job on my oil change service. I had a qpon from my job that included a tire rotation with the oil change. The mechanics lied and said my rotation could not be done because my front tires were old. I believe they were upset that I was only getting an oil change and turned down the offer for a transmission flush. I overheard the front desk lady ask a customer on the phone if he/she wanted a transmission flush. When she told the mechanics that the customer said yes, the guys started cheering and making noise as if they had just won a prize. I went to Discount Tire and they told me I still had a lot of tread on tires and rotated my tires for for free since I purchased them there. Also, the oil change at AAA included refilling my fluids. I knew I needed more windshield wiper fluid before I pulled in. They checked-off that it was completed. Pep Boys refilled that for me and told me I needed a new wiper blade. Very disappointed with their dishonesty and will NEVER return again! read more

I had taken my car to the dealership and they said I needed rear brakes. I was surprised since I had gone to another chain recently for an oil change and they said my brakes were fine. So I then paid $9.99 for an inspection at another location of the same auto chain and they said my brakes were fine. I heard noises with my brakes so just to be sure I went to the Pineville AAA and they showed me how brakes can be fine on the outside but on the inside they were at 2 which means they need to be changed. So they saved me from a more expensive brake job of having to replace rotors too. They were very nice and were also able to get me in on a Saturday without having to leave my car there. This location doesn't have all the amenities of the Matthews or Ballantyne location but the people there were very nice and professional. The prices seemed a little high but I had a coupon to use which made it more reasonable. Would definitely recommend before a lot of other places. read more
